    So, I figured I should start by saying I was dying of laughter as soon as I got far enough in the summary to realize Douxie was the DM. There are disappointingly few Tales of Arcadia fics like this, especially since Dungeons & Dragons (oh, I'm sorry, Maces & Talons) is canon in-universe.

    I love how you checked off all the obligatory boxes though - you've got your dwarf (Toby), your elf (Eli), the two players who are total and utter fiends about the game (Toby and Eli), the DM who might just be the devil incarnate (Douxie, and dear god if this isn't SO like him), the friend with zero creativity (Jim, using an existing name and making his character a tiefling Paladin when he basically WAS one), the cleric (Claire), the friends whose roles are somehow completely in-character while also being polar opposites of themselves (Aja and Krel - the Akiridions playing as humans though? *chef's kiss*). . . and then there's Steve.

    Your tags are hilarious - I'm convinced Douxie had something to do with the NOPEN sign at Benoit's (ficlet in the works for that), so HisirDOUX being HisirDONE was perfect. And I'm a sucker for the "everyone looks at the instrument of their imminent demise, who looks up completely unbothered and chuckles to themselves" trope, so well done, especially with him threatening them with "The Wrath of the DM" and griping about how he went from Shakespeare to these guys.

    In summary: I need MORE.

      I'm glad you liked it!! And yes. Douxie just wants to make sure his friends are having a fun time (though he does get carried away from time to time...)

      I have to say that hearing that you liked it so much does want me to write another installment...

      And I do have some more head canons for them... I wonder...?

        I'm glad! Yeah, I get the feeling Douxie isn't necessarily all that aware of how he comes off - for example, it's SO obvious that he has no idea others *cough*Jim*cough* might see his normal, charming self as flirting.
