Wow thank you!!! This is such a lovely comment omg! I used to obsessively seek out Tarsus IV fics (for... not dissimilar reasons to Dean lol) as a kid so I totally know how you feel about wanting to get more insight into that! And yeah, Jim’s brother being named Sam is basically gold for this fic lol. Although Sam is older and wasn’t on Tarsus, so Kevin kind of takes the little brother place in those fics, which... I mean. Lol.
It’s interesting, because I think Dean has kind of built himself this whole separate identity online, where he can write slash fic and talk about his feelings, and all these horrible things that happened to him are not real and actually just jokes. Like, for this guy, “going to hell” is just a colorful way of saying he had a bad year. And that’s Not Dean, it’s obviously Not Dean, because those things DID happen to Dean, but they didn’t happen to this guy. And there are a lot of things Not Dean can do that Dean can’t.
Anyway, I’m really glad you decided to comment! I really enjoyed talking that out. In metafic you have to talk around everything, and I do miss getting to dissect him in a more direct way! Thanks so much!
