Quite the interesting set up, and I like the small differences from canon already. Oliver sticking around rather than ditching for the island, him and Laurel working together to take on some of the threats that were left to grow unchecked in his absence in canon, Dinah being an actual sympathetic character rather than a bizarrely terrible mother...
I think the change that I’m most interested in seeing the effect of is Laurel being the one to take point on Roy’s apprenticeship. She’s probably the right temperament for it — Oliver and Roy clash a lot in season 2, and it rarely ended up leading anywhere good. I wonder how much will end up changing as a result.
Excited to see this series back for sure, I will say!
Oliver will still have a hand in Roy's training - Laurel's style of fighting isn't necessarily suited to Roy, and while Oliver's isn't necessarily either, it's closer. But Laurel will be the primary mentor, especially at first.
I'm not sure this version of Oliver would have rejected Roy's offer like Oliver in the show did, but Laurel's specific mindset and her whole goal of 'inspiring the people of the Glades' makes her uniquely suited to be a mentor to Roy.
