hookups are such a common thing dude, I find it so funny that you have such a hard time with that concept XD I mean, I wouldn't be doing anything of the sort in their position either, but it seems like a natural progression of things to me anyway because of my in depth observations on allosexuals XP Dmytro is mortified at the idea of wanting anything to do with Joe, doesn't mean he doesn't want it though lmfao. Joe seems like a divorcee to me, and I will not let go of that headcanon. And like the kind of man accustomed to empty beds and lone mornings. And Dmytro is the type to leave beds or make sure his is vacated quickly after sex. so they fit together....and will be the exception to the rule for each other in the end because the universe is a fickle thing with a sense of humor. I'm glad you liked the ways their personalities shone through with how they approached undressing! haha tension is tension, after all--anyway, glad that line helped you (almost) understand their reasons for coming together as quickly as they did and in the way that they did. Joe is really good at talking himself into letting go of things before he has them, even when part of him doesn't want to/isnt ready to let go
I like unrealistically mind-blowing sex in fanfiction as much as the next guy, but it doesn't suit these two. They've got to find how to fit together, and it's not a smooth, easy thing from the start. And it does emphasize that the sex isn't the reason Joe's thinking of Dmytro even now, so it's safe to assume even when the sex is something to brag about, it won't be the only reason they occupy space in each other's minds. (and also, to point 2, I do love Dmytro being this fit, hot athlete you'd expect to be blown away by, and Joe is just like yeah he was alright xD). There's no canon confirmation that Dmytro comes from a place of privilege, but it makes so much more sense if he does so it's a headcanon im keeping lmfao--and I do love how Joe and Dmytro are like a distorted mirror of their charges with thier similar circumstances. Joe cares about Nick and that's that...he just doesn't know how to do right by him, but he's trying. Dude same, I love Joe being the first person to see the fence Nick could be and being that first step to getting him there--I just want father figure Joe, doing his best by nick (i mean, he texted him his first day of school (which is why a LATE birthday text makes no sense. he knew nick's first day of school, and that's a much smaller thing).
Dmytro calls the shots how he sees them and is just too blunt to have any shame. And he is right in part, of course, but it does only make Joe determined to come to Nick's matches for Nick XD Yes! Joe doesn't think he's built for kids, but he does a pretty job by Nick and he doesn't see the irony in that. I'm glad you liked that little detail of him saying it out loud! Banter is always fun, I'm glad you enjoyed it here <3 ha they push each other's buttons too much for either of them to leave the other alone. is there anything better than a character being annoyed at themself for liking someone?
I'm glad you liked that bit of dialogue and know that Dmytro's gonna have to eat his words XD Dmytro being annoyed by Nick is hilarious. he can see that Nick's going to be a huge distraction to Seiji and that it's only going to get worse (and perhaps he's got a little bit of 'nobody is good enough for my son' in him). I do love ships that balance each other, so Joe and Dmytro having different styles of showing they care and kind of showing the other that there's more they could to to get the point across is important to me. (Dmytro fucking spoiling Seiji is so hilarious to me because neither thinks twice about or notices it)
LMFAO I love that you related to that line! Dmytro IS a snob--every time we see him, he's looking down on someone on Seiji's behalf and I love it, so I'm glad you think I captured the snobby asshole in him XD Nick deserves a support system and I like to think he gets one in Joe (which i know we're of the same mind on) <3
Ha yeah uwu sometimes you just gotta check out a fit ass when it leaves you in the dust. Nick and Seiji would just be ????? over Joe and Dmytro getting together lmfao. Dmytro my be a snob and an asshole, but he loves Seiji and can't help but dote on him in his way, which means relaying his accomplishments rather than Dmytro's own. and it rather endears Joe to him, and admires him in it too. Dmytro does not seem like he'd like most children overly much, but Seiji is just the kind of kid he WOULD easily grow to adore, and I'm delighted his reason for liking Seiji as a child got a laugh out of you! heh you are good at picking out the details that matter. Joe's habit of passing things along is one of the main points this fic is centered around. Dmytro is very quick-paced and efficient but Joe is an ambler and Dmytro just has to deal with it lmfao oh man I meant to include a translation but i forgot and i think its actually funnier to make yall look it up, but anyway I laughed out loud reading this. aaaah you're way too sweet to me <33
