Comment on One Small Briefing

  1. Nice work, midoriya being a metaphorical whipping boy huh? I'm kinda surprised, most people that write fics tend to make midoriya some super beat up and abused kid that's ridiculed every day. I'm not saying that he had the best childhood, but I don't think he was treated as badly as people make it out to be. Off the top of my head it showed him get beat up once when they were kids and than bakugo threatening him in middle school. I feel like people forget that and just make up the rest assuming its true with how often I see it in fics. Either way great chapter keep up the good work! Also do you plan on writing more fics?

    1. Not to say Midoriya wasn't also physically abused, because he probably was, however I think most of the abuse was actually emotional and psychological, given his extremely low self-esteem. Not to say, that I might not have brought all that into the story later on, where he suppressed some of the memories, but I wouldn't have gone overboard about it. There is enough circumstantial evidence to indicate something rather dark was going on at their old middle school.

I would have thrown Bakugou's abusive behavior into emotional abuse as they got older, however he wouldn't have been far from the worst person and there may have been times he protected Midoriya. Which is why his opinion of Bakugou would have been rather complicated.

In any case, I think it was far too soon to air Midoriya's past to Principal Nedzu and Aizawa.

    2. fact of the matter is, while writing a fic you don't *have* to follow canon and in the bullied and abused case, there is no canon, all we see is the incident when they are 4 and then time skip to middle school where Bakugou is confident enough to threaten him in the middle of class and surrounds him at the end of it.

You can call it emotional abuse or physical but the bullying looks like it's a constant thing and has gone to much worse levels before.

Also MHA canon is not really reliable, there is no need to ridicule an author for assuming what they assume, it's their fic and they can write what they chose to write, you can chose to not read it, but praising an author by ridiculing and critcising others is not actually praising.

      1. Fact of the matter is I never said that when writing a fic you *have* to follow canon, this one certainly doesn't quite a bit.

I personally don't think what I said was ridicule but that's just my opinion I guess. I was mainly pointing out that alot of people write the same stuff in their fics.

The only person who decides if my praise is valid is the author of the fic. If you don't like my comments, you can choose not to read them.

        2. Boiled, it's okay I gave Beerus some pretty lengthy critiques on a story he is writing. Some advice he took, some he decided to take his own route. He's just trying to provide the same.

In fact we got into full on debates back and forth on stuff.

It's also cool watching your debating the points cause it gives me alternative perspectives that I may incorporate or point out something I missed, cause I don't have a dedicated editor. So, feel free to give constructive criticism, I'm actually more of an engineer than a writer of fiction.
