thanks so much for the wonderful compliments and for staying with the story for so long! I really appreciate your questions too! the short answer to them is that when I started this story, I thought it was going to be about five chapters long, and I didn't think a lot of the smaller plot details out first because I was mostly focused on Jason and Bruce's dynamic. so, the reason it's not addressed in the story is because I didn't think it through well enough. I saw the Snyder Cut, went this would be a good backdrop for a Bruce & Jason fic and it went from there. I know that's a bit of a disappointing answer, but the truth is that Darkseid was just kind of a plot device for me to get the story where I wanted it to be.
However, I do have like headcanon-ish answers that I can give you! The Anti-Life equation was never really a part of my vision for this story, and Darkseid was a very minor player. I know that that was not the direction Snyder was going in, but I did make this canon divergent so I could play with it more, and therefore I didn't super care what Superman's original reason for turning evil were. Basically, in my head, this worked the way Injustice did, if you replace the Joker with Darkseid instead. Darkseid killed Lois Lane and Superman loses it. He goes mad with grief, kills Darkseid in revenge, and goes full-on dictator after that. I thought I included the fact that he kills Darkseid in the story, and now I'm realizing I must've cut that part out at some point, which is a big plot hole and absolutely my fault. Thanks for pointing it out! His motivations in Injustice are definitely much better thought out than they are in my story, again because that wasn't really my focus.
There's no Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Barbara Gordon etc. because I wanted to focus on a small cast of characters in order to flesh them out well, and I also really liked the idea of Bruce not taking on another Robin after Jason. That also came partially from the Snyder Cut, since Bruce doesn't have a Robin in Justice League and the Robin costume in the Bat Cave is the only indication there ever was a Robin, so I think it makes sense that there wouldn't be like 4-5 Robins that he just never mentions. As far as the Green Lantern Corps, New Genesis, and the Teen Titans, the same sort of rule applies. They weren't in any DCEU movies, so I didn't put them in my story, either. The way that the DCEU is structured, with Wonder Woman and Aquaman being relatively new heroes, Lex Luthor being introduced for the first time in BvS, Barry Allen being so young, etc. it didn't seem plausible to me for young heroes like Donna Troy, Garth, Kon, Wally, etc to exist, let alone be in a team together.
Lastly, I don't think the people of Earth do return to normal life easily. The Anti-Life Equation isn't a thing here, they were just ruled by evil dictator Superman, but a lot of people died and the remaining world was thrown into chaos, I just think the way they cope with it is relatively mundane. Things I've mentioned in past chapters like crime rates being up, law enforcement being in disarray, news traveling slower, etc. is sort of how I see life slowly starting to move back to normal.
Oof, I know that's a long answer, but I hope it all makes sense! Thanks again for leaving your thoughts and for reading!
