    The context is the musical “Company” by Stephen Sondheim, but maybe there’s something else confusing happening in the way I’ve written it

      It's more that I sometimes get the double meanings and hidden messages of what they're saying and what their interactions mean, but even then I feel like there's a deeper layer of metaphor and meaning that's beyond my grasp
