Comment on It takes a village

  1. Black and white scientific illustration of a brittlestar

Stoat is an absolutely excellent choice for a Matt daemon. Ferocious, agile, sleek, underestimated, adorable, keen... just perfect. I'm also quite interested in the "secret difference" these two are hiding from Fogs. Having read His Dark Materials, I have some guesses, but I like the way you've only hinted at it here and there so far.

Your writing is engrossing! The dialogue is real and vibrant, the pacing is great, and I love love love the way you're really examining and then externalizing Matt's relationship with himself, his soul, his heart, etc. And then how that echoes with the daemons' relationship! People underestimating Foggy but his daemon also being a perfect fit. The daemons wrestling, teasing. It's lovely and I'm so happy to subscribe.

    1. This was such a wonderful comment to receive, thank you!! As I've been writing I keep feeling Eleri n Nerys' forms slotting into place in so many ways, so I'm glad those aspects come across when reading!

I'm really hoping to incorporate the vibe of daemon superstitions/viewpoints of HDM as things go on, so fingers crossed those weave in nicely - it's been a cool experience to try and meld the two universes together like this! Especially tryna explore Matt's wonky brain n lived experience, i feel like a daemon is the perfect little vessel for that!

Thanks again for a lovely comment, glad to have you following along!😁
