Comment on An Interview without Coffee

  1. I enjoyed writing a forceful, if morally ambiguous, Gilly who removed the cowardly pig herself. Gilly is pretty tough in canon - she escapes from the Others to the Wall with Sam and a baby in tow. It's a lot tougher to craft a story in this setting with a strong female lead not of the upper classes (they'd probably tend to get burned as witches).

    1. Gilly would probably be burned with her child as “abominations.” Fortunately, Dany is broad-minded (she has faults, but she is lacking in prejudice).

I can see the appeal for Dany, Yara, and Beth Cassel.

      1. Like Gilly says in several of my stories, she cleans up real pretty. A number of actresses were lovely under their makeup/rags, including Septa Unella and Maggy the Frog (the glorious Jodhi May).

I poked through the site yesterday a little and could not find a ship for Gilly with anyone but the vile gelatinous mass, that wasn't written by you or I. I find her really fun to write.

        1. I expect Queen Daenerys would choose gowns and dresses for Gilly that really showed her looks to best advantage.

The actress who played Unella ended up horribly traumatised because the two dicks spent about ten hours waterboarding her.

          1. Without a corset. Gilly didn't like the corset Samwell's mother or sister poured her into.

I've now written Gilly killing Sam with a pistol shot, the sword Lightbringer, poison, beaten to death, throat cutting, burnt offering to Rh'llor, driven to drugs/alcohol, sacrificed to the Old Gods (with Val finishing him), with dragonglass dagger (as Other-Sam) and smothered during a heart attack. I don't think the scales are balanced yet for what he did to her.

        2. However I think we have established Sam as being vile, cowardly, and perverted among much of the fanfic community.

          1. Maybe some, but we still have a great deal of work to do on that score. The Night's Watch is sort of a Men's Separatist fantasy come to life.
