Comment on Megamix Tournament 4: Revival

  1. Boy, you are REALLY putting out ALL the stops with this tournament... more details on the fights, a few bits of team-ups here and there... and hey, a couple clumsy eliminations here and there as well! I can tell you're getting to the groove of things! And hey, this new twist of the Multiversal Matchup is an interesting concept! It gives prominence to characters that got eliminated too early, and gives them at least a consolation prize! So far, I'm loving this idea! I'm looking forward to seeing how this concept continues through the rounds! Well, let's do some voting.

    Greninja (Pokemon): Live

Menat (Street Fighter 5): Die (It hurts a bit, but there are just a couple more fighters I'm interested in right now.)

Lord Hater (Wander Over Yonder): Live

Kaya (Brawlhalla): Die (I hate to sacrifice Kaya this early, BUT the other two Brawlhalla picks seemed a bit more interesting down there, so of the three in the ring, I have to cut her off.)

Meta Knight (Super Smash Bros.): Live

    Mimikyu (Pokemon): Live

BB Hood (Darkstalkers): Die (This one was a little tough, but I think I can afford to cut off at least one Mystery Fighter.)

    Pete (Power Stone): Live

    Blanka (Street Fighter 5): Live

    Pyra (Super Smash Bros.): Die

    Darunia (Hyrule Warriors): Live

Mario Mario (Super Mario Bros.): Die (Hate to do this to the main character of the franchise, but while I doubt this'll effect him, I want to give some new fighters a chance here.)

Charlie Nash (Street Fighter 5): Die (Don't get me wrong, I think he should deserve something after what happened with his story in Street Fighter 5, but there were just too many characters I want to give Live votes to.)

Wang-Tang (Power Stone): Die (He does look pretty powerful, but other than that, sorry, I don't quite see how his wall-jumping skills could help him here...)

Diddy Kong (Super Smash Bros.): Live (Ugh, he's my favorite Donkey Kong character, so I HAVE to root for him! And hey, the Kongs do have some great skillsets, so looking forward to seeing Diddy in the battlefield!)

Slash (Eternal Champions): Live (Just to give Eternal Champions a little love. After all, they do need a character on the board, and Slash seems like the type of person that can easily accomplish that!)

Necrozma (Pokemon): Die (Don't get me wrong, as much as seeing Necrozma in a fighting tournament is interesting in its own right... er, honestly, of all the Generation 7 Legendaries that could have been invited to this, I actually more prefer Solgaleo or one of the Tapus. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see what Necrozma can do, but it's just more of a... different taste for me?)

Mad Piano (Super Mario 64): Live (Okay, this is just so random and funny, I am SO glad that piano that haunts people's nightmares is SOMEHOW a mystery fighter! I'm going to say it now, THIS is going to bring out some laughs, that's for sure!)

Angel (King of Fighters): Live (Hey, she's a great woman, a good fighter, but so far, her UVR record... a little empty. Maybe it's time to change that.)

Wizzro (Hyrule Warriors): Die (He is a threatening villain, make no mistake, BUT... there are just too many characters that have my interest a little more.)

Captain Olimar (Super Smash Bros.): Live (Uh... duh? I know I said I was going to be strict with my Smash picks every round... BUT I just can't resist voting for one of my mains! Pikmin is one of my favorite Nintendo series, and having Olimar here is certainly a good treat! Looking forward to seeing him fight!)

Magyar (Brawlhalla): Live (Now this is a great character concept... a hundred souls within one fighter? You bet this is getting my Live vote!)

Merengue (Animal Crossing): Die (Normally, I'd be all for 'unusual fighters that are from Slice-of-Life games/cartoons' entering the ring to give fighting a try... but unfortunately, I'm going to have to say Die to Merengue here. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see an animal villager you can get in your town get involved in one of these things, but alas, I have to be a little strict here.)

Bowser Jr. (Super Mario Bros.): Die (It pained me to do this, especially since the only Mario character I picked is the MYSTERY FIGHTER, but I already had my last few Live votes locked, so I'm afraid Bowser Jr. is going to have to get the shaft here. If he somehow lives, MAYBE I'll vote for him next round, but that all depends on how everything goes down.)

Tir McDohl (Suikoden Trilogy): Die (I'm sorry, this is probably not a great way for Suikoden to start after this round, but there were seriously more people I had to consider...)

Clark Still (King of Fighters): Die (Don't get me wrong, I do like the Ikari Warriors characters, but I'm afraid it wasn't enough to get Clark in the top 15.)

Spike (Playstation All Stars): Live (Heck YES! Spike may have failed in the Tournament of Kikai, but let's see how well he fares here!)

Ibuki (Street Fighter 5): Die (Half of me wanted to vote for Ibuki, but there's already a lot of other choices, and Ibuki sadly didn't make the cut.)

Fire Man (Mega Man): Die (The hardest boss of the original Mega Man? Probably. But I don't know how far that'll take him.)

Bodvar (Brawlhalla): Live (Well, if this is one of the starter fighters of this game, I have to vote for him. Plus, Bodvar looks like a pretty cool dude!)

    Multiversal Matchup:

This first challenge is going to be quite interesting, and it'll be hilarious to see N. Gin getting blown up. Now, to rank the eight players, and my reasons why...

    8. Sackboy (Playstation All-Stars) (Hey, with an arsenal of weapons on his back, and considering LittleBigPlanet is KNOWN for platforming, Sackboy has this in the bag!)
    7. Soldier (Team Fortress 2) (I think Soldier might be a close second, but otherwise, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him win.)
    6. Volkov (Brawlhalla) (He probably could fly over some obstacles if need be, but otherwise... he might have some tough moments...)
    5. Young Link (Hyrule Warriors) (Hey, platforming IS a bit of Young Link's specialty... not as much as Mario, but the Zelda characters do have some good movements to get far.)
    4. Boom Boom (Super Mario Bros.) (Well, he IS from Mario, a place KNOWN for platforming, so he might have a slim chance, but otherwise... who knows?)
    3. Athena Asamiya (King of Fighters) (Now we get to the characters I feel have little to no chance. That said, Athena MAY have a chance, but competition can be pretty tough.)
    2. Needle Man (Mega Man) (His needles might do some good work on N. Gin, and he does have SOME jumping skill, but otherwise... eh.)
    1. Chris Lightfellow (Suikoden Trilogy) (This was hard, but yeah, I just don't believe Chris has a good chance in winning this round. Sorry, Chris, but hey, if it helps, you're a beautiful person?)

Well, maybe I'm thinking a little too logically with these Multiversal ranks, but hey, maybe some of these characters can surprise.

As for the side battle, I'm going with Bear Hugger and Blizzard Man! As much as I want to vote for Ghirahim (since Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda game), I have to give the win to the Canadian reps here!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the tourney plays out... good luck to all out there, and may the best character go on through/win the Multiversal Matchup!
