I will say, there's a lot more to their story and the what brought them to the break up than has been shown so far. Ward plays his cards very close to the vest and hasn't told Skye as much as we may wish he had. She's got her own issues too. There will be more revealed, I promise! Neither of them are perfect and neither of them are totally at fault. They got into this mess together and the only way they can get out of it is together too.
I loooooove Trip. I appreciate him so much more now than I did initially on the show. I liked him at first, sure, but I saw a lot more in him when I re-watched, so it felt like a natural inclusion to have him here. Plus, it's a total AU, so I can do what I want! ;-)

Believe me, I definitely know that there are always two sides to every story (I'm a family psychologist and see a lot of couples). Everyone brings something to the table - good and bad - so I'm eager to hear more about their relationship.
I hope you don't think that my comments about Skye were complaints about your writing or indications that I don't like your Skye. I do like Skye in this story and thought her breaking up with him the way she did was very true to life. Sometimes you just are done and there's no going back (which is one thing that makes couples counseling so difficult), at least not right then or until things change. I tend to get angry with Skye a lot because I'm so incredibly protective of Grant no matter what. I know he has his own issues (and in real life, he'd definitely be a challenge to have as a partner) but I love him so much and just want good things for him. That's one of the reasons I love Trip's easy friendship with him. It's nice, non-demanding, and solid. We all need friendships like that but Grant especially does.
You are a wonderful writer and I love reading anything you write. Plus, you and evieoh make a great team. I can't wait for chapter 3!
I understand what you were saying, for sure. I totally get that instinct to be super protective of Ward. In this world, he hasn't been manipulated by Garrett or had any of that SHIELD stuff happen with him, so he's a bit better off (not great, but not as awful as it was on the show).
