      Bingo! Our first reviewer of this chapter has guessed correctly and has won the smug feeling of being right before everyone else. Good eye! Yes the Zero Escape series was the majority of the inspiration behind the vault along with hints of danganronpa and the og Nier. When I realised we had a 'Junpei' being trapped and having a bad time I had to add some easter eggs/get inspiration from the games that are all about being trapped.

      What tipped you off out of curiosity?

      Was it the incinerator and its chime? Junpei being trapped?

        The way you specifically named each room, which I remembered were labeled pretty closely to the ones in the game. Also, you stated the rooms had an automated voice that said the room's name when going into it, which set off my geek references radar. That, and the back story of the reader was extremely similar to what happened in the games. It's nice to find another fan of such a niche series. Oh! And "Sleeping Beauty Project" was totally a reference to the Sleeping Beauty Paradox, which as a little fact, is based on anthropic biased.

          I'm glad to see another fan! Its a good game series even if the third game was not as good as the first two. I still got emotional at some parts of the last game despite its faults. Blue bird lamentation song always gets me no matter the version.

          I'm so glad someone picked up on it. The Readers backstory is a mix of the Zero Escape games, Danganronpa and what happened to some characters in Nier. I won't say much more in case someone wants to get into the games.

          Edit: Nice catch! Also its a double reference as in the first Nier game the names of fairy tale characters are used in an interesting way...so I had to nod to that considering the time frame this story takes part in.
