    Thank you for your comment. I have to say that in "Orc-brat" it's about three months out and Leni's situation is more of an unhappy status quo. That story has a broader focus re: the characters and plot (meandering as it is), so the darker parts of Treed are, perhaps, not as unrelenting in OB, but they are definitely still there. When I finally get back to OB, I would like to get things moving more in a particular direction. I know where things are going and what's going to happen for the most part, but I'm an appallingly slow writer and life has become especially busy in the past few years. Fond of the characters, though, so I do want to get back to it.

    If you do start reading OB I hope that you won't get (too) impatient with Leni: I think that writing "Treed" gave me a better handle on her character and who she is, which in turn gave me a better handle on writing her in OB. The main thing is that she's young and in a very bad situation, and she's been in it at that point for a long time. 8(
