Comment on A Terrific Tale

  1. why not? it would help all the students in breaking their bias against Harry. They called him and Dumbledore madmen and plotters.

    1. Because the first three books' worth of testimony would have already settled that?

      1. reading the 3rd book could help in defending Sirius and explain about Peter.
Maybe the 4th one could also reveal other people involved:
        1) Miss Skeeter: her slanders about Harry and Hermione and for pumping the news about being Hagrid so dangerous; the involved Slytherin too could be punished for helping her
        2) Winky: punishing her would not be a matter of racism, but of being a DE's accomplice, simply (see instead DObby who had awful means to "save" Harry, he reached the crime by the cake and the ball, but went ahead a mad terrorist and his acolytes)

        1. Harry and co would NOT want book 4 read. Hermione committed a massive crime that could and should not go unpunished if it was learned about by the wrong people.

Ignoring that, there is little that people would not already know about that time period besides Harry's personal thoughts while going thru puberty and his first real interest in girls... definitely not something he would be willing to see bandied about without a very good reason. A few little things that make no difference but would reflect poorly on him (such as sneaking into the prefects bath, sneaking into the forest AGAIN which would also get HAGRID in trouble again, etc). Rita's slander was all public, as was the quotes from people in hogwarts she printed.

Winky CANNOT be punished legally for doing what magic forced her to do. Her family could fire her, which they did, but she is not legally responsible for her actions when they are forced by magic. Crouch, who would be able to be punished for her actions, is already dead.

The list of death eaters present at the graveyard should not be made public until they are arrested at earliest... a private reading of that with Amelia present for that chapter would be plenty, and they could announce it in the press after if they want it public after that. Reading that to a bunch of children would have no benefit, unlike proving sirius' innocence does. That is the only potentially important news in the book that is not already known that they would be willing to make known.

          1. what about the slander on Harry? Barty jr is Kissed but at least Harry would not be called a cheater any more

            1. They already know he wasn't cheating. And frankly, even if they didn't by that point, I think he would rather be considered a cheater than be living in azkaban because of the kidnapping and blackmail his friends and him engaged in. Even if he would get off because of some excuse of he wasn't the one who did it and as a child who couldn't trust the adults around him he didn't feel comfortable turning hermione in, he would also rather be thought a cheater than have Hermione is azkaban.

Also, as a note, he totally DID cheat in the triwizard tournament, just not to put his name in. Its just that so did the other schools. And that goes back to what I said in the previous comment, it would get Hagrid in trouble too.

He also knowingly received stolen goods (the gillyweed) tho as they have already decided that he wasn't in trouble for personally stealing from snapes stores, that would probably be excused this time as well.

Only harm would come of reading book 4 publically.

              1. I am still thinking that, once punishing Harry for cheating and Hermione for imprisoning Ruta, it would become the proof od VOldemort's return

          2. Whoa there! In a sane system Winky would not be responsible, but we all know what the ministry is like at this point
