    Blach confirmed why Kisuke never put the hogyoku directly in Ichigo in a hint in the new "Bleach" novel book. I suspect that Ichigo could have become the new Soul King if the hogyoku was placed into Ichigo at the cost of Ichigo losing his humanity or so as the price but I could be wrong.
