On a re-read, and I really love how different things are standing out!
“Lisa See wrote in her book Shanghai Girls, ‘Having a baby is painful in order to show how serious a thing life is.’” This is such a beautiful quote, and a fantastic lead-in!
Once again, the two bunnies taking care of Brylee and her mom are just so wonderful, and I’m so glad she has them to look after her as she gets older💖
Haha, Ace! I love how his motivations for staying I. The kitchen are a bit different from their motivations in telling him to stay there: they’re thinking about privacy, and he doesn’t want to get grossed out! Such a great little boy reaction! And as the oldest of four, it’s relatable😂
He’s gonna be such a great big brother, I can tell!!
“in the fear of having the birth parents suddenly change their mind.” Wow this hits differently, reading it again. I just found out recently that my good friend’s adoptive parents almost lost her to that very thing. It must be incredibly difficult💔
“‘But I promise you, Brylee, when the time is right, we will meet again.’” Oh my gosh, I missed this the first time around! Now I’m dying of curiosity: WHEN will they meet again??
