Comment on A Digital Mother

  1. Loved the scene of Aloy's naming. Trying to imagine it in my mind led to worm fuzzy feelings. I like the idea of some Braves led by Kurst being seekers and agree with Aleza about trying to learn about other tribe's craft. Maybe they could bring back a few Banuk Variant Bows for the braves to train with. Although I feel it might be a bit to early in their history for the Icerail or Stormslinger, and the prototype Forgefire was invented by Varga shortly before she and Aloy met.

The Nora Faithful being more open to old world tech leads to the idea one might not outright avoid old world ruins, creating the possibility that a young scout or initiate might fall into the same ruin that Game Aloy got her 1st focus in. If this Nora recognizes a focus as that Old World tech that GAIA described during her speech in chapter 3, this could lead to not only Aloy getting the focus much younger, but the Nora could begin learning to use them as well.

As for timeline... really hard to say. The flow of an individuals gameplay and the order they choose to explore side content can influence that individuals sense of time. I confess that as much as I love playing video games, I'm not very good at it, so I usually take my time. For me, it felt like the whole game and all side quest took about a year, maybe a few months longer. As for when Forzen Wilds takes place compared to the rest of the game, that is entirely up to player choice. Once the main quest 'A Seeker at the Gates' is complete and Aloy has access to the whole Embrace, players could b-line it strait to the Cut if they wanted.

Shortly before Forbidden West came out I did a Zero Dawn New Game + playthough. I tried to do all the side quests in an order that I felt was logical to Aloy's character. Someone who had just lost her father and was focusing on bringing his killers to justice, ergo, ignoring or delaying side quests until after her interrogation of Olin. In my own head cannon for that playthough, Aloy learned about the Frozen Wilds from that Oseram trader guy, Ohtur, the first time she visits Daytower. However, she chooses not to explore the Cut until after she visits the The Grave-Hoard as part of the main story quest.

While it doesn't give exact dates, this might still be helpful

quick side note: the Frozen wilds main quests can be given by Ohtur, Rhavid, or Yariki at different locations found on the game map. Once you speak to one, the other two disappear from the game. In my own head cannon, Aloy is allowed to speak to all three.
