The reason we keep getting flashbacks of Hopscotch is because he is absolutely obsessed with this bird. He knows this bird remembers his dinosaur ancestors and that the beak is a knife used to assert dominance, and he is the biggest fan.
How are you absolutely correct about this?? I swear, you're into something... Hopscotch is the absolute best, and the only being that Sukuna will EVER respect.
It is because Hopscotch, too, lives only for himself and cares not for the opinions of others. Hopscotch is the peak of creation and also an icon, and if there were merch of this ambitious lil rooster he would have it. He is insulted by whatever entity plucked this fella from existence and keeps looping back to the story to solve the detective mystery to get the appropriate vengence. As he should, this is the only correct thing Sukuna has ever done in his 1000 years of semi-immortal existence. His history with food (rice) tells us he understands the value in not tossing away important things

Sukuna will do anything for Hopscotch and to avenge him, but don't worry. This is not the end of Hopscotch.
