Harry is really thriving with a family that cares for him! He's doing so well and was even able to remove Severus' Dark Mark! Yeah, it was extremely bad timing as Severus kissed Sirius - but he had no idea, that Harry had a crush on him...or he would have probably never done that!
I'm happy that Harry's "elf mother" will be living with him...and that Severus was able to tell them some harsh truths...let's hope that the citizens in Magical Britain learn about it...it could cause some long overdue stop of this hero worshippings....
Thanks. I don't often care when some plots are ridiculous, it's more dialogue that'll put me off a fic. Love meself some silly bashing fics with awful grammar and spelling faux pas galore, but if the talking is awkward, I'm out. WBWL is a new one for me, I had to try it. Harry will do what Harry does, but I had to slip in those two other perspectives to see the results of him getting on with his own life. We'll see what happens when Harry eventually interacts with all the players in the "war". :D
Please, it's set in a magical fantastic world - of course, it could be ridiculous...that's part of the appeal... Besides, it sadly happens quite too often, that such neglect could happen, even in the real world...and as long as nobody calls them out for it...
I can't blame Harry for having practically washed his hands of his family and their false friends...you may say that at least Lily & James had a minor excuse for falling for Dumbledore's lies -> but a godfather to a certain child, doesn't have this excuse!
To be honest, canon!Harry shouldn't have given a damn about anyone in canon; he shoult only looked after himself - get his hands on the necessary information, including his vault key and then leave Britain behind for good! Instead he was mostly a good little puppet for Dumbledore, who not once questioned anything the old coot had done...or not done...
I'm looking forward to it...after all you also have the wonderful ignorance and arrogance of the Potters (our children can only be in Gryffindor - he's done what?!) Just to have it bite them in their collective arses...
I am with you on this one… Lily and James, making a mistake is something I can understand because it has been done quite often, but Sirius completely, forgetting his own godson is something that cannot be forgiven… he should be stripped of that responsibility
Indeed, the young parents may have been overwhelmed, as I doubt that Dumbledore would really want them to focus on both twins...
But Sirius Black has no excuse as sworn godfather of Harry (not even if he is also the sworn godfather to his twin brother!) And for that should Magic punish him!
However, I do find it extremely doubtful, that the school wouldn't inform them: "Due to your son Harry being so advanced, we decided to give him some tests, and he passed them, so now he can skip 2 grades. He'll be taking his OWLs in this year, and his NEWTs in that year! He'll be graduating from Hogwarts in July..." ->there is always a ceremony at the end of their 7th year, so that the diplomas can be handed over...and if you skip a few years, then the notification should be send out...
Let's hope that the Potter house elves found a way to slyly rebel against them... :)
Yes yes, indeed. Seems a little odd that Flitwick wouldn't pop an owl to the Potters to either inform them or get their consent. I just wonder what Mum might do with access to the wards and owls that come into the home. He's her youngling after all. The masters don't need to worry themselves about her youngling. He is hers. Yes?
And yes indeed, it's not obvious, but he avoided the graduation. It's not mandatory after all. More of a big thumbs up from the school. Your grades are still your grades, whether you attend or not.
And we don't know what Sirius has done because our boy dismissed them all when he was old enough to decide they had all abandoned him. He stalked them a little, but not enough to get a better picture. He had a library to consume, after all.
We know it was DumbleDouche that "decided" Ben was the BWL, and suggested he needed more attention, but who knows who decided it was a good idea to hand their toddler to the "servants" to raise, and forget about him. Seems like graduation was important to them for some reason.
But whatever, let's do some magic and be awesome magic users. :D
Exactly, as Flitwick seems at least to care for his students...or he is more involved compared to some other heads of houses...but this is something that he couldn't keep to himself...as it's quite an achievement to advance a few years and being allowed to skip a few grades along the way...even if "Mum" would take care of those letters, she wouldn't just try to make them disappaer as he could have asked questions or just came over someday and told them about it...
I'm not really surprised about that...he could have tried to avoid the spotlight...and why should Dumbledore really care? And the final way back over the lake with the boats, when they're old enough to apparate? Why bother? If it's not mandatory, then you could try to leave after the exams are over...as it also depends, until which date you can expect your results...
Good point, but Sirius isn't so keen to spend any time in a library, so either he was busy training the other twin or busy with his job...although you would think, that he would have at least gifted both boys with a two-way-mirror, just to stay in touch...
Yeah, neither Dumbledore nor the Potters are blamefree...and now they have to deal with this lovely fall-out...of course, it was important...they had probably invited some journalists to cover Ben's graduation...and now imagine, how that could have backfired...there's a twin, and he's a genius? How come nobody heard about it? :P
Indeed. Oh, indeed my dear. But remember, AU. So what actually happened on that fateful night? Why is Ben actually labelled as the BWL? What made the Potters turn to Flopsy to hand over their child rearing responsibilities? What was Sirius' reaction to his Godchild being sidelined? Did he forgive the Potters for what they had done? Was it a magical bond, or simply a muggle bastardisation? Who knows.
I do remember that it's an AU....but they could have also said, we do not care about the prophecy, we care about our sons! Fame or not, they had a responsibility as parents and Sirius as godparent...therefore they have to face the consequences for their actions...
And at least Harry had Flopsy and the other house elves to care for him...
I can only see a magical bond as useful, considering that they were fighting in a civil war...
