        Cool, I was close! See, I used to own the novelization of Infinite Crisis, and that pinging was used a few times, if faded memory serves me well

          It was a very characteristic thing with the Mother Boxes. And it can be used to great effect, as Jack Kirby did in his Fourth World stories.
