Thank you for your lovely comment! Since your previous one inspired this I'm glad this hit the right humour buttons with you, particularly as humour is always a hit-and-miss for a non-native writer. Sorry to hear about the sucky day, though; I hope things are looking a bit better. Boromir was the obvious choice for me as I know Tolkien best of all involved fandoms, even though I'm usually writing Elven-centric fic. It just seemed to fit how I perceive him, as does the way Sharpe is reacting. I'm afraid I'm not very familar with Sharpe, though; never read the books (yet - might still happen although my reading pile is HUGE), but watched the movies for the first time last year, so that memory at least was relatively fresh, and he's also my favourite among Bean's characters I know. I am familiar with the period insofar as I used to be deeply into Age of Sail ficiton, and have had a new resurgene of that fandom love since last summer (mostly books, altough I know the typical movies and series, too.) I only chose characters I know myself for this, which is the reason there's no Macbeth. I enjoy Sean Bean but am not a fan as such, so I only know him from movies and series I was watching anyway, but I always enjoy seeing him in whatever role.
Thank you for the reply! I love a bit of an exchange with an author, so thank you for taking part in a more in-depth discussion.

Well, at least this non-native reader enjoyed it very much! (And my humour is rather special, I'm anything but mainstream oriented!
Sorry to hear about the sucky day, though; I hope things are looking a bit better. Thank you for your kind words. It's probably not going to look up for quite some time but we can only have hope, can we?

It just seemed to fit how I perceive him, as does the way Sharpe is reacting. Absolutely! I've been a bit out of touch with LOTR but I truly enjoy your take on Boromir, and Sharpe? Well, he does have a sense of humour, even if sometimes hidden beneath layers of anger (about incompetence in the army, the unfairness of life...), sense of duty and lots of other emotions.
I'm afraid I'm not very familar with Sharpe, though; never read the books (yet - might still happen although my reading pile is HUGE), but watched the movies for the first time last year, so that memory at least was relatively fresh, and he's also my favourite among Bean's characters I know. I got into Sharpe 25 years ago due to my love for the period and a short time of reenacting.
I am familiar with the period insofar as I used to be deeply into Age of Sail ficiton, Lovely!
and have had a new resurgene of that fandom love since last summer (mostly books, altough I know the typical movies and series, too.) I only chose characters I know myself for this, which is the reason there's no Macbeth. Ah, I see. Yes, that makes sense.
I enjoy Sean Bean but am not a fan as such, so I only know him from movies and series I was watching anyway, but I always enjoy seeing him in whatever role. Due to Sharpe, I immediately fell in love with Sean's accent (happy memories of my school exchange to the Northeast of England stirred), and when he was doing Macbeth, I knew I had to be there. So that's why that role is very dear to me now - still, after all these years!
