Comment on In the shadow of darkness the light shines brightest

  1. So you may have some people defending the device, especially since Lena presented it in a much better light in your story vs how she did it on the show. In the show Lena displayed some learned xenophobic behavior. That was never her intention, but it's how she grew up. It made total sense to her and she even thought she was helping. By clearing the air on who was who, Lena legitimately thought she was creating an environment for aliens and humans to be honest with each other. Lena was raised this way, so it takes her a very long time to overcome some of those learned prejudices. But in your story Lena comes at this totally different so I can see how readers may defend Lena this time around, but even then, Lena's device was still bad. That comment on here about Kara possibly hurting millions because she let her fear cause Lena to stop the device was said by someone who obviously is bias towards Lena. You wrote that scene perfectly, Kara's reaction was real and exactly how every Alien would react. Your version of Lena recognized based on Kara's reaction how those would make the alien community feel and instantly ended producing the device. This version of Lena did not have the intentions of the shows version. This version was solely concerned with helping aliens and this device would do more harm than good. Why you may ask? Because this device would most likely keep aliens from seeking any care since they would now need to fear being discovered if they went to a hospital.
