      Right, this takes place essentially in Season 4. The first 3 seasons are unchanged.

          I guess I don't understand the question.
          This starts at the end of Season 3. There are no changes before then.
          Both in cannon and in my story, Xander left Sunnydale at the end of Season 3. In my story, he goes through many years of life and training in an alternate dimension and returns to Sunnydale at the beginning of Season 4; approximately when he would have returned from his road trip anyway in cannon. Xander aged and matured in that time, while the others aged less.
          So there's no changes to seasons 1, 2, or 3. Only season 4.
          Does that make sense?
