I really like Madeline so far. Even Josie seems cool, although understandably stressed right now. Mads seems like the cool aunt but can be protective and disciplinary towards E when needed.
I've mentioned this before during your Soap story, but I appreciate your research and attention to detail. My background is in health research so it was a pleasant surprise to see the EIS mentioned. I still remember little things from before like Emma's medical discharge, her PA studies, and even the description of practice at the range. It all ties together nicely and makes the characters and situation more real.
Mads has an interesting background herself being so different from her sister. However, Josie may be academically successful and great at fieldwork related to infection control, but I'm sure Mads has her own skills from her experiences of being a former wild-child. She once lived on a commune?! She's surely learned useful things in that community off-the-grid. Odd jobs and couch surfing can be dangerous, too.
I do enjoy zombie movies, but I've never gotten into The Last of Us and I gave up on Walking Dead sometime around the Negan arc. I thought World War Z was kinda silly and campy with the zombie horde behaviors (and some people behaviors 👀), but I absolutely loved 28 Days Later, The Crazies, and the movies by George Romero.
I think the aunt thing will be fun. I’ve also had this idea of Alex with kids for a while. I think he’d be an awesome adult to have around kids, even a dad, but he hasn’t had a chance. So now I get to explore that ☺️
That’s an awesome background! I originally went to college to be a nurse, healthcare and all that stuff fascinates me. I actually work in healthcare now, just a different capacity. The movie Contagion helped me with some research, basically a jump off point. And I actually enjoy the research, even if it’s just a small one off mention, makes it more real for sure.
Mads definitely has a lot of life experience, it’ll come in handy. The commune idea actually made me laugh when it popped in my head…then I was like ‘wait this fits for her. And could come in handy.’
I was obsessed with, but also gave up on, the walking dead. Basically right when the whisperers showed up I was done. I tried rewatching to get through it, and once again gave up when the whisperers came so I guess it’s not meant to be. I enjoy World War Z for the “world” aspect, seeing how other countries reacted and being more than one setting. But I can see the silly aspect. 28 days later was my first ever ’zombie’ movie that really hooked me. The Crazies is another favorite. Annnnd I met (and have a signed mug and picture with) Eugene Clark/Big Daddy Zombie. Land of the Dead is my fave George Romero.
