Yoo I love this so much! Idk very much about tlou but these first two chapters have been such a cool intro to this world, and I really like how you let us piece together a lot of the world building and Mark's backstory instead of just straight up telling us. Also I really like Mark's moral dilemma in this fic since on one hand putting kids in harm's way is one of the few things against his moral code (because they remind him of his kid/he knows what it's like to lose a kid), but also Dakota is the first real chance Mark has of getting his kid back. At first I was a little confused on how Dakota could at all stop the apocalypse since in canon I thought William was the one who could banish the demons out, but I totally forgot about Chaos Cole and Dakota's ability to just eat the demons lol. Also this chapter was so so cool getting introduced to Vyncent! I love how you wrote him getting adjusted to all the people inside his head, and "Virion, the bleeding" made me chuckle. I'm also very very excited to see what's up with William in this fic, especially considering the tags. Anyways I am so hyped to see where this fic leads!
AAAAAAAAAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! yeah mark's backstory was definitely something i thought about a lot and he's just really not the kinda guy to be open about his past,, he's more likely to wear the grief like a shield, so i tried to reflect that while writing this. it's why this dilemma of dakota being put in harms way vs. the prospect of getting ashe back is so interesting. eventually, if dakota wants to survive out there, he's gonna have to get behind that shield, but mark is an immovable object and he is an unstoppable force kind of deal. idk if any of that made sense but yeah and thank you soso much about what you said about vyncent!!! i was a little worried that itd be too much of a tone shift + he's the prime defender i think i Get the least but. it makes me happy to know his segment was cool ^__^ ehehge i cant wait for william to show up. evil laughter
Aw I'm very excited to see Dakota and Mark's relationship develop! Although knowing Mark yeah it will definitely take a long time for him to let anyone else behind his shield. Also that laugh scares me, I stg if William is possessed or something I will riottttt (((not really I live for the angst and I am very excited for whatever you may have in store for him)))
