  1. I love love love this. You have such a great way of flirting back and forth in a timeline and making it work to build atmosphere and suspense. I love the way you describe Emily, as a stranger, from JJ’s POV. The experience on a whole. This part got me good: “Something about it all reminded her of cracking the spine of a dusty leather bound book at the creaky-floored used bookstore next to her apartment. The warm scent of old paper, comforting and familiar.”

    And I think you did a great job of capturing the exact type of friendship between JJ and Derek and Penelope. The way you write their banter is perfect.

    I can’t wait for the rest of this!
