Personally, I see the twins being the type of people to insist that they are fine when asked, with Holt being the one to be obvious when lying, while you can't really tell that Jackson is lying about how he feels.
Thank you! I thought it might be a little corny but I couldn't resist- Holt and Jackson needed a hug, and they got a hug.
I can see that- if it wasn't about Halloween, and Holt wasn't encouraging him to talk about it, Jackson probably would have just kept insisting he was fine (though in this case, it is very obvious that he isn't). This thought just came to me- it would be so sad if Jackson just smiles and says he's fine because he used to try telling others about stuff that was bothering him, but they assumed he was being dramatic (a typical teenager thing that they also do), so they didn't act like they cared or like it was a big deal. So now he doesn't realize that the thing bothering him is actually really bad, and he should talk about it. Like what I wrote when I first started this series, when he had a fever of one hundred and one but still went to school- no one noticed, probably because Jackson said he was okay and they didn't try to look closer, chalking up any weird behavior to the fact that he's a normie (Since starting this series I've decided I hate that word, if only because it's always been said to Jackson as an insult).
As for Holt, like you said, he lies about his feelings in a super obvious way, but the one he's talking to is just like "He'll probably be fine by lunch" or something like that. Or even worse, they're just glad he's not being obnoxious for a while.
Normie has to be a slur in the monster world, like there's no way it’s not. And with Ghouls Rule and its racist themes, the use of normie in the movie cements to me that it is in fact a slur.
