Comment on The King in Gold and the Pallid Mask

  1. Intrigued from the first chapter! I don't know why but I was reminded a little of "Your Lie in April" (I have very mixed feelings about that series) at the beginning. I also liked how integral music is to the plot and structure of this entire story. I'd love to write such an intricate and well-done story like this some day! More than that, the mystery violinist shows his power with his instrument, which almost seems to be a form of magic. It makes me think of characters in I'm in Love with the Villainess, some of whom can use musical instruments (one in particular even uses a violin from what I recall). Thanks so much for writing this fic.

    1. Thank you for your input - I'm really glad that you thought the music structured the story well because it was one of my main goals to make it the central thing and to make it seem almost like magic!

I haven't watched either of the things you mentioned yet, but that's good because I now get recs for inspiration later ;)

      1. Sure, it's my pleasure! I can definitely see how one of your main goals was to make the magic seem almost like magic!

In terms of recs, I liked the *music* parts of Your Lie in April, although I'm not as sure about other parts. As for I'm in Love with the Villainess, it isn't as much about music, although I suppose that is one of the main elements.

There have been a rash of music/band series as of late, like BanG Dream! It's My Go!!!!, Whisper Me a Love Song, Bocchi the Rock!, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night, or Girls Band Cry, along with the variety of others like 'Sound! Euphonium' (about a school band), and that's not even getting into the idolish ones, of which there's a whole genre...

        1. Thank you, that's super interesting, not a genre of anime I've engaged with that much to be honest, but those sound like a lot of fun!!
