Wow. I was enjoying this already, but this chapter was really something special.
I'd never even considered that Aeris would be undocumented, and as such would have an issue getting on the ship. That was a great pull, and you used it masterfully to both weave Reeve into the story and have the horrors of bureaucratic red tape undermine Aeris' identity and the few things she'd made for herself (her marriage). Nothing like the government to make you feel small lol. This was all really clever and wonderfully written, my favorite chapter so far. The cameo by Reno and Rude was also interesting. Reno seemed awfully snippy towards the people that helped him out before lol. I wonder if Rufus and Elena might be around as well? Guess time will tell if we see more of them.
Funny it never occurred to me either, until I went on my trip. I was sitting at the airport thinking about this. It would make sense for Aeris to keep her identity a secret (mainly out of fear, because of the trauma), and it wouldn't be a sustainable lifestyle, which she finds out. It's only a matter of time she runs into problems like this.
They may or may not show up in future chapters. Who knows. :)
