AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You somehow made them Romeo & Juliet on the balcony! (though I love that Zemo climbed down to the Soldier) All the little chinks in the Soldier's armor that Zemo is finding and worming his way into are amazing, and now stripping him of his usual attire and the mask the soldier hides behind?? Perfection. I might have been screaming a little over that blush ;-)
Thank you so much! I'm thrilled you picked up on the Romeo and Juliet balcony vibes haha—though of course, Zemo’s style is more "defiant aristocrat sneaking out" than love-struck poet! I HAD to let him climb down to the Soldier; it just felt so him—reckless, mischievous, and somehow utterly unshakable. I love that you noticed all the ways Zemo is needling through the Soldier’s armor, I really enjoyed writing that. This chapter was so much about Zemo chipping away at that icy exterior, planting those dangerous little seeds of freedom and desire. The Soldier might tell himself he's just following orders, but Zemo’s already prying open the cracks and making him feel. And isn’t that just the beginning of everything? 👀 Thank you again for this amazing comment—your excitement made my day!
