Yes, unfortunately, I am planning on excluding him. I’m still pretty new to the fandom (been around for a couple months) and honestly, when I started planning out this fic, Ratbat terrified me. I just wasn’t sure how he would fit in with this AU I’ve come up with basically and I still don’t know to this day. I’ve seen people use him being the real baby of the cassettes which is absolutely adorable and I love it but then part of me is like “this is also a bot who manipulated Sounders in some canons” so yeah ＿|￣|○
Well most of the interpretations of Baby Ratbat are from the G1 cartoon while the more manipulative ones are based on the Ratbat from Marvel's Transformers comics where he was a politician on Cybertron instead of a Cassette (in fact the Cassettes as a whole were shown as independent from Soundwave) and was even the Leader of the Decepticons on Earth for a time. Personally I prefer Baby Ratbat he's just adorable.
I agree, baby Ratbat is best. I’ve kinda learned those things as time has passed and honestly, seeing your comment this morning really made me think about it and ngl he might just be a post-war cassette in this AU for me. It would really be cute to see all the cassettes have a new sibling in this new peace period (*˘︶˘*).｡.:*♡
If it's incredible honestly Ratbat as a Con leader is hard to take seriously when all his minions are twice his size being the brother of the Casettes is much more fun especially if he ever meets the human cast of G1 since I imagine he will be terrified of them
Honestly Soundwave and Starscream are my favorite Cons (I love the Prime versions of both and the Animated one of Soundwave as well as the Earthspark S1 of Starscream)
and the idea of Ratbat being born later is interesting
Wait yeah, that’s super funny to think about XD. This is giving me so many ideas, I think I’m def going to write something to add now. Not specifically to this fic but to the AU for sure. I’ve already got a companion piece (for this specific chapter actually) so it’s probably going to be another add on.
They’re both some of my favs too! Honestly, I just love Cons in general though, they’re all so fun but these two are def my favs and the reason I want to scream every time I see them around.
If both are great I always feel sorry for Starscream when he gets beaten even though in most cases he doesn't deserve it and speaking of Megatron why did he redeem himself at the end of Predacon Rising when he was by far the most evil of the Cons while all his other subordinates except Knock Out suffered horrible fates?
When I got to the scene where he just gave up I was just so confused because like, where the heck did that come from Megs ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡ It felt so hollow, undeserved and out of nowhere. And then he just left without anyone really having reaction or attempt to stop him either.
If that is to say Megatron attempted to Cybertronify the Earth by killing all organic life on it (twice!) the first time leading to Optimus destroying the only way to save his home planet not to mention how he constantly drugged himself with Satan's blood and almost killed Raf near the end of season 1 not to mention everything else he did in both the series and the WoC and FoC video games and throughout the war and at the end of the day... they just let him go? Prime Megs is possibly THE most evil version of the Leader Con but is one of the ones that comes out better
Meanwhile, not counting Knock Out and the remaining Vehicons and if we don't take into account RID 2015, all the other Cons of the series (of which only Airachnid was as bad as Megs) are dead (Makeshift, Skyquake, Breakdown, Hardshell and Dreadwing) presumed dead (Airachnid, The Insecticons and Starscream) trapped in another dimension (Soundwave and Laserbeak) or their whereabouts are unknown (Shockwave and The Predacons) but Megs? Right now he must be resting on some Energon-rich Moon
Damn, I didn’t realize he was just as bad in the games too. It really was a decision to redeem him ಠ_ಠ
Makes me happy that I did a lot of changes in this AU. Nothing that’s going to be mentioned outside of references for myself and maybe a bonus chapter in this fic but yeahhh, I can’t imagine things being as idealistic as I want to make them with actual canon. The power of AUs (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
Well I've never played the games but apparently they take place in the same Continuity as Prime so it counts after all it was Megs who poisoned the core of Cybertron with Dark Energon
I hope so as I said Prime and Earthspark S1 are my favorite versions of Starscream
