    Not an intrusion at all! I love discussing this kind of thing! 😊 You're absolutely right about Tom—he’s as old as the hills (literally) Ii can't believe I forgot about him. The four I was talking about are Cirdan, Galadriel, Glorfindel, and Malgor.

    Treebeard was alive during that time too but I don't think Gandalf knows him.

    Your comment also made me realize that I should include the other wizards in this since I think they were around during the time of the trees.

    I changed the line so it's now "there are very few in middle earth" instead of giving an exact number

      If you are interested, there is an amazing fic starring young Fili and Kili (way before the quest) encountering, yes, Tom Bombadil 😉, where we get a nice view into Tom's lore : Illusions by ItalianHobbit on AO3 (and prequel Race against Time eventually) !!
