      I should have probably specified that I am really only a fan of this ship in the context of a cinder fall redemption story. And I do agree it does feel icky outside of that context.

      Also curious as to why you find this relationship so gross. If I had to guess it’s an age gap thing.

        I don’t inherently have problems with age gaps (I ship Snowbird, so that much is obvious). It’s more to do with the fact that Ruby is a minor, and Cinder is not

          At this point in the story Ruby Rose is 17 years old which is old enough to consent in most places around the world. The biggest exception are certain states in the United States.

          I would also like to add that in my head cannon I think of Neapolitan as being younger than she is stated to be in cannon (21-25). I personally place her in an age range between 15-17 the main reasons are her hight and impulsive/ childlike for lack of a better word behavior. There is also some more circumstantial evidence as well first is that Roman was originally intended to be a much younger character closer to Ruby’s age if I am remembering correctly. I don’t think it would be to big of a stretch to assume some elements of that version of the character were worked into Neapolitan’s character. This last piece of evidence is probably a stretch but she reminds me a lot of the Batman character Cassandra Cain (age 17) who is also a mute character that speaks through her actions. Also Cassandra backstory is pretty much verbatim the same as mercury’s down to their father being essentially the same character one of the best assassins in their respective universes who take something from their child to make them a better cold blooded killer. The reason I bring this up is cause it is weird that elements of this character appeared twice almost verbatim.
