    I don't know much about banking. What financial mechanism is Dudley going to use to beat Malfoy?

      Malfoy thinks that the money is lying around and the bank is paying its customers. In reality, the bank is using the customers' money to make more money. The interest that the customer receives is only a part of the interest earned by the bank. In other words, Malfoy gave Dudley more capital to work with. Dudley can triple Malfoy's money. If Malfoy had participated in the creation of the bank, he would have received more than just interest.
