      Haha I did skip over what Dirk said because it was revealed in the game xD
      Dirk doesn't himself know everything about Lloyd's backstory, so we will gradually find out more about it in future chapters when Lloyd finds out, but here's a snippet showing what Dirk explained in the game this early on:
      Dirk: …Your Exsphere is special.
      Lloyd: Special? Is it different from the ones the Desians have equipped?
      Dirk: …That Exsphere is your mother’s keepsake. The Desians killed your mother
      in order to take it from her.
      Lloyd: …They did?
      Dirk: I told you about how I found you at the cliff near the ranch, right? Your
      mother was still conscious at that time, so she explained everything. There’s
      no doubt about it.
      Lloyd: (getting angry) Why didn’t you ever tell me?!
      Dirk: If I had, you’d have run out and tried to take revenge on the Desians.
      The Tower of Salvation appeared today. Just leave the rest to Colette. That’ll
      take care of the Desians, too.
