      lady ghess didn't invite them home for the festivities, didn't she? not sure they'd want to go home, either. poor kids.

      hm.
      with the previous lady ghess having been the heiress to the estate, i wonder if her death hadn't been the plan of the current lord and lady ghess in the first place. marry and kill her, then install the mistress as the rightful lady, coup successful.
      though there are children. on the other hand, contraception probably isn't much of a thing yet, especially not among the gentry.
