Poor Lana. Between force disrupters on Rishi and slugthrowers on Yavin its a wonder that she chooses to continue to hang around Eva and her crew. And considering their Mandalorian origins, its maybe not so surprising if Lana follows her in-game counterpart and suggests that maybe the galaxy doesn't need quite so many armed Mandalorians running around.
Theron gently turned her face in the light again. “You hide in plain sight. You’re always in disguise.” She nodded in his hands. “One of these days, you’ll have to show me everything without the costume.” Eva’s eyes opened wide as Lana’s voice broke in from across the room. “Not now and not here, Theron.” Theron slowly realized what he just said as well as -- “That-that came out wrong.” Theron let her go, quickly, eyes racing to find where Lana was. She wasn’t even looking at them, her back turned as she worked at another console. “On the contrary. I think it came out right,” Eva murmured to him. Theron felt fire in his head as she flounced off, all too pleased with herself. I love them your honour.
“Nothing ever stays dead in this galaxy, does it? Truer words have never been spoken about the Star Wars galaxy
And you do some of the absolute best build up to a reveal in any media that I've read, watched, or otherwise consumed. The slow burn of Eva's and Theron's relationship is amazing. And so is the build up of the Eva/Darmas relationship and fall out. Every bit of information that we've got to this point, especially Eva's and Risha's conversation here is so well done.
Based on how hardened she is already in the game, it's easy to forget that Risha is only 21 at the game's start. Literally, she, Eva, and Corso are college-aged kids. She may be the wisest of the bunch, but they are just kids. And Darmas fooled her. That's how good he is, as a spy: he fooled Risha Drayen, who has been trained since birth to con people, not be conned. It gives us a sort of indicator about how good Darmas was; Risha's 'failure' here humanizes her, but it also gives her a chance to save Eva and defend her - if Risha didn't know, how could anyone else?
And she's watching her friend make the same mistake of falling for a spy, though this time she knew it going in. Akaavi sees it too, and it's faaaar less optimistic on that end of the table. One of the things I enjoyed while writing the fics was how others were watching this happen. Sometimes, you just get the romance and not the live reaction from the rest of the crew; they get sidelined in favor of the romantic interest. When it's a company effort, you get the full spectrum of reaction.
