   He just doesn't want them to fall into the same pit he did. Isolation really messed him up. So he tries to include them, get them out more abd interacting with others. But he also realises that forcing it won't help - that's not what he wanted with his siblings and that's not what they want either. It's just hard to find the balance of helping vs forcing, hence why he suggest Shads spends time with Espio instead.

      Yeah his past is certainly haunting him still. Sonic wants the best for his friends and tries to help the only way he knows to.

         All he's ever wanted is to help. He just has his own ways of doing it sometimes; like leaving his siblings to keep them safe.
