HEY THERE thank you for such a thoughtful comment and for including critique - i really genuinely appreciate you taking the time to do this, it's such an invaluable thing :)
admittedly i haven't really read much other fic set around this period but i'm glad to hear that, if nothing else, it's a little different, haha. as you've probably picked up on a lot of the narration is pretty tongue-in-cheek. hinata's got a lot going on internally and he's sort of fed up with himself about it, and one of the best aspects of hinata's character imo is how splendidly narky he can get, which informed a lot of the 'ugh get it together you loser' tone. he went into the initial conversation with komaeda trying to seem composed and rational but sadly he's not exactly in a composed and rational state of mind at the moment ;)
the idea of hinata's physique post-kamukura and the whole #ultimate #goals element is tangibly exciting to me and every single reference i have made and will make to it is pure self-indulgence so i'm glad someone else enjoyed it lmao.
just re: the whole hand deal, it's less the physical aspect of the hand that bothers hinata and more the psychological/emotional aspect (because i agree with you - the first instance of him grabbing komaeda by the hand in 2.5 was a pretty powerful moment in terms of what it demonstrates about the way hinata feels about komaeda and it honestly shook me to the core). he's not so much concerned about the gross-out factor - his rationale is more grounded in being upset at the idea of komaeda a) using it as a form of self harm and b) keeping it around to essentially harm/punish himself further. it's part of why komaeda turned it back on hinata and the possibility that his concern is maybe more for his own sake than komaeda's (which also fed into komaeda suggesting it might have been better for hinata to let him stay in the programme). it's less about him being grossed out like 'ew creepy dead hand' and more kind of his own perspective on how it might impede komaeda's healing/growth clashing with komaeda's more extreme/eccentric philosophy. IF THAT MAKES SENSE. HAHA.
but seriously - thank you for the feedback and for sticking with the story. it's always a pleasure when someone takes the time to engage critically with something you've written :) xx
