Comment on Layers of civility

  1. Feral to the point of insanity. I loved this so much can't stop staring at my phone and grinning. I am in polite society and cannot admit to anyone the source of my giddiness, Maxwell and I have that in common.

    My favorite parts:

It's past time for marriage, boy. You've near completed your studies and I have a number of business partners willing to open a position for you.

If it's all the same to you, father, I'd rather not marry at all.

He has the courage for many things. But not for that.

He looks presentable. Sociable even. If one doesn't look too closely at his eyes. At the trapped creature they reflect, in its desperate struggle to get out.

He meets Christopher's eyes and sees the faintest reflection of a trapped thing there as well.

It's a ritual they have. One that settles him at the same time as it gets him worked up. Makes him want to hit something.

You're such a good writer, this series is a gift

    1. Thank you so much! Your comments made me want to keep going and write more on Maxwell and I'm hoping today will be the day! I really liked the way this one came together and it's lovely to see the lines you enjoyed the most. I particularly like the subtext of the last one, how Kit's hands on his body make Maxwell want to be violent. All of the unspoken 'more' he may not even know he wants. It's so delicious to me.

    2. No pressure to read, but I added a post-fight chapter to this little tidbit if you're interested :)
