  1. I love your comments! I think we see Tommy in the same way. He's a sweet guy who was forced to grow up and toughen up waaay too fast.

    Also, I really think the mum was likely a big part of Tommy's life and her death probably also took away a big part of him too. That's why I put the line about his faith burning in the caravan with her.

    An aspect I love in the show is that Tommy (compared to his siblings) is very close to his culture and Romani heritage. Almost just as much as Polly, but he isn't religious like Polly, so in my head, that's where he deserted this part of his beliefs.

    1. Exactly, I agree that we see Tommy the same way. I think his mother's death was a loss that changed his life forever and he lost a part of himself with her, just like later in the war. There are signs in the show that he was religious before his life turned into a series of losses, so I love that you made it start with losing his mother. I think his cultural heritage connects him to her in a way, that's why he embraces it so much.
