Yesss you get it!! It's basically the same thing they did when Ethan was small, but who's going to tell them to stop? How would they pick up on if it's unhealthy or not when they're basically isolated together?
Ryan is definitely the kind of guy who believes there's always a right thing to do, and believes that if he works hard and smart, he can always fix the problem. He's really confident because he has experience, the law, and his strong moral compass behind him! I'm happy you think it's interesting!! :)
