Chapter 1: Arriving
Chapter Text
In a theater there was a bright light and when it faded a bunch of men looked around confused.
”What the fuck!?” John Mayer, yelled looking around last he remembered he was at one of his tours after Taylor Swift announced Speak Now Taylor’s Version and people in the crowd were singing Dear John to him.
“Hey look there’s a note.” Travis Kelce said, noticing a piece of paper on a table. Taylor Lautner picked it up, he didn’t want to be near John Mayer.
”It says hello welcome to the reacting room you were all chosen to be here and listen to all of Taylor Swift’s songs either about you or something else.” He read out loud.
”Oh yeah she’s still doing that music thing.” John said.
”She still is.” Joe Alwyn said, sure his relationship with Taylor was starting to get rocky but it could be fixed if they just didn’t go out in public.
”Well why are all of us here to listen to our crazy exes music.” Jake Gyllenhaal said.
”She’s not crazy.” Travis, Taylor, and Tom all said and looked at each other since they found Taylor nice.
“Okay I know you all dated her but what’s with stoner and American football?” Joe Alwyn asked, Travis bit his tongue he just went one date with Taylor and it was really good and they did plan a second one.
“I mean when I won my second Super Bowl ring I said I wanted a date with her, you and her broke up, dude.” Travis said to be nice. Matty Healy just nodded.
“I had a good couple months.” He said shrugging not caring that him and Taylor broke up they both had different ideas and he still liked her music and admired her.
“Okay well is there a door we can leave?” Jake said, he’d rather be anywhere else than listen to songs someone humiliated him with, John nodded they went to a door and saw a brick wall.
“Guess we’re stuck here.” Jonas said sitting in a recliner. The others nodded and sat down. Taylor and Tom in a love seat since the two both had good relationships with Taylor. Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer were together in a corner. Joe Alwyn was sitting near a window that was unopenable just staring out of it not believing him and Taylor broke up. Travis got a love seat to himself next to Taylor and Tom. Conor was just sitting on the floor near Travis. Harry sat in a recliner next to Taylor and Tom maybe he’d be able to talk to them since none of them got bad break up songs. Matty was just in random chair not know where else to sit, Calvin was sitting near a wall away from Tom.
“Okay it seems we don’t have to listen in order so why not just shuffle.” Taylor said with the remote.
“Seems like a good idea.” Travis said shrugging, Taylor hit shuffle and the song first chosen was Dear John and John mentally swore already done with this.
Chapter 2: Dear John
Summary:
The guys react to Dear John
Notes:
I will take song requests to get them out since I want to see what readers will want out more.
Joe Jonas and Joe Alwyn will be referred to as their last names to avoid confusion.
Also for characters I’m going off of what I’ve seen, heard, and Taylor’s songs about them.
Chapter Text
The guys all sat down as the song started Taylor Lautner just glared at John knowing why this song was made.
Long were the nights when
My days once revolved around you
Counting my footsteps
Praying the floor won't fall through again
And my mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You paint me a blue sky
And go back and turn it to rain
And I lived in your chess game
But you changed the rules every day
Wondering which version of you I might get on the phone tonight
Well, I stopped picking up and this song is to let you know why
”Oh come on I never changed and she just was annoying.” John said offended.
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home
I should've known
“Oh poor Taylor.” Tom said and Taylor nodded.
”You still like her music even after a break up?” Travis asked, he liked her music but wasn’t exactly fully knowledgeable on her ex boyfriend’s.
“Yeah I still love her music mate, I got a nice breakup song.” Tom said smiling. Taylor nodded happy that he could have a buddy to listen to these songs with.
Well, maybe it's me
And my blind optimism to blame
Or maybe it's you and your sick need
To give love then take it away
And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors
Who don't understand
And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said
"Run as fast as you can"
”Oh she’s just being dramatic I wasn’t that bad.” John said, feeling like he had to defend himself and Taylor just glared at John ready to punch him, he might be Taylor’s ex but he cared about her like a sister.
“Damn what did you do to make her not listen to people saying run?” Jonas asked, he may not be the best at relationships but never had an ex tell a current girl he was with to run far and fast away.
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home
Dear John, I see it all now, it was wrong
Don't you think nineteen's too young
To be played by your dark, twisted games when I loved you so?
I should've known
“Wait a minute.” Harry and Tom said and Taylor paused and did a little pray motion that he was praying for John.
“Did she just say nineteen?” Harry asked.
”Yeah?” John asked.
”How old are you now?” Tom asked.
“46.” John said shrugging. Conor did some math and made a disgusted face realizing there was a 12 year age gap.
“That’s not a relationship that’s grooming.” Conor said.
”Weren’t you 18 and fresh out of high school when you got with her?” John asked Conor.
“That’s different it was a 4 year age gap not some creepy shit like you.” Harry said, sure he was cheating dick to Taylor but he’s changed and they made amends and she could’ve really destroyed his career back in the day.
“Whatever can we get this over with.” John said noticing Travis glaring at him and reaching for a football that was next to his seat.
You are an expert at sorry and keeping the lines blurry
Never impressed by me acing your tests
All the girls that you've run dry have tired lifeless eyes
'Cause you burned them out
But I took your matches before fire could catch me
So don't look now
I'm shining like fireworks over your sad empty town
Oh, oh
”How the hell am I the one with a ten minute song meanwhile you are clearly worse.” Jake said, he didn’t understand why he’s getting hate but literally John Mayer was borderline sexual groomer.
“How come the J’s are so problematic?” Conor asked and Travis shrugged at the young man.
“I don’t know man.” He said and tossed the football up and down.
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress, cried the whole way home
I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress wrote you a song
You should've know
Taylor and Tom were glaring at John practically everyone was except for Jake who was smiling that the first one wasn’t about him. “Can we listen to your breakup songs?” John asked pointing at Jake.
“Hey I wasn’t as bad as a 12 year age gap.” Jake said.
“Yeah and I don’t have a 10 minute version of this.” John said.
“Are they arguing who was the worst boyfriend?” Harry asked Tom.
“I think so.” Tom said nodding confused at who would argue about who has a worse breakup song.
You should've known
Don't you think I was too young?
You should've known
“That was a good song definitely not nice in context but her singing was beautiful in it.” Travis said.
“Agreed dude.” Taylor said and another note fell down in Travis’s lap. He picked it up to read.
“Okay it says that in the back there’s a snack table.” He said and they turned and saw a snack table.
”At least they’re feeding us.” Jonas said and everyone got food and looked at Alwyn who just looked outside. Tom went to check his pulse and Alwyn turned to look at Tom.
“Sorry.” Tom said thankful that Alwyn was alive. They all sat down and Taylor clicked the remote and the song Red was shown and John laughed at Jake’s shocked expression.
Chapter 3: Red
Summary:
The guys now react to Red.
Notes:
No one likes Jake Gyllenhaal or John Mayer
Chapter Text
“Payback is a bitch.” John laughed and Jake saw Travis picked up the football tossing it up and down, he started hiding his head in fear of a flying projectile.
Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind
Once you're already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn, so bright, just before they lose it all
“Wow right out the gate.” John said and he felt a small hit with a football. He turned at Travis.
“Sorry I might’ve been your fan but now I’ll burn my John Mayer shirt.” Travis and Taylor laughed and high fives his new friend and Tom was vibing with the beat.
Losing him was blue, like I'd never known
Missing him was dark gray, all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know
Somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red
Everyone looked and saw Tom and Taylor singing along to the chorus, they were both swifte’s so they knew rhe choruses.
“See and no mention of an age.” Jake said.
“Weren’t you 9 years older.” Matty said and Jake glared at Matty who threw his hands in a surrender position.
Touching him was like realizing all you ever wanted
Was right there in front of you
Memorizing him was as easy as knowing all the words
To your old favorite song
Fighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword
And realizing there's no right answer
Regretting him was like wishing you never found out
That love could be that strong
”What did you do to her to make her go from you to two 18 year olds?” Harry asked him.
“It must’ve been a hellish 3 months.” Tom said looking it up on his phone.
“We have our phones?” Conor asked taking his out and the other shrugged.
Losing him was blue, like I'd never known
Missing him was dark gray, all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know
Somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Oh, red
Burning red
”I get it I was a dick, you three don’t need to sing along!” Jake yelled at the three T’s otherwise known as Travis, Taylor, and Tom.
”Hey it’s a crime to not sing along to Tay’s songs.” Travis said, using her nickname easily.
“It’s true.” Taylor nodded with Travis and Tom nodded and the three glared at Jake.
Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes
Tell myself it's time now gotta let go
But moving on from him is impossible
When I still see it all in my head
In burning red
Burning, it was red
”See she has flashbacks of me.” Jake said trying to save himself.
”PTSD maybe?” Calvin said.
”Oh come on didn’t you have a bad relationship with her?” Jake asked Calvin.
“She was too popular and for me those relationships never work.
Oh, losing him was blue, like I'd never known
Missing him was dark gray, all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know
Somebody you never met
'Cause loving him was red
Yeah, yeah, red
Burning red
“It was clearly toxic.” Tom said feeling bad for Taylor.
“We’ll probably listen to her ten minutes All Too Well.” Travis said.
“Yeah I was definitely worse Gyllenhaal.” John said and Jake glared at John.
“You both sucked.” Conor yelled throwing popcorn at the two.
“Hey don’t throw popcorn they aren’t worth it.” Travis told Conor.
And that's why he's spinning 'round in my head
Comes back to me, burning red
Yeah, yeah
His love was like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street
”I like how she ended it with the beginning.” Tom said.
“Dead end street seriously mate you messed her up.” Harry said. Jake had his hands in his hair.
“Whatever she probably deserved everything we both did to her.” John said and suddenly felt a football to the back of the head, he glared at Travis who just smiled innocently like he didn’t do anything, Taylor and Tom laughed. The next song appeared to start up.
Chapter Text
They all waited for it to load and Travis instantly knew the song from the beat and smiled.
Nice to meet you, where you been?
I could show you incredible things
Magic, madness, heaven, sin
Saw you there and I thought
"Oh, my God, look at that face
You look like my next mistake
Love's a game, wanna play?" Ay
Travis was singing along. “Favorite song?” Harry asked.
”Yeah funny enough she’s nothing like that.” Travis said.
”Yeah I’m kinda worried since she’s gonna be releasing 1989 TV soon.” Harry said.
”What do you mean she’s still releasing Speak Now TV.” Taylor and and John said.
“What no she just released that.” Travis said.
“No she just released Lover. What’s TV?” Calvin said and they looked at him confused.
“Did we come from different times.” Jonas said and they all nodded as a probably a note fell on Jake’s lap, he looked at it.
“We are some of us are from during Red TV releasing, some from Speak Now TV, and so on. Calvin is the most early coming from her Lover era.” Jake said.
”Okay now that’s that figured out, back to the song.” Taylor said.
New money, suit and tie
I can read you like a magazine
Ain't it funny? Rumors fly
And I know you heard about me
So hey, let's be friends
I'm dying to see how this one ends
Grab your passport and my hand
I can make the bad guys good for a weekend
”This isn’t about you right?” Conor asked Harry.
“No I have Style and Out Of The Woods.” Harry said, he didn’t mind Conor they dated Taylor close together but it wasn’t cheating.
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over, mm
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
'Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game
“She is insane!” Jake yelled, and they almost felt bad but then again he was a dick and they got over that feeling.
“Not insane.” Travis, Taylor, and Tom all said and Harry and Conor nodded agreeing.
'Cause we're young, and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far
It'll leave you breathless, mm
Or with a nasty scar
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
But I've got a blank space, baby
And I'll write your name
Tom, Taylor, Travis, and Harry were singing along as Matty hummed along and John’s eye was twitching
Cherry lips, crystal skies
I could show you incredible things
Stolen kisses, pretty lies
You're the King, baby, I'm your Queen
Find out what you want
Be that girl for a month
Wait, the worst is yet to come, oh, no
”Who can even think she’s anything like this.” Tom said and Jake, John, and Jonas looked at him.
“Try having a whole album written about how you’re a dick.” Jonas said.
“Or have a ten minute version written.” Jake said.
“Um dude there was also a short movie done for the song.” Taylor said.
“Oh fuck!” Jake yelled not knowing about that.
“Sucks to be you.” John said laughing and they just raised an eyebrow at this guy.
Screaming, crying, perfect storms
I can make all the tables turn
Rose garden filled with thorns
Keep you second guessing like
"Oh, my God, who is she?"
I get drunk on jealousy
But you'll come back each time you leave
'Cause, darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream
“She does get drunk on jealousy.” Calvin said shooting a quick glare at Tom, who looked away feeling slightly guilty.
“Hey mate I’m sorry.” Tom said.
“What did you do?” Jake asked.
”Taylor conveniently forgot that I existed.” Calvin said.
“It just happened, we started going out.” Tom said shrugging.
“Well you aren’t that memorable.” Matty said and felt a pillow to the face. “Rude.” He commented.
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over, mm
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
'Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game
Taylor smirked. “Well she definitely loves a football player right now in my time.”
”It was only the first date.” Travis said blushing.
“Good luck I give you two about a month.” John said.
“I don’t know she’s never dated a football player before it might be longer.” Tom said on the side of Taylor and Travis.
“I thought it was long list of Starbucks lovers.” Jonas said.
”This must be her re-record.” Harry said.
'Cause we're young, and we're reckless (oh)
We'll take this way too far
It'll leave you breathless, mm (oh)
Or with a nasty scar
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane (insane)
But I've got a blank space, baby
And I'll write your name
“She’s acting like she has a burn book.” Travis said and Taylor laughed.
“My wife loves Mean Girls.” He said.
”Oh you actually got married after getting a break up song?” Jake said.
”His was a nice break up song.” Tom defended his now friend.
Boys only want love if it's torture
Don't say I didn't, say I didn't warn ya
Boys only want love if it's torture
Don't say I didn't, say I didn't warn ya
They heard a sigh and saw Alwyn still looking out the window.
”He seriously has not sunken in that him and Tay broke up.” Travis said.
“I protected her, kept her away from the public.” Alwyn said and Taylor gave him a weird look.
“Were you in love with her or giving her Stokholm syndrome, I mean sure the paparazzi is annoying, but it’s not too bad.” Tom said.
“Maybe for you but our life is private.” Alwyn said.
“Dude you kept her cooped up for Covid you knew she liked touring.” Matty said.
So it's gonna be forever
Or it's gonna go down in flames
You can tell me when it's over (over)
If the high was worth the pain
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane (I'm insane)
'Cause you know I love the players
And you love the game
Everyone looked at Travis, Taylor, and Tom who were lip syncing.
”Do those three have brain damage?” Jake asked.
”Maybe.” John said shrugging.
'Cause we're young, and we're reckless
We'll take this way too far (ooh)
It'll leave you breathless, mm
Or with a nasty scar (leave a nasty scar)
Got a long list of ex-lovers
They'll tell you I'm insane
But I've got a blank space, baby
And I'll write your name
The three T’s clapped after the song liking it and Jake Gyllenhaal was rocking back and forth saying she was insane. “I think Jake is broken.” Matty said.
“Nah he’ll be fine.” Travis said grabbing the remote for the the next song.
Notes:
Did I bring up the Calvin and Tom thing… Yes
Chapter 5: Exile
Summary:
The boys listen to Exile and Joe Alwyn is actually aware.
Chapter Text
They saw it loaded and Alwyn saw the name Exile and screamed. “You good?” Tom asked.
”No I wrote this song under a pseudonym for her.” Alwyn said.
“Why? I mean the only reason Taylor and I didn’t sing This is What You Came For was she wanted the song to be known and not just popular due to us dating.” Calvin said.
“Of course you don’t understand.” Alwyn said.
“He sure says that a lot.” Taylor said.
I can see you standing, honey
With his arms around your body
Laughin', but the joke's not funny at all
“She laughs at my jokes and she says they’re funny.” Travis said happily and Taylor patted him on the back.
And it took you five whole minutes
To pack us up and leave me with it
Holdin' all this love out here in the hall
“How do you write your own break up song?” Jake asked Alwyn, he shrugged.
I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
You were my town
Now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before
“Yeah we all have.” Harry said.
“I haven’t it’s been one great date.” Travis said dreamily.
“Oh dude you got it bad.” Taylor said.
I can see you starin', honey
Like he's just your understudy
Like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me
“I would!” Alwyn yelled.
”You hid her away.” Conor said.
”I know that.” Alwyn said trying to not punch the man.
Second, third, and hundredth chances
Balancin' on breaking branches
Those eyes add insult to injury
Tom took out a tissue and was dabbing his teary eyes. “How can your write a song like this?” Tom asked.
I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
I'm not your problem anymore
So who am I offending now?
You were my crown
Now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before
So I'm leavin' out the side door
”She’s offending no one.” Taylor and Travis said, Tom kept dabbing his eyes.
So step right out, there is no amount
Of crying I can do for you
All this time
We always walked a very thin line
You didn't even hear me out (you didn't even hear me out)
You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
“Damn this is the saddest breakup song.” Calvin said taking a tissue to wipe his eyes and Alwyn nodded.
“She gave signs.” Conor said also crying since this song was sad.
All this time
I never learned to read your mind (never learned to read my mind)
I couldn't turn things around (you never turned things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
So many signs, so many signs
You didn't even see the signs
”I guess I didn’t see the signs.” Alwyn said.
“None of us did except for those three morons.” Jake said gesturing to Tom, Taylor, and Travis who were sharing tissues.
I think I've seen this film before
And I didn't like the ending
You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
You were my town
Now I'm in exile, seein' you out
I think I've seen this film before
So I'm leavin' out the side door
“Why didn’t she just understand I kept her safe.” Alwyn said.
“I mean from the looks Travis can keep her safe.” Taylor said and Travis smiled, there was something about protecting his girl that made him happy.
So step right out, there is no amount
Of crying I can do for you
All this time
We always walked a very thin line
You didn't even hear me out (didn't even hear me out)
You never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
”She gave signs.” Taylor, Travis, and Tom said wiping tears.
“Shut up this was years before we broke up.” Alwyn said.
“You two broke up in 2023, this was done in 2020.” Travis said and Alwyn huffed.
All this time
I never learned to read your mind (never learned to read my mind)
I couldn't turn things around (you never turned things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (I gave so many signs)
”Her mind is hard to read.” Jonas said trying to defend the other Joe.
“I don’t need you pity.” Alwyn said looking back out the window.
All this time (so many signs)
I never learned to read your mind (so many signs)
I couldn't turn things around (I couldn't turn things around)
'Cause you never gave a warning sign (you never gave a warning sign)
You never gave a warning sign
Ah, ah
”That was so damn sad.” Taylor said wiping his eyes the others agreed a note fell down and Tom picked it up.
“Apparently I 2024 Taylor releases a new album called The Tortured Poets Department and we will listen to songs from there too and we’ll listen to So High School first.” Tom said.
“Cool that sounds like a cute song.” Travis as it started loading up.
Chapter 6: So High School
Summary:
The boys now react to one of the song about Travis Kelce.
Notes:
This one has been requested twice by Zatannaluvr213 and a Guest commenter. It’s also one of my favorite songs.
Chapter Text
They waited as the song started up.
I feel so high school every time I look at you
I wanna find you in a crowd just to hide from you
“Aw that’s so sweet I wonder who it’s about.” Tom said.
And in a blink of a crinkling eye
I'm sinking, our fingers entwined
Cheeks pink in the twinkling lights
Tell me 'bout the first time you saw me
I'll drink what you think, and I'm high
From smoking your jokes all damn night
The brink of a wrinkle in time
Bittersweet sixteen suddenly
They swayed back and forth listening and liking it playing, Jake and John scoff wondering who could make her so happy that she wrote this.
I'm watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night
Your friends are around, so be quiet
I'm trying to stifle my sighs
'Cause I feel so high school every time I look at you
But look at you
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
”Okay we can rule out all British men there.” Tom said and Harry nodded.
Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? (Kill me)
It's just a game, but really (really)
I'm bettin' on all three for us two (all three)
Get my car door, isn't that sweet? (That sweet)
Then pull me to the backseat (backseat)
No one's ever had me (had me), not like you
“Wait marry, kiss, kill. This song is about me she wrote a song about me!” Travis cheered.
”How do you know that?” Jonas asked.
“Back in the day I had a dating show called Catching Kelce and they had marry, kiss, kill and it was Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, and Taylor I chose Taylor as kiss, Katy as marry, and kill Ariana.” Travis retold.
“How!” Jake and John yelled at this football player got Taylor to write a whole happy love song.
“You open her car door and help her in you don’t just make a run for it?” Matty asked.
“Why would I that’s not how a guy is supposed to do it.” Travis said.
“This doesn’t song anything like Lover.” Alwyn said.
”Well Lover has anxiety undertones to it.” Taylor said.
Truth, dare, spin bottles
You know how to ball, I know Aristotle
Brand new, full-throttle
Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto
It's true, swear, scouts honor
You knew what you wanted and boy, you got her
Brand new, full-throttle
You already know, babe
”That’s true I know how to ball and she knows Aristotle.” Travis said. Conor showed him a paper and pen wanting an autograph and Travis did one for Conor.
“Wait, mate you seem to be quite handsy with touch me while your boys play grand theft auto.” Tom said.
“Well she’s very pretty and if she lets me why not.” Travis said shrugging and blushing.
I feel like laughing in the middle of practice
Do that impression you did of your dad again
I'm hearing voices like a madman
“She likes my impressions.” Travis said smiling he loved hearing that in 2024 his and Taylor’s relationship will be going strong.
And in a blink of a crinkling eye
I'm sinking, our fingers entwined
Cheeks pink in the twinkling lights
Tell me 'bout the first time you saw me
I'll drink what you think, and I'm high
From smoking your jokes all damn night
The brink of a wrinkle in time
Bittersweet sixteen suddenly
“Damn you make us all look like fools you get a song making her feel like it’s high school.” Taylor said.
“I make you all look like jamokes.” Travis said.
“Sure whatever a jamoke is.” Harry said
I'm watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night
Your friends are around, so be quiet
I'm trying to stifle my sighs
'Cause I feel so high school (I feel so high school)
Every time I look at you
But look at you
Travis was on cloud nine she sang about him and it did feel like they could be in high school.
Truth, dare, spin bottles (yeah)
You know how to ball, I know Aristotle
Brand new, full-throttle (yeah)
Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto
It's true, swear, scouts honor (yeah)
You knew what you wanted and boy, you got her
Brand new, full-throttle (yeah)
You already know, babe
You already know, babe
”Man she must really love you.” Conor said.
“That was a nice difference than that heartbreak we got from Alwyn.” Calvin said and Alwyn flipped Calvin off.
Chapter 7: Back To December
Summary:
The boys now do Back To December
Notes:
This again was requested by a Guest. Also another one of my favorites.
Chapter Text
The song loaded and Taylor was happy to see his break up song.
I'm so glad you made time to see me
How's life? Tell me, how's your family?
I haven't seen them in a while
You've been good, busier than ever
We small talk, work and the weather
Your guard is up and I know why
”This sounds remorseful.” Harry said.
“It is we tried to make things work but she was on tour and I was filming the Twilight movies so it just didn’t work.” Taylor said.
Because the last time you saw me
Is still burned in the back of your mind
You gave me roses and I left them there to die
”I thought we weren’t getting more heartbreak!” Calvin yelled.
“She has over a dozen songs written about us.” Matty said.
“Not about you.” Jonas pointed out.
“She wrote a song about Kelce I’ll probably have a few on that new album.” Matty said.
So this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright
I go back to December all the time
”She’d go back?” Jake said confused, Travis and Tom patted their friend, Taylor, on the back.
These days, I haven't been sleepin'
Stayin' up playin' back myself leavin'
When your birthday passed and I didn't call
Then I think about summer, all the beautiful times
I watched you laughin' from the passenger's side
And realized I loved you in the fall
“Now this a nice breakup song take notes.” Harry said to John and Jake they threw crumpled up paper at him.
And then the cold came, the dark days
When fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye
”I like this song is a breakup song but apologetic which only a few get.” Tom said swaying and eating trail mix.
So this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine
I'd go back to December, turn around and change my own mind
I go back to December all the time
”Oh come on, the guy who played a werewolf gets more of an apology then us?” Jake said.
“You literally broke up with her saying she was too young than go for a girl who’s 20.” Conor said.
“I mean I at least know I was a dick.” Harry said.
I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile
So good to me, so right
And how you held me in your arms that September night
The first time you ever saw me cry
Maybe this is wishful thinkin'
Probably mindless dreamin'
But if we loved again, I swear I'd love you right
”Damn you must be the nicest ex.” Travis said.
“I am my wife and I are known as the Swifties aunt and uncle.” Taylor said smiling.
I'd go back in time and change it, but I can't
So if the chain is on your door, I understand
”She’ll always be my friend.” Taylor said as John and Jake look pissed that somehow this guy got a nice song.
But this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright
I'd go back to December, turn around and change my own mind
I go back to December all the time
All the time
”That was actually a pretty nice song.” Calvin said, Tom nodded offering the man trail mix. “Thanks man.” Calvin said eating it.
“See we can all get along except with those two.” Travis said glaring at John and Jake who shrugged as the next song loaded.
Chapter 8: But Daddy I Love Him
Summary:
Now for them to react to a Matty song. This was requested by thunder_0204. Also this is another of my favorite songs from TTPD.
Notes:
Hey so chapters will be a little late and random since I’m a college student and my studies are coming first but I’ll try to get chapters out.
Chapter Text
The beat started and it had a country pop feel to it.
I forget how the West was won
forget if this was ever fun
I just learned these people only raise you to cage you
Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best
Clutching their pearls, sighing "What a mess"
I just learned these people try and save you
... cause they hate you
”Huh this must be from her new album wonder who it’s about.” Harry said eating some popcorn.
Too high a horse
For a simple girl to rise above it
They slammed the door on my whole world
The one thing I wanted
They all tried to think who it was they looked at Alwyn, Travis, and Matty to see who might have a reason for this song.
Now I'm running with my dress unbuttoned
Screaming "But Daddy I love him!"
I'm having his baby
No, I'm not, but you should see your faces
I'm telling him to floor it through the fences
No, I'm not coming to my senses
I know he's crazy but he's the one I want
Taylor and Tom sighed in relief from her saying she wasn’t pregnant and so did Travis, Matty, and Alwyn. “Okay well we can rule me out I’m not crazy.” Alwyn said.
“That’s debatable.” Conor said.
Dutiful daughter, all my plans were laid
Tendrils tucked into a woven braid
Growing up precocious sometimes means not growing up at all
He was chaos, he was revelry
Bedroom eyes like a remedy
Soon enough the elders had convened
Down at the city hall
"Stay away from her"
The saboteurs protested too much
Lord knows the words we never heard
Just screeching tires and true love
“Oh shit.” Matty said.
“You?” They asked looking and Matty nodded knowing he was known for having bedroom eyes.
And now I'm running with my dress unbuttoned
Screaming "But Daddy I love him!"
I'm having his baby
No, I'm not, but you should see your faces
I'm telling him to floor it through the fences
No, I'm not coming to my senses
I know he's crazy but he's the one I want
Joe was trying to hope she’d come to her senses and get back with him but from So High School it looked like that was going to be a long lost dream. “I’m glad she’s not pregnant, she has too much going on with her tour and all.” Travis said smiling.
”Really you seem like the guy who’d want a family.” Calvin said.
“I do but once Tay and I are married and she isn’t stressed on tour.” Travis.
“How are you like this?” Jake asked.
“I was raised right.” Travis said.
I'll tell you something right now
I'd rather burn my whole life down
Than listen to one more second of all this bitching and moaning
I'll tell you something about my good name
It's mine alone to disgrace
I don't cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing
”I’m sorry but when did you and her get together?” Tom asked.
“Like a month after her and Alwyn broke up.” Matty said and they all nodded.
God save the most judgmental creeps
Who say they want what's best for me
Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see
Thinking it can change the beat
Of my heart when he touches me
And counteract the chemistry
And undo the destiny
You ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy
And all this wild joy
If all you want is gray for me
Then it's just white noise
And it's just my choice
“I mean you want to date an ex-druggie sure.” Tom said.
“See ex as in not anymore.” Matty said, trying to defend himself.
There's a lot of people in town that I
Bestow upon my fakest smiles
Scandal does funny things to pride
But brings lovers closer
We came back when the heat died down
Went to my parents and they came around
All the wine moms are still holding out
But fuck em it's over.
“Did her parents like you?” Taylor asked, he met her parents and they liked him they found the same name thing funny.
“Not really.” Matty said scratching his neck.
Now I'm dancing in my dress in the sun and
Even my daddy just loves him
I'm his lady, and oh my God
You should see your faces
Time, doesn't it give some perspective
No, you can't come to the wedding
I know he's crazy but he's the one I want
Taylor got an idea. “Hey Travis.” He said and Travis looked over. “Taylor’s dad played college football you ever meet him just talk to him about that.” He said and Travis nodded.
“I assume this is before breaking up?” Calvin said and Matty shrugged.
I'll tell you something right now you ain't gotta pray for me
Me and my wild boy and all of this wild joy
“I mean at least you are reffered to as a wild boy.” Tom said.
”Is it just me or does this song scream like I’m desperate for people to see he’s good.” Jonas said.
“Oh I wasn’t the only one.” Harry said.
“I mean I think her and Matty were burn bright and die quickly.” Conor said and they nodded.
He was chaos, he was revelry
If all you want is gray for me
Then it's just white noise, and it's my choice
“Okay he gets broken up and just a toxic love song.” John said.
”Dude just be happy that we haven’t gotten to your song on Midnights.” Taylor said and that shut John up since he didn’t know Midnights had him in it.
Screaming "But Daddy I love him!"
I'm having his baby
No, I'm not! But you –
Should see your faces
But oh my God you should see your faces
”I mean with how you are and your reputation it was a shock to lots you dated.” Travis said.
“I mean I found it good.” Matty said shrugging.
Chapter 9: Forever & Always
Summary:
We go all the way back Fearless.
Notes:
This was requested by a Guest and I love how much you all this fic so thanks to who is all reading.
Chapter Text
They heard the beat and Jonas mentally swore it was one of his songs he got.
Once upon a time, I believe it was a Tuesday when I caught your eye
And we caught onto something
I hold onto the night, you looked me in the eye and told me you loved me
“First mistake.” Harry said.
”I was an idiot teen.” Jonas defended.
“So was I.” Harry and Conor said shrugging.
Were you just kidding?
'Cause it seems to me, this thing is breaking down
We almost never speak
I don't feel welcome anymore
Baby what happened? Please tell me
“I apologized.” Jonas said.
“Dude you’re fine.” Travis said nodding his head along to the song.
'Cause one second it was perfect, now you're halfway out the door
The three T’s winced at the lyrics and so did Jonas he was regretful for how things ended for him and Taylor.
And I stare at the phone, he still hasn't called
And then you feel so low you cant feel nothing at all
And you flashback to when he said, "Forever and always"
Oh, and it rains in your bedroom
Everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said, "Forever and always"
“I called.” Jonas said.
“Not that type of call.” Matty said.
Was I out of line?
Did I say something way too honest, made you run and hide
Like a scared little boy
I looked into your eyes
Thought I knew you for a minute, now I'm not so sure
”She’s always out of line.” Jake said and then felt a football to the head and Travis waved smiling.
“I mean she does make us want to hide after a breakup song.” Calvin said.
“What do you mean?” Tom, Taylor, and Conor asked.
So here's to everything coming down to nothing
Here's to silence, that cuts me to the core
Where is this going? Thought I knew for a minute, but I don't anymore
“Where is this song going?” Travis asked and Jonas hid not wanting a football to the head apparently Travis isn’t afraid to throw and had good aim.
Taylor and Tom were singing along since it was catchy and they have listened to it before and Jonas just was rocking back and forth.
You didn't mean it baby, I don't think so
“After this no!” Jonas yelled somewhat scared he didn’t originally think his songs were this bad but then again they are now listening and he’s thinking about what he’s done.
Oh back up, baby, back up
Did you forget everything?
Back up, baby, back up
Did you forget everything?
”After this you’d think he’d avoid Joe‘s.” Conor said.
”You’d think after John she’d avoid all J’s.” Harry said and him and Conor high fived.
'Cause it rains in your bedroom
Everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said, "Forever and always"
“I think your problem was you promised forever.” Taylor and Travis said.
Oh, I stare at the phone, he still hasn't called
And then you feel so low you cant feel nothing at all
And you flashback to when we said, "Forever and always"
“Think Jonas is broken.” Matty said waving a hand infront of Jonas.
“Nah he’ll be fine.” Calvin said shrugging.
And it rains in your bedroom
Everything is wrong
It rains when you're here and it rains when you're gone
'Cause I was there when you said, "Forever and always"
You didn't mean it baby,
You said, "Forever and always", yeah.
“Okay so we figured out Jonas’s problem he promises things too quickly.” Taylor said and they nodded.
Chapter 10: I Forgot That You Existed
Summary:
The boys now react to I Forgot That You Existed
Notes:
This wasn't requested but I was doing a relisten to the Lover album and thought I needed to do this song.
Chapter Text
The beat started and Calvin’s eyes widened and Tom gave a sheepish smile.
How many days did I spent thinking
'Bout how you did me wrong, wrong, wrong?
Lived in the shade you were throwing
'Til all of my sunshine was gone, gone, gone
”I mean were you bad?” Harry asked looking at Calvin.
“I don’t know I thought I was okay.” Calvin said shrugging.
“Well apparently not attentive enough.” John said.
“Can we throw him out the window?” Travis asked.
”It doesn’t open.” Alwyn sighed.
And I couldn't get away from you
In my feelings more than Drake, so yeah
Your name on my lips, tongue-tied
Free rent, living in my mind
“I mean you didn’t date her that long.” Tom said not knowing what to say and that lead to Calvin tackling him. “I’m sorry!” Tom yelled and Travis picked up Calvin.
“Okay no murder.” Travis said.
“That felt good.” Calvin said.
“Mate, I’m sorry.” Tom said.
”Okay that’s all I wanted.” Calvin said nodding.
“Good so mates?” Tom asked.
“Nah but I won’t actively kill you during any of your songs.” Calvin said and Tom nodded.
But then something happened one magical night
“You know when you think about it this is actually her taking blame like with Back To December.” Taylor said.
”Oh I never thought of that.” Calvin said nodding.
I forgot that you existed
And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn't
“I mean the rest of the Swifties forgot that I dated her.” Calvin said.
“I mean this song kinda slaps.” Conor said.
”I’ll give you twenty bucks to never say that again.” Harry said and Conor nodded taking the money.
And it was so nice
So peaceful and quiet
I forgot that you existed
It isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference
I forgot that you…
Tom was singing along and they gave him a look of don’t. “Sorry it’s catchy.” Tom said.
Got out some popcorn
As soon as my rep started going down, down, down
Laughed on the schoolyard as soon as I
Tripped up and hit the ground, ground, ground
“I mean dude did you actually do that?” Travis asked Calvin.
“Her fame somewhat scared me I mean sure I’m famous but not her level of fame.” Calvin said.
And I would've stuck around for ya
Would've fought the whole town, so yeah
Would've been right there, front row
Even if nobody came to your show
Some of the guys tapped their foot to the beat. “It is catchy.” Travis said.
“I guess I did get a somewhat okay breakup song.” Calvin said.
But you showed who you are
Then one magical night
“Okay but seriously were you a dick?” Matty asked.
“Now looking back yeah.” Calvin admitted.
I forgot that you existed
And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn't
“How is it you get this catchy song and I get 10 minutes of being shitty.” Jake said.
”I mean we were together for a year.” Calvin said.
“And then it was rumored she cheated on him with me.” Tom said.
“I mean it was pretty quick you two getting together after breaking up.” Calvin said.
And it was so nice
So peaceful and quiet
I forgot that you existed
It isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference
I forgot that you...
“See we didn’t hate or anything just indifference.” Calvin defended.
Sent me a clear message
Taught me some hard lessons
I just forget what they were
It's all just a blur
They all winced since Taylor and Calvin’s relationship was quickly forgotten.
I forgot that you existed
And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn't
“Seriously I didn’t cheat but I still got shit on.” John said.
“13 year age gap.” Travis reminded him.
“Oh please you two probably have an age gap.” John said.
”Actually we don’t my birthday is only two months before her.” Travis said smiling.
And it was so nice
So peaceful and quiet
I forgot that you existed
I did, I did, I did
It isn't hate, it's just indifference
”I mean didn’t you guys delete everything of each other.” Conor said.
“Yeah I didn’t want to be just known as Taylor Swift’s ex.” Calvin said.
It isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference
Oh yeah
“I mean despite the meaning of it, it’s a nice song.” Harry said. The others nodded.
Chapter 11: The Alchemy
Summary:
The boys get another TTPD song
Notes:
This song had been requested by Teskoyo and a guest. Also I fully believe The Alchemy is about Travis just due to all the football references.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The next song loaded and they all shared a look it was unfamiliar but interesting.
This happens once every few lifetimes
These chemicals hit me like white wine
“Okay now we need to figure who this about.” Taylor said taking out a notepad.
What if I told you I'm back?
The hospital was a drag
Worst sleep that I ever had
I circled you on a map
I haven't come around in so long
But I'm coming back so strong
“Okay not Alwyn since she’s singing about coming back.” Tom said.
“You two are worse than newer Swifties.” Matty said and felt a pillow. “Okay who threw that?” He asked and Conor whistled innocently.
So when I touch down
Call the amateurs and
Cut 'em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown
Baby I'm the one to beat
Cause the sign on your heart
Said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?
”I mean maybe it’s me since touchdown and football.” Travis and Tom nodded.
Hey you, what if I told you we're cool?
That child's play back in school
Is forgiven under my rule
I haven't come around in so long
But I'm making a comeback to where I belong ...
”I mean this is a love song so it’s possible Travis since she wouldn’t write this about an ex on the album.” Taylor said.
“Yeah.” Harry said nodding.
So when I touch down
Call the amateurs and
Cut 'em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown
Baby I'm the one to beat
Cause the sign on your heart
Said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?
”I mean just the football references alone can mean Travis.” Taylor said.
These blokes warm the benches
We been on a winning streak
He jokes that it's heroin but this time with an "E"
Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?
”Nope she mentions blokes which is British and heroin.” Matty said pointing to himself.
“Still football references and wining streak.” Travis said.
Shirts off, and your friends lift you up over their heads
Beer sticking to the floor
Cheers chanted, cause they said
There was no chance, trying to be
The greatest in the league
Where's the trophy?
He just comes running over to me
”That’s Travis.” Tom said pointing. “I may not watch American football but I’ve heard of it.” Tom said.
”Huh shirts off sounds like something my brother would do.” Travis said thoughtful, maybe if he ever introduces Taylor to his family he better warn her about Jason.
Touch down
Call the amateurs and
Cut 'em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown
Baby I'm the one to beat
Cause the sign on your heart
Said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?
”What alchemy?” Conor asked looking up at Travis who shrugged.
These blokes warm the benches
We been on a winning streak
He jokes that it's heroin but this time with an "E"
Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?
”Must be good since she says we can’t fight it.” Travis said.
“Seriously we need a Lover song she loved me.” Alwyn said.
This happens once every few lifetimes
These chemicals hit me like white wine
”Seriously you’re a football player shouldn’t you be a dick.” John said.
“Nope I actually was raised right if I disrespected a woman my mom would kill me.” Travis said.
Notes:
I fully believe Tom and Taylor will just collectively try to figure out who the TTPD songs are about as they are played.
Chapter 12: Is It Over Now
Summary:
The boys learn the bad part of Taylor and Harry’s relationship.
Notes:
This was requested by a Guest also this is one of my favorite songs from 1989 TV.
Chapter Text
They heard the introduction and were confused expect Matty who laughed and looked at Harry. “Oh you’re fucked.” He said and Harry had to guess this was from the release of 1989.
Once the flight had flown (uh-huh)
With the wilt of the rose (uh-huh)
I slept all alone (uh-huh)
You still wouldn't go
“Oh shit.” Harry said, he had to guess these are the bad songs he now got.
Let's fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later
I see your profile and your smile on unsuspecting waiters
You dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor
You search in every maiden's bed for something greater
They all looked at him. “I’m not like that anymore I apologized.” Harry said.
“Okay man we seen gonna be pissed on what happened years ago.” Travis said.
Baby, was it over
When she laid down on your couch?
Was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse?
"Come here, " I whispered in your ear
In your dream as you passed out, baby
Was it over then?
And is it over now?
”Seriously he gets forgiven!?” Jake asked.
“He literally was an idiot 18 year old you were a functioning adult.” Jonas said.
When you lost control (uh-huh)
Red blood, white snow (uh-huh)
Blue dress on a boat (uh-huh)
Your new girl is my clone
They all winced hearing the clone thing. “Okay that’s just bad.” Tom said looking apologetically at Harry who nodded.
”I wonder how bad these songs get from this album.” Harry mumbled.
“Oh they get bad she was easy on the original here she didn’t hole back.” Matty said.
And did you think I didn't see you?
There were flashing lights
At least I had the decency
To keep my nights out of sight
Only rumors 'bout my hips and thighs
And my whispered sighs
Oh, Lord, I think about
Jumping off of very tall somethings
Just to see you come running
And say the one thing I've been wanting, but no
Travis and Taylor shared a wide eyed look hearing that Tay was thinking suicide to get Harry’s attention. “You changed right?” Travis asked.
“Yes I feel like an arshole for what I did and I’m now better.” Harry said.
“Okay just making sure I don’t need to football you.” Travis said.
Let's fast forward to three hundred awkward blind dates later
If she's got blue eyes, I will surmise that you'll probably date her (no)
You dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor
You search in every model's bed for something greater
“Well everyone has a type.” Calvin said.
“Still I was horrible.” Harry said.
”Hey so was I but the beauty was we were idiot 18 year olds.” Jonas said.
Baby, was it over
When she laid down on your couch?
Was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse?
"Come here, " I whispered in your ear
In your dream as you passed out, baby
Was it over then?
And is it over now?
“Okay how much of an idiot were you?” Jonas asked.
“A big one.” Harry said sighing he should’ve known that with Taylor’s rereleases and extra songs there’d be bad ones about him.
Uh-huh
Uh-huh
”I mean at least we know you’re better.” Taylor said, Harry nodded.
“Oh come on!” John and Jake yell since they didn’t get forgiven they just get glares.
Think I didn't see you?
There were flashing lights
At least I had the decency
To keep my nights out of sight
Only rumors 'bout my hips and thighs
And my whispered sighs
Oh, Lord, I think about
Jumping off of very tall somethings
Just to see you come running (running)
And say the one thing I've been wanting, but no
“I didn’t know I was making her like this during our relationship.” Harry said.
Let's fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later
(Flashing lights) I was hoping you'd be there
And say the one thing (oh, Lord)
I've been wanting (oh, Lord)
But no
“Well I know feel horrible.” Harry said and Travis, Taylor, Tom, and Conor patted him on the back.
Chapter 13: You’re Losing Me
Summary:
The boys listen to the true breakup song of Alwyn
Notes:
This was suggested by a couple of people so here it is.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The boys saw the screen light up and started with Taylor’s singing.
You say, "I don't understand, " and I say, "I know you don't"
We thought a cure would come through in time, now I fear it won't
Remember lookin' at this room, we loved it 'cause of the light
Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it's time
“Hey this is about Alwyn.” Taylor said and Alwyn’s eyes widened she wrote a breakup song about him before that new album they were now listening to.
Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?
I'm getting tired even for a phoenix
Always risin' from the ashes
Mendin' all her gashes
You might just have dealt the final blow
“I mean she got over you pretty quickly.” Matty said and Alwyn looked ready to strangle the man.
Stop, you're losin' me
Stop, you're losin' me
Stop, you're losin' me
I can't find a pulse
My heart won't start anymore
For you
'Cause you're losin' me
Travis held out tissues for Tom and Taylor who thanked him and dabbed their eyes.
”Our relationship is rocky but we could figure it out.” Alwyn said.
“Isn’t Folklore things you and her sometimes yelled at each other during Quarantine?” Travis asked and Alwyn glared.
“At least I didn’t say I liked her when I made a dating show.” Alywn tried to defend.
“Hey Alwyn what have you even been in?” Conor asked.
“What do you mean?” Alwyn asked.
“Well with Tom I know he did Marvel movies but you I don’t know.” Conor said.
“Lots of things.” Alwyn said.
Every mornin', I glared at you with storms in my eyes
How can you say that you love someone you can't tell is dyin'?
I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick
My face was gray, but you wouldn't admit that we were sick
“Okay how bad were you?” Harry asked and Alwyn just seethed.
And the air is thick with loss and indecision
I know my pain is such an imposition
Now, you're runnin' down the hallway
And you know what they all say
You don't know what you got until it's gone
Alwyn just glared, how did he get this breakup song, what did he do wrong.
Stop, you're losin' me
Stop, you're losin' me
Stop, you're losin' me
I can't find a pulse
My heart won't start anymore
For you
'Cause you're losin' me
'Cause you're losin' me
Stop (stop) 'cause you're losin' me
“I get it I lost you!” Alwyn yelled like the song taunted him.
“Dude calm down.” Travis said.
“Hey if you want sit by us.” Jake said to Alwyn since it sounded like he was bad like them.
”I’d rather do anything else.” Alwyn said.
My heart won't start anymore ('cause you're losin' me)
My heart won't start anymore ('cause you're losin' me)
Tom and Taylor wiped their eyes after listening to her heart not starting.
How long could we be a sad song
'Til we were too far gone to bring back to life?
I gave you all my best me's, my endless empathy
And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier
Fighting in only your army
Frontlines, don't you ignore me
I'm the best thing at this party
(You're losin' me)
And I wouldn't marry me either
A pathological people pleaser
Who only wanted you to see her
And I'm fadin', thinkin’
“I mean 6 years and no ring that’s bad.” Matty said and Alwyn shrugged, him and Taylor were taking it slow and didn’t want to ruin a good thing.
"Do something, babe, say something" (say something)
"Lose something, babe, risk something" (you're losin' me)
"Choose something, babe, I got nothing (got nothing)
To believe
Unless you're choosin' me"
”Did I do nothing?” Alwyn asked.
“Sounds like it.” Conor said shrugging.
You're losin' me
Stop (stop, stop), you're losin' me
Stop (stop, stop), you're losin' me
I can't find a pulse
My heart won't start anymore
“You must’ve really broke her heart since she’s talking about her heart unable to start.” Calvin said.
“Hopefully I can restart it.” Travis said not liking Tay being sad.
Notes:
This is my birthday gift to you all.
Chapter 14: Lover (live)
Summary:
The boys get to see the love between Travis and Taylor.
Notes:
This has been requested by blatantlyinlovewithlove and TnTlover1989.
I’m also planning on doing Karma is a guy on the Cheif’s later down the road.
Chapter Text
They saw the screen show a video like it was of her on tour the music started and they knew it was lover.
We could leave the Christmas lights up 'til January
And this is our place, we make the rules
And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear
Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?
“It looks like she’s singing to someone.” Harry said.
“Probably me.” Alwyn said, the song was about him.
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my
Lover
The camera panned to who she was singing to and it was Travis who was singing along and Alwyn’s eyes widened as Travis cheered and Taylor and Tom applauded him.
We could let our friends crash in the living room
This is our place, we make the call
And I'm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you
I've loved you three summers now, honey, but I want 'em all
“Wait how could she find you?” Alwyn asked.
“Why wouldn’t she I’d want her to know I’d be supporting her.” Travis said.
“Is this from her running to you not knowing if you showed up?” Taylor asked and Alwyn blushed, knowing the video.
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Lover
“I think it’s sweet that it’s like you two are singing to each other.” Tom said putting a hand on his heart.
“I guess we really do love each other.” Travis said.
“I loved her.” Alwyn said.
“Clearly not enough.” Taylor pointed out.
Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue
All's well that ends well to end up with you
Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover
And you'll save all your dirtiest jokes for me
And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover
“Wait that’s my sister in law Kylie in the background guess I did introduce her to everyone.” Travis laughed nervously.
”Why that laugh?” Tom said.
“My brother is a bit unhinged.” Travis said.
“He can’t be that bad.” Tom said.
”His first date with his now wife Kylie he got blackout drunk.” Travis said remembering hearing that story.
“Nevermind.” Tom said.
“And you think you two are perfect like that?” Alwyn asked.
“I mean it’s not like it was Travis who did that.” Taylor said.
”She looks like she’s proud of you.” Conor said.
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my
Oh, you're my, my, my, my
Darling, you're my, my, my, my
Lover
“You two look so in love.” Harry said.
“That must’ve been one hell of a first date.” Taylor said, the others nodded.
Chapter 15: Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve
Summary:
The boys now listen to another John Mayer song.
Notes:
This was requested by Teskoyo.
Chapter Text
The watched the screen go back to just them listening to the songs.
If you would've blinked then I would've
Looked away at the first glance
If you tasted poison, you could've
Spit me out at the first chance
If I was some paint, did it splatter
On a promising grown man?
And if I was a child, did it matter
If you got to wash your hands?
“Who’s this one’s about?” Calvin asked and Taylor, Tom, and Travis pointed at John Mayer.
”Oh come on she’s still not over it?” He asked.
”Nineteen.” Conor and Harry said.
Ooh, oh
All I used to do was pray
Would've, could've, should've
If you'd never looked my way
Jake smirked he was happy they were not listening to one of his songs. “Hey when did you get that scarf?” Jonas asked Jake wearing a suspiciously red scarf.
“No reason.” Jake smirked.
I would've stayed on my knees
And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil
At nineteen
And the God's honest truth is that the pain was heaven
And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts
Memories feel like weapons
And now that I know, I wish you'd left me wondering
Jake screamed nineteen happily and threw the scarf at John Mayer who’s eye twitched. Taylor Lautner just did a praying motion.
If you never touched me, I would've
Gone along with the righteous
If I never blushed, then they could've
Never whispered about this
And if you never saved me from boredom
I could've gone on as I was
But, Lord, you made me feel important
And then you tried to erase us
“Oh that’s bad.” Tom said.
“If I forget her no more fans will hate me.” John said.
“Dude that’s not how that works.” Travis said.
Ooh, oh
You're a crisis of my faith
Would've, could've, should've
If I'd only played it safe
“You didn’t know he was like that.” Harry said.
“You are all horrible.” John said.
”No we’re just the nice guys.” Conor said.
I would've stayed on my knees
And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil
At nineteen
And the God's honest truth is that the pain was heaven
And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts
Memories feel like weapons
And now that I know, I wish you'd left me wondering
“We get it you were nineteen!” John yelled and the others rolled their eyes at this man.
“I feel like you don’t know how to handle guilt.” Jonas said.
“Why don’t feel that?” John asked.
”You haven’t taken responsibility that you were a dick to her.” Jonas said.
God rest my soul, I miss who I used to be
The tomb won't close, stained glass windows in my mind
I regret you all the time
I can't let this go, I fight with you in my sleep
The wound won't close, I keep on waiting for a sign
I regret you all the time
Travis and Tom mimicked Taylor’s praying motion since they knew it could get worse.
If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first
“Nevermind All Too Well this is definitely worse!” Jake cheered and John shrugged.
“She deserved it.” John said.
“That tears it.” Travis said getting up rolling his sleeves and punched John in the nose not hard enough to break but enough that it would hurt and bruise.
“I was waiting for when you would do that.” Harry said, Jake handed John an ice pack who took it and held it to his nose.
And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil
At nineteen
And the God's honest truth is that the pain was heaven
And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts
Memories feel like weapons
And now that I know, I wish you'd left me wondering
”Okay maybe you were the worse.” Matty said.
God rest my soul, I miss who I used to be
The tomb won't close, stained glass windows in my mind
I regret you all the time
I can't let this go, I fight with you in my sleep
The wound won't close, I keep on waiting for a sign
I regret you all the time
Oh, God rest my soul, I miss who I used to be
The tomb won't close, stained glass windows in my mind
I regret you all the time
I can't let this go, I fight with you in my sleep
The wound won't close, I keep on waiting for a sign
I regret you all the time
”At least she regrets you.” Taylor said and John gave him the finger.
Chapter 16: All Too Well 10 minutes
Summary:
The boys will now listen to Jake Gyllenhaal’s shame song.
Notes:
This has been requested by a guest and on my list of songs to do, I have a list of my own personal ones and all the ones I get requested from you my lovely readers.
Chapter Text
The song started and Jake Gyllenhaal screamed. “The fuck!” He yelled angry.
”I actually like the humor in this we go through one of my bad songs and we get yours.” John said still wearing the red scarf thrown at him.
I walked through the door with you, the air was cold
But something 'bout it felt like home somehow
And I left my scarf there at your sister's house
And you've still got it in your drawer, even now
”Is it this one?” John asked and Jake nodded and he threw it back hitting Jake in the face.
Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze
We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place
And I can picture it after all these days
“It can’t get worse.” Jonas said trying to at least be a peacekeeper.
”She sings this every concert.” Travis and Taylor said and Jake took a pillow and screamed in it.
And I know it's long gone and
That magic's not here no more
And I might be okay, but I'm not fine at all
Oh, oh, oh
”Oh please she dated after me.” Jake said and felt a pillow and looked at the two people who have thrown footballs and pillows. Conor waved smiling, happy that he could throw stuff.
'Cause there we are again on that little town street
You almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me
Wind in my hair, I was there
I remember it all too well
”At least you looked at her.” Matty said.
”Oh distracted driving isn’t good.” Harry said thinking about the snowmobile accident.
Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-sized bed
And your mother's telling stories 'bout you on the tee-ball team
You taught me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me
”So far it isn’t that different.” Conor said nodding along.
“Wait for it.” Taylor smirked knowing how it changes.
And you were tossing me the car keys, "fuck the patriarchy"
Key chain on the ground, we were always skipping town
And I was thinking on the drive down, any time now
He's gonna say it's love, you never called it what it was
Taylor, Tom, and Travis glared at Jake shaking their heads and Jake sighed and looked at his watch waiting for 10 minutes to go by.
'Til we were dead and gone and buried
Check the pulse and come back swearing it's the same
Tom checked his pulse then leaned over to check Alwyn’s pulse and Alwyn looked at him confused and Tom apologized.
After three months in the grave
And then you wondered where it went to as I reached for you
But all I felt was shame and you held my lifeless frame
”Seriously I get slammed meanwhile Mr. nineteen here only gets 2 songs, two men who were 18 get forgiven?” Jake asked.
“Hey I might’ve been a dick but I apologized.” Harry said.
”I also realized I was an idiot teenager.” Jonas said.
“What about us?” Tom and Taylor asked.
“You two seemed like the o my normal relationships.” Jake said.
“Nah I was way too public with my affection and she wanted privacy so with that we broke up.” Tom said and Alwyn sighed.
And I know it's long gone and
There was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to
Jake then felt a football to the head and Travis grabbed another one tossing it up and down.
'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night
We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there
I remember it all too well
And there we are again when nobody had to know
You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath
Sacred prayer and we'd swear
To remember it all too well, yeah
”Why am I feeling remorseful?” Jake asked confused.
“It’s called having a conscious.” Tom said glaring.
Well, maybe we got lost in translation
Maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece
'Til you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there
I remember it all too well
Taylor sang along with the ‘running scared’ and Jake said ‘I was there’ right as she sang it and Jake just sat there wide eyed.
And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all
”Why can’t she get over me.” Jake said.
“She did this is the original song.” Travis said. Jake just looked at his watch again.
They say all's well that ends well, but I'm in a new Hell
Every time you double-cross my mind
You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine
And that made me want to die
Tom and Taylor were lip syncing and Jake just seethed in anger.
The idea you had of me, who was she?
A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you
Not weeping in a party bathroom
Some actress asking me what happened, you
That's what happened, you
You who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes
Sipping coffee like you're on a late-night show
But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come
And he said, "It's supposed to be fun turning twenty-one"
”Oh screw her she was the one who wanted me!” Jake yelled and that led to Travis and Tom grabbing Taylor who went to beat the crap out of Jake.
“Say that again you asshole!” Taylor yelled pissed.
”Calm down mate he isn’t worth it.” Tom said and Taylor took some deep breaths and Travis handed Taylor a football and he threw it at Jake.
Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Damn hopefully I don’t get this bad of songs.” Matty said.
“You couldn’t have been that bad.” Jonas said.
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
Alwyn heard that grabbed the scarf and sniffed it and they all just gave him odd looks. Alwyn realized the looks and threw it back at Jake.
You can't get rid of it
'Cause you remember it all too well, yeah
'Cause there we are again when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
Jake looked at his watch. “I swear it’s been 10 minutes.” He said.
“Not yet.” Taylor said.
It was rare, I was there
I remember it all too well
Wind in my hair, you were there
You remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there
You remember it all
It was rare, I was there
I remember it all too well
Conor was swaying to the beat.
And I was never good at telling jokes, but the punch line goes
"I'll get older, but your lovers stay my age"
From when your Brooklyn broke my skin and bones
I'm a soldier who's returning half her weight
And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue?
Just between us, did the love affair maim you, too?
'Cause in this city's barren cold
I still remember the first fall of snow
And how it glistened as it fell
I remember it all too well
John heard lovers stay my age and laughed as Jake hit him with scarf.
Just between us, did the love affair maim you all too well?
Just between us, do you remember it all too well?
Just between us, I remember it (Just between us), all too well
Jake was rocking back and forth ready for this song to be over, wondering why it had to be this version and not the shorter one.
Wind in my hair, I was there, I was there
Down the stairs, I was there, I was there
Sacred prayer, I was there, I was there
It was rare, you remember it all too well
Wind in my hair, I was there, I was there
Down the stairs, I was there, I was there
Sacred prayer, I was there, I was there
It was rare, you remember it
Wind in my hair, I was there, I was there
Down the stairs, I was there, I was there
Sacred prayer, I was there, I was there
It was rare, you remember it
Wind in my hair, I was there, I was there
Down the stairs, I was there, I was there
Sacred prayer, I was there, I was there
It was rare, you remember it
”She’s crazy.” Jake said and Travis, Taylor, and Tom shook their heads no.
”I think you just have to be a decent human being.” Travis said and the two nodded.
Chapter 17: Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
Summary:
The boys react to another Matty Healy song.
Notes:
This was requested by MJReadings, Guests, Sophia_ER, moonshine_xo, and a ton more.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
They heard the sad music and Taylor pulled out the notepad and Tom took out a Sherlock Holmes cap and put it on.
Was any of it true?
Gazing at me starry-eyed
In your Jehovah's Witness suit
Who the fuck was that guy?
You tried to buy some pills
From a friend of friends of mine
They just ghosted you
Now you know what it feels like
”Matty.” The two said.
“How do you know it’s me?” He asked.
”Alwyn doesn’t do drugs.” Tom said.
”Did weed once and I had to miss a big game.” Travis said.
And I don't even want you back, I just want to know
If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal
And I don't miss what we had, but could someone give
A message to the smallest man who ever lived?
“Huh you are short.” Conor said and Matty huffed rolling his eyes, suddenly not really enjoying this whole listening thing.
You hung me on your wall
Stabbed me with your push pins
In public, showed me off
Then sank in stoned oblivion
'Cause once your queen had come
You treat her like an also-ran
You didn't measure up
In any measure of a man
Travis grabbed a football and threw it with force hitting Matty right in the nose as he fell down in pain. “That felt good.” Travis said and Calvin lightly kicked Matty who glared at him.
“He’s fine.” Calvin said.
And I don't even want you back, I just want to know
If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal
And I don't miss what we had, but could someone give
A message to the smallest man who ever lived?
“How do you get this bad of a song you dated her for only a month.” Travis said.
“I don’t know dude.” Matty said scared of an angry football player hurting him with more footballs.
Were you sent by someone who wanted me dead?
Did you sleep with a gun underneath our bed?
Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy?
In fifty years, will all this be declassified?
And you'll confess why you did it
And I'll say, "Good riddance"
'Cause it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden
I would've died for your sins
Instead, I just died inside
Conor opened a box and said, ‘I hate Matty Healy’ he put it on and gave one to Travis and Travis put it on and they handed them out and soon they were all wearing them except for Matty who just stood there opened mouth since Alwyn, Jake, and John joined in.
And you deserve prison, but you won't get time
You'll slide into inboxes and slip through the bars
You crashed my party and your rental car
You said normal girls were boring
But you were gone by the morning
You kicked out the stage lights
But you're still performing
”Don’t worry Tay he might not get prison but you have me and Travis to protect you.” Taylor said.
“And me if she ever comes to London.” Tom and Harry said and high fived.
”At least we have a better friendship than that.” Conor said looking at Jake and John.
”I don’t think that friendship.” Travis said since John and Jake practically loved when one song came on proving the other was worse.
And in plain sight you hid
But you are what you did
And I'll forget you, but I'll never forgive
The smallest man who ever lived
“Well since you are now hated come sit with us.” Jake said to Matty who shook his head no and went to a corner wondering what he could’ve done.
Notes:
Did I give Tom Hiddleston a Sherlock Holmes hat? Yes I did. Do I hate Matty Healy after listening to this song? Also yes.
Chapter 18: Begin Again
Summary:
The boys now get Conor Kennedy’s song.
Notes:
After the last two songs we need some happy songs.
Chapter Text
The song started and Conor smiled knowing his song was a happy song.
Took a deep breath in the mirror
He didn't like it when I wore high heels
But I do
”I can agree she looks beautiful in heels.” Travis said.
”She does I didn’t care if she was taller than me.” Conor said.
Turn the lock and put my headphones on
He always said he didn't get this song
But I do, I do
Jake sighed at least this one wasn’t about him, but it was about Conor which was right after him.
Walked in expecting you'd be late
But you got here early and you stand and wave
I walk to you
“You sound like the perfect date.” Taylor said.
”I mean she was sweet and it was one summer we just realized we weren’t a good match.” Conor said.
You pull my chair out and help me in
And you don't know how nice that is
But I do
“It’s called being a gentleman apparently Taylor at that time was the only nice one at that time.” Conor said.
“Rude.” Jonas said.
”You admitted you were a bad boyfriend back when you dated her.” Tom said.
“Still.” Jonas said.
And you throw your head back laughing
Like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, 'cause
He never did
”You were 18.” John said.
“Yeah and she was 22 it wasn’t that big of an age difference.” Conor said.
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does
Is break and burn, and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe
I watched it begin again
“Oh come on!” Jake yelled.
”Dude this song isn’t about you.” Calvin said.
”Still it feels like she’s claiming I made her think love dies.” Jake said and Tom picked up a cupcake and shoved it in Jake’s mouth.
“There now he’s quiet.” Tom said.
You said you never met one girl who had
As many James Taylor records as you
But I do
”James Taylor is a good artist.” Conor said and they nodded.
We tell stories and you don't know why
I'm coming off a little shy
But I do
“She loved hearing stories about my grandparents that my grandma told.” Conor said knowing what Starlight was about.
”Same with our first date all we did was talk it was private so no crazy fans.” Travis said.
But you throw your head back laughing
Like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, 'cause
He never did
Conor smiled and Jake just seethed in the corner that this song is basically comparing him to Conor.
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does
Is break and burn, and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe
I watched it begin again
”Dude you got a nice song.” Taylor said and Conor laughed smiling.
And we walked down the block, to my car
And I almost brought him up
But you start to talk about the movies
That your family watches every single Christmas
“Man you and her must’ve loved talking.” Harry said.
“We did, it was just we found ways to talk I was happy when she announced this was getting rereleased.” Conor said. “I’m not sure if he was happy.” Conor said as they looked at Jake who was practically silently raging.
And I want to talk about that
And for the first time
What's past is past
”I heard about her dating history I was honestly shocked she wanted to date me.” Conor said.
'Cause you throw your head back laughing
Like a little kid
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny, 'cause
He never did
“She is funny I loved her jokes.” Conor said smiling.
I've been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does
Is break and burn, and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe
I watched it begin again
”You helped her believe in love again.” Travis said.
“I guess I did.” Conor said.
But on a Wednesday in a cafe
I watched it begin again
They smiled as it ended and Alwyn grabbed the remote and paused it.
“Okay that’s it I want a song about me that isn’t one about me that she sings to Travis I want one that is obviously about me.” Alwyn said.
“Dude we listened to You’re Losing Me.” Taylor said.
“Than a different one.” Alwyn said and hit play for the next song.
Chapter Text
The boys got comfy after they grabbed some more snacks since they were hungry.
I am someone who, until recent events
You shared your secrets with
And your location
You forgot to turn it off
And so I watch as you walk
into some bar called The Black Dog
And pierce new holes in my heart
You forgot to turn it off
And it hits me
I just don't understand...
Taylor got ready to guess until Alwyn’s eyes widened pulled out his phone and started trying to turn off his location. “Well that solves that mystery who’s it’s about.” Tom said.
“Yeah.” Taylor said.
“Who forgets to turn off their location?” Jake said and then checked his phone and mumbled swears turning it off.
”Idiot.” John scoffed.
How you don't miss me
In The Black Dog
When someone plays 'The Starting Line'
and you jump up,
But she's too young to know this song
That was intertwined in the magic fabric of our dreaming
Old habits die screaming.
“Oh come on I wanted one from Lover not this.” Alwyn said putting his face in his face as Matty started laughing and Alwyn flipped him off.
”I mean we did get Lover.” Harry said.
”Yeah but she was singing at Travis not me.” Alwyn said.
I move through the world with the heartbroken
My longings stay unspoken
And I may never open up the way I did for you
And all of those best laid plans
You said I needed a brave man
Then proceeded to play him
Until I believed it too
And it kills me
Tom took tissues and dabbed his eyes from the sad song. “Thank you.” He said to Taylor who nodded.
I just don't understand...
How you don't miss me
In the shower
And remember
How my rain-soaked body
Was shaking
Do you hate me?
Was it hazing?
For a cruel fraternity I pledged
And I still mean it
Old habits die screaming
“I also don’t understand how you can’t miss her.” Travis said and Alwyn glared at him.
Six weeks of breathing clean air
I still miss the smoke
Were you making fun of me with some esoteric joke?
Now I want to sell my house and set fire to all my clothes
And hire a priest to come and exorcise my demons
Even if I die screaming
And I hope you hear it
“Oh come on I couldn’t be that bad.” Alwyn said and Travis got ready to list them but Taylor made a slashing motion and Travis nodded.
And I hope it's shitty
In The Black Dog
When someone plays 'The Starting Line'
And you jump up
But she's too young to know this song
That was intertwined in the tragic fabric of our dreaming
Cause tail between your legs you're leaving
And I still can't believe it
Cause old habits die screaming
“So you must’ve gotten over her quickly.” Matty said and Alwyn picked up a football from where one hit Jake and hit Matty with it.
“Good throw.” Tom and Taylor clapped laughing and Alwyn sighed and just wanted this to get over quickly.
Chapter 20: Cornelia Street
Summary:
Well we now get an anxiety filled Lover song.
Notes:
This one was requested by Emogirl19 and somewhat by TnTlover1989.
I don’t actually hate Alwyn I just think this song has too much anxiety to be healthy.
Chapter Text
They heard the music and Alwyn let out a small smile knowing this one of his songs.
We were in the backseat
Drunk on something stronger than the drinks in the bar
"I rent a place on Cornelia Street"
I say casually in the car
We were a fresh page on the desk
Filling in the blanks as we go
As if the street lights pointed in an arrowhead
Leading us home
”See a good song.” Alwyn said.
“Wait for the chorus.” Taylor said and Travis nodded.
And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
That's the kind of heartbreak time could never mend
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
”That’s not healthy.” Tom said, no person should never want to walk a street again if they break up.
”It’s cute.” Alwyn said.
“It’s problematic.” Harry said.
And baby, I get mystified by how this city screams your name
And baby, I'm so terrified of if you ever walk away
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
“Dude what did you say to her that made her scared you’d walk away?” Travis asked.
“Don’t think it was me she started dating me after him.” Alwyn said pointing to Tom.
”Hey we ended on good terms she wanted a quiet relationship I was too affectionate.” Tom said.
“Which means the problem falls back to you.” Conor said.
Windows swung right open, autumn air
Jacket 'round my shoulders is yours
We bless the rains on Cornelia Street
Memorize the creaks in the floor
Back when we were card sharks, playing games
I thought you were leading me on
I packed my bags, left Cornelia Street
Before you even knew I was gone
”Yeah six years and no ring.” Taylor said.
“Oh really I doubt football player here has gotten her a ring.” Alwyn said.
“I do wonder what type of ring she’d like probably something simple yet elegant.” Travis said and Alwyn just huffed.
“Dude accept it even in a love album you get an anxiety song.” Jonas said.
“Better than being forgotten.” Calvin said.
But then you called, showed your hand
I turned around before I hit the tunnel
Sat on the roof, you and I
”See I made sure she knew I loved her.” Alwyn said.
”I do have one question why did you two break up?” Conor asked.
“Difference in personality.” Alwyn quickly said.
”He also liked privacy and Tay liked preforming.” Taylor said and felt a pillow and felt a pillow to the back of his head. Travis picked it up and threw it hitting Alwyn in the face.
I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
That's the kind of heartbreak time could never mend
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
“You know this song sounds like she had rose colored glasses on and then later get taken off.” Jake said and they all looked at him not knowing he was paying attention to songs that weren’t about him. “What I might not like her but I can analyze stuff.” Jake said.
“True can you wake him up.” Harry said pointing John. Jake nodded and shoved John out of his chair.
“Ow the fuck!?” He yell asked.
“Stay awake.” Jake said.
And baby, I get mystified by how this city screams your name (city screams your name)
And baby, I'm so terrified of if you ever walk away
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
“I can see the rose colored glasses.” Conor said.
“Yeah and maybe she was scared of getting her heart broken again.” Taylor said.
“Or maybe this is honeymoon love and then she walks on egg shells.” Matty said.
”True but you shouldn’t be scared your boyfriend didn’t show up to your concert that you are happy to find him hiding in the corner backstage.” Travis said.
“Oh like you’d be better?” Alwyn asked.
“I mean I would wave my arms around to show her I’m there and cheering her on.” Travis said.
You hold my hand on the street
Walk me back to that apartment
Years ago, we were just inside
Barefoot in the kitchen
Sacred new beginnings
That became my religion, listen
“Religion?” A few asked wondering how rose colored those glasses were to write the song.
I hope I never lose you
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
Oh, never again
“I mean I didn’t believe it she’d probably walk it again.” Alwyn said, kinda now worried it did seem kinda bad that this song did seem filled with anxiety.
“I don’t know she seems pretty damn serious.” Taylor said.
“Yeah she never made those promises with me and she was a dumb teenager.” John said.
“At least you acknowledge she was somewhat a teenager.” Jonas said.
“I mean she was legal.” John said.
“There it is.” Conor said.
And baby, I get mystified by how this city screams your name
And baby, I'm so terrified of if you ever walk away
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
”She shouldn’t be scared you’d walk away.” Travis said.
”Trav is right.” Tom said.
“Trav?” Travis asked confused.
“I feel like we’re now mates.” Tom said.
“Okay.” Travis smiled.
I don't wanna lose you, hope it never ends
I'd never walk Cornelia Street again
I don't wanna lose you, yeah
“I mean didn’t she ever act like this with you guys?” Alwyn asked the three T’s, Conor, and Harry who shook their heads no.
”I mean I just went on one date but it was the best date ever.” Travis said.
“Clearly you get two love songs about you.” Taylor said.
"I rent a place on Cornelia Street"
I say casually in the car
“That’s commitment I wonder if she kept it.” Matty said.
“Nah according to this it was only while her other place was under renovations.” Travis said looking at his phone.
”Let’s just move on to a song that isn’t about me.” Alwyn said, regretting that he wanted a Lover song.
Chapter 21: Ours
Summary:
They boys now listen to Ours
Notes:
This wasn’t requested I just heard it on the radio and wanted to write it.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The music started up and it was cute.
Elevator buttons and morning air
Strangers' silence makes me wanna take the stairs
If you were here we'd laugh about their vacant stares
But right now my time is theirs
”Oh this is Ours.” Taylor and Tom smiled.
”Must be unknown.” John said.
”Well it was part of her deluxe album.” Taylor said with a glare.
Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, but my choice is you
Taylor and Tom pointed to Travis with my choice is you.
So don't you worry your pretty, little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours
Travis felt a rock and saw Alwyn threw it he picked it up and threw it back hitting Alwyn knocking him out. “I’m sorry.” Travis apologized while Taylor and Harry laughed. ”Guess throwing rocks and footballs are different.” Travis said.
”Still funny man.” Harry said.
You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don't care 'cause right now you're mine
“Hey does anyone know who Ours is about?” Conor asked and some of the others shrugged.
”Look it up.” Jonas said and Conor did and made a disgusted face.
”What?” Tom asked.
”Rumored to be about predator.” Conor said about John who choked on his water.
And you'll say
Don't you worry your pretty, little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours
“Well the good thing is we can now think it’s about Travis since he obviously loves her.” Taylor said and Travis nodded.
And it's not theirs to speculate
If it's wrong, and your hands are tough
But they are where mine belong, and
I'll fight their doubt and give you faith
With this song for you
“This song is sweet if you don’t think about who it’s about.” Matty said and the others nodded.
'Cause I love the gap between your teeth
And I love the riddles that you speak
And any snide remarks from my father
About your tattoos will be ignored
'Cause my heart is yours
“Not anymore!” Jake yelled and John grabbed a pillow and hit him with it, John wondered why he got stuck next to Jake.
So don't you worry your pretty, little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
“I mean it’s true only reason we broke up was media.” Taylor said.
”Same also I was kinda into PDA.” Tom said sheepishly.
And don't you worry your pretty, little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
But they can't take what's ours
They can't take what's ours
Alwyn woke up and looked at Travis. “Oh good you’re not dead.” Harry said.
”Why the rock and not a football?” Alwyn asked.
“You threw the rock so you got the rock back.” Travis said.
The stakes are high, the water's rough
But this love is ours
”I can’t believe it’s rumored that you get an actual love song.” Jake said.
“I can’t believe she thought he was nice.” Calvin said and the others nodded.
Notes:
It is rumored on the internet that Ours is about John Mayer.
Chapter 22: Out Of The Woods
Summary:
The guys now react to a nice Harry Styles song
Notes:
This was requested by thunder_0204 and by a guest.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The boys got some snacks and an ice pack for Alwyn since the rock caused a bump and they felt bad and sat down for the next song.
Looking at it now
It all seems so simple
Harry smiled knowing this song, in highlighted that he wasn’t a complete dick.
We were lying on your couch
I remember
You took a Polaroid of us
Then discovered (Then discovered)
The rest of the world was black and white
But we were in screaming color
And I remember thinking
“This is a cute song.” Tom said.
”It’s one of my good break up songs.” Harry said.
”Hey good break up song.” Taylor said high-fiving Harry.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
“That’s repetitive.” Jake said.
”It’s good.” Travis said nodding along to the music.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
Travis and Taylor were singing along and Tom joined in.
Looking at it now
Last December (Last December)
We were built to fall apart
Then fall back together (Back together)
Oh, your necklace hanging from my neck, the night we couldn't quite forget when we decided, we decided
To move the furniture so we could dance
Baby, like we stood a chance
Two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying
And I remember thinking
“On and off?” Conor asked Harry who nodded.
“I was a dick so her and I were on and off for a bit.” Harry said.
“Hey you redeemed yourself better than those two.” Taylor said.
“More like three.” Travis said nodding at Matty who let out an offended noise.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
Taylor, Tom, and Travis were all singing along and dancing in their seats.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
“I like this song it’s upbeat.” Conor said and the others nodded.
Are we out of the woods?
”How is this repetitive not annoying?” Jonas asked and the others shrugged.
Remember when you hit the brakes too
stitches in a hospital room
When you started crying, baby I did too
But when the sun came up I was looking at you
Remember when we couldn't take the heat?
I walked out, I said, "I'm setting you free"
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
When the sun came up you were looking at me
”What happened?” Conor asked looking at Harry.
”Snow mobile accident, we were fine.” Harry said.
You were looking at me, oh
”Okay why does he get a good song, he was a dick.” Jake said.
”Apologies work a long way.” Taylor said.
You were looking at me
The three T’s sang along and Jake’s eye twitched.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
I remember
“So annoying.” John said and felt a football to the back of his head. “Will you stop throwing those?” He asked Travis.
”Be glad it wasn’t the rock.” Travis said and John shut up.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
Calvin started singing along. “It’s catchy.” He said and the others nodded.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
“Mate you got such a good song all I got was us being like Bonnie and Clyde.” Tom said.
“I mean that’s a cool comparison.” Conor said.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
”Did all you British guys get good songs?” Jonas asked and Taylor and Travis coughed and pointed at Matty who just threw his hands up.
Are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods yet?, are we out of the woods?
Are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, are we in the clear yet?, in the clear yet, good
”Damn that was good.” Tom said.
”Better than the original it just felt different.” Taylor said.
Notes:
I’m debating on making a separate book on some Taylor swift theories that the boys react to, let me know if you all would be interested in that.
Chapter 23: So Long London
Summary:
The boys now hear So Long London
Notes:
This was requested by thunder_0204 and two guests.
Chapter Text
They saw the song load and it was a new song and Taylor pulled out his notepad and Tom put on his Sherlock hat.
I saw in my mind fairy lights through the mist
I kept calm and carried the weight of the rift
Pulled him in tighter each time he was drifting away
My spine split from carrying us up the hill
Wet through my clothes, weary bones caught the chill
I stopped trying to make him laugh
Stopped trying to drill the safe
Thinkin, how much sad did you think I had
Did you think I had in me?
Oh, the tragedy ...
“Damn this one will hit hard.” Matty said.
So long, London
You'll find someone ...
”Okay which British one messed up worse?” Taylor asked looked at a wide eyed Alwyn and an avoiding eye contact Matty.
I didn't opt in to be your odd man out
I founded the club she's heard great things about
I left all I knew, you left me at the house by the Heath
I stopped CPR, after all it's no use
The spirit was gone, we would never come to
And I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free
“Can it be about both?” Tom asked and Taylor gave a thoughtful look.
For so long, London
Stitches undone
Two graves, one gun
I'll find someone ...
”Yeah it’s about both.” Harry said.
”She did find someone.” Conor said and Travis smiled blushing a little.
And you say I abandoned the ship
But I was going down with it
My white knuckle dying grip
Holding tight to your quiet resentment and
My friends said it isn't right to be scared
Every day of a love affair
Every breath feels like rarest air
When you're not sure if he wants to be there
So how much sad did you think I had,
Did you think I had in me?
How much tragedy?
Just how low did you think I'd go?
Before I'd self-implode
Before I'd have to go be free
They looked at the two recent British boyfriends.”What the hell did you two do?” Travis asked picking up a football.
“I did nothing wrong.” Alwyn defended.
”I thought I was okay.” Matty said shrugging.
You swore that you loved me but where were the clues?
I died on the altar waiting for the proof
You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days
And I'm just getting color back into my face
I'm just mad as hell cause I loved this place
”Alwyn.” Taylor and Tom said and Alwyn gave them a ‘what the fuck look’.
For so long, London
Had a good run
A moment of warm sun
But I'm not the one
So long, London
Stitches undone
Two graves, one gun
You'll find someone ...
”Well that was kinda dramatic.” John said.
”Does he have anymore shit songs about him to play?” Matty said suddenly not liking the songs about him.
Chapter 24: Invisible String
Summary:
The boys now listen to a very thin invisible string
Notes:
This was on my list of ones to do also I was listening to it and realized the invisible sting was a dental floss with her and Alwyn.
Chapter Text
The boys saw the song start.
Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
Teal was the color of your shirt
When you were sixteen at the yogurt shop
You used to work at to make a little money
”Yes!” Alwyn yelled making them jump.
”What?” Calvin asked.
”This is a good song about me and how we were meant to be.” Alwyn defended.
”Grass is normally green.” Conor said.
Time, curious time
Gave me no compasses, gave me no signs
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
”See invisible strings.” Alwyn said.
”I mean the grass and your uniform are kinda reaching.” Taylor said.
Bad was the blood of the song in the cab
On your first trip to LA
You ate at my favorite spot for dinner
Bold was the waitress on our three year trip
Getting lunch down by the lakes
She said I looked like an American singer
”See her song playing when I was in LA, I ate at her favorite restaurant.” Alwyn said.
”She’s a popular singer and Bad Blood is one of her best songs.” Tom said.
”Yeah and I didn’t think my wife and I were soulmates because we both ate at Burger King.” Taylor said.
Time, mystical time
Cuttin' me open, then healin' me fine
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
“Is it just me or is she reaching with this.” Travis said.
”Not just you.” Harry said, Tom and Taylor nodded.
A string that pulled me
Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar
Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire
Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons
One single thread of gold tied me to you
”Did you do anything that was sorta like an actual string like how her favorite number is 13 and mine is 87 which makes 100, or the friendship bracelet I made her was red which is the Chiefs color and one of her favorite colors.” Travis said.
“Now that is an invisible string.” Tom said.
”I thought he favorite color was purple.” Matty said.
”People can have more than one favorite color.” Taylor said.
Cold was the steel of my axe to grind
For the boys who broke my heart
Now I send their babies presents
Gold was the color of the leaves
When I showed you around Centennial Park
Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven
Alwyn at this point didn’t want to point anything out since the guys pointed out that the string was thin.
Time, wondrous time
Gave me the blues and then purple pink skies
And it's cool, baby, with me
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
Hee
Ooh
“At least you had somewhat of a nice song.” Jonas said.
”I had more I had Lover.” Alwyn defended.
”That’s now about Travis since they make love eyes at each other each time she sings it on stage.” Taylor said.
Chapter 25: Message In A Bottle
Summary:
The boys listen to a red vault track
Notes:
This was requested by Gabby24680, so enjoy.
Chapter Text
They nodded to the beat enjoying it.
I know that you like me
And it's kinda frightenin'
Standing here waitin', waitin'
And I became hypnotized
By freckles and bright eyes
Tongue tied
“Huh I wonder who this is one is about.” Jonas said and Conor looked at his phone and pointed at Harry.
”No I got 1989 you and Jake got Red.” Harry said.
”Looks like your a double album now, it’s not bad.” Jonas said.
”You are?” Calvin asked.
”Who do you think inspired Better Than Revenge.” Jonas said.
But now
You're so far away and I'm down
Feelin' like a face in the crowd
I'm reachin' for you, terrified
“I mean it’s a good song.” Tom said.
“Yeah, I guess that’s nice.” Harry said.
'Cause you could be the one that I love
I could be the one that you dream of
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you
You could be the one that I keep, and I
Could be the reason you can't sleep at night
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you
Travis was vibing to the beat liking it and so was Taylor.
These days I'm restless
Work days are endless
Look how you've made me, made me
But time moves faster
Replaying your laughter
Disaster
”I like this song dude.” Conor said.
”Thanks man.” Harry said smiling relaxing that it seems she wrote this song when they were together and happy.
'Cause now
You're so far away and I'm down
Feelin' like a face in the crowd
I'm reachin' for you, terrified
“This song is so annoying.” Jake said and felt a football and glared at Travis.
'Cause you could be the one that I love
I could be the one that you dream of
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you (it gets to you)
You could be the one that I keep, and I (I)
Could be the reason you can't sleep at night
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you
“How do you get this nice song and I get a song on Speak now that makes me like I lure girls in.” Jonas said.
”Oh that’s how she changed it.” Taylor said.
”I guess it’s better than slut shaming.” Conor said.
How is it in London? (London)
Where are you while I'm wonderin' (wonderin')
If I'll ever see you again?
“Okay yeah it’s about me I was her first boyfriend from London.” Harry said.
”The original London boy.” Travis and Taylor said.
You could be the one that I love, mm-mm
And now I'm standin' here, hopin' it gets to you
“This is a sweet song I can hear the love in it.” Tom said.
'Cause you could be the one that I love
I could be the one that you dream of
Message in a bottle is all I can do
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you (it gets to you)
You could be the one that I keep, and I
Could be the reason you can't sleep at night (you can't sleep at night)
Message in a bottle is all I can do (yeah, yeah)
Standin' here, hopin' it gets to you (yeah, yeah)
”Why are we listening to these songs shouldn’t we listen to a song where we screwed up the most.” Matty said.
”Kinda hard for Travis and I since we were good boyfriends and for Tom.” Taylor said.
“Why do you want that it will have one of the songs you about on it.” Travis said
”No not my supposed songs one of those two songs, it’s funny to watch them fight.” Matty said.
“Nah I’m good.” A few of the guys said.
You could be the one that I love
(Love)
You could be the one that I love
(Love) my love
And now I'm standin' here, hopin' this gets to you
“That’s a good song about you dude.” Travis said clapping Harry on the back who nodded blushing a bit.
Chapter 26: Karma (Live)
Summary:
The boys learn who Karma is now.
Notes:
This was requested by Emogirl19, TnTlover1989, and several other guests.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
They saw it was another video from the Eras tour. “Huh guess this is also important.” Taylor said. They also saw a note saying they were getting a guest and Scooter Braun appeared and Tom, Taylor, Travis, Harry, and Alwyn all glared.
You're talking shit for the hell of it
Addicted to betrayal, but you're relevant
You're terrified to look down
'Cause if you dare, you'll see the glare
Of everyone you burned just to get there
It's coming back around
“Damn she’s pissed.” Calvin said.
”Yeah Scooter kinda stole her masters so she has to re-record.” Matty said and Scooter tried to hide in his seat.
And I keep my side of the street clean
You wouldn't know what I mean
Travis hummed along. “Another favorite?” Harry asked and Travis shrugged and picked up a football to throw at Scooter.
'Cause karma is my boyfriend
Karma is a god
Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend
Karma's a relaxing thought
Aren't you envious that for you it's not?
Sweet like honey, karma is a cat
Purring in my lap 'cause it loves me
Flexing like a goddamn acrobat
Me and karma vibe like that
”I’m karma.” Alwyn said proudly and the guys who’d been there for the other songs nodded not wanting to cause him to go off on a long monologue again.
Spider-boy, king of thieves
Weave your little webs of opacity
My pennies made your crown
Trick me once, trick me twice
Don't you know that cash ain't the only price?
It's coming back around
“I like her re-records more they sound more mature but still feel nostalgic. Also it shows her fans love her” Tom said and they nodded.
And I keep my side of the street clean
You wouldn't know what I mean
”You wouldn’t.” Tom said and Taylor nodded backing up his friend.
”Oh please she was the one who made it all dramatic.” Scooter said and felt a football to his head hard.
”Hi I’m Travis Kelce tight end and Taylor Swift’s loving boyfriend.” Travis said shaking Scooter’s hand tightly scaring the man a bit.
'Cause karma is my boyfriend
Karma is a god
Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend
Karma's a relaxing thought
Aren't you envious that for you it's not?
Sweet like honey, karma is a cat
Purring in my lap 'cause it loves me
Flexing like a goddamn acrobat
Me and karma vibe like that
“Don’t most of you hate her she broke up with you.” Scooter said seeing Calvin giving him judgmental looks.
“I’m still friends with her and love her music.” Tom said.
”We made up and I respect her for not trashing me back when we originally broke up.” Harry said.
”Good breakup song, also we started hanging out again with my wife and it’s three Taylor’s.” Taylor said.
”Taylor cubed.” Conor said laughing.
“Just started dating but love her.” Travis said.
”I had to deal with it when it happened.” Alwyn said and they returned to watching the live performance.
Ask me what I learned from all those years
Ask me what I earned from all those tears
Ask me why so many fade, but I'm still here
(I'm still, I'm still here)
“I like her outfit it’s gorgeous on her.” Travis said.
”Kinda looks like she’s trying to hard.” Jake said and was shocked he didn’t get footballed.
'Cause karma is the thunder
Rattling your ground
Karma's on your scent like a bounty hunter
Karma's gonna track you down
Step by step from town to town
Sweet like justice, karma is a queen
Karma takes all my friends to the summit
Karma is the guy on the Chief’s
Coming straight home to me
Travis dropped the football as it then showed Travis in the video in the box blushing in shock as Taylor’s dad, Scott, pats him on the back. “I’m a guy on the Chief’s.” Travis said.
”She changed the lyrics for you?” Alwyn asked in shock.
“She changed the lyrics.” Tom and Taylor cheered for him.
“Looks like her dad likes you.” Conor said.
”Of course he does he can chat football with Travis.” Taylor said.
Cause karma is my boyfriend (karma is my boyfriend)
Karma is a god
Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend (weekend)
Karma's a relaxing thought
Aren't you envious that for you it's not?
Sweet like honey, karma is a cat
Purring in my lap 'cause it loves me
Flexing like a goddamn acrobat
Me and karma vibe like that
Scooter kept trying to slide down in his seat since they kept glaring except for Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer who where just in shock that this football player made someone happy.
Karma is my boyfriend
Karma is a god
Mm-hm
Karma's a relaxing thought
“Well now we know she’s serious about you I mean a lyric change.” Harry said.
”It looked like her backup singers and dancers didn’t know as well.” Tom said they saw Scooter disappear in a light.
”Guess he only appeared for this song.” Conor said.
Notes:
Yes I had scooter in this chapter since he is the target of the song but also I’ve been wanting to do the Travis live one so I just smushed them together.
Chapter 27: Holy Ground
Summary:
The boys listen to another Joe Jonas song.
Notes:
This was requested by mitkit99.
So this is a late Christmas gift since on Christmas Day when I originally was gonna post this some shit happened with my family so it’s a few days late.
Chapter Text
After Scooter disappeared and the guys got comfy again the music started.
I was reminiscing just the other day
While having coffee all alone and Lord, it took me away
Back to a first glance feeling on New York time
Back when you fit my poems like a perfect rhyme
Jonas’s eyes widened. “You?” Matty asked.
”Yeah.” He said.
”Damn did you make it on every album?” Calvin asked.
”No he’s not on on 1989.” Harry said.
”And he’s not on Rep.” Tom said.
”That’s because that album was her being a bitch.” John said and felt another football to the back of the head.
”At this point you should know he’ll throw it at you.” Jake said.
”He never learns.” Taylor said.
Took off faster than a green light, go
Yeah, you skip the conversation when you already know
I left a note on the door with a joke we'd made
And that was the first day
“This has a good beat.” Conor said nodding along and Travis nodded.
And darling, it was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
“This doesn’t sound like a breakup song.” Harry said.
Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress
We had this big wide city all to ourselves
We blocked the noise with the sound of 'I need you'
And for the first time I had something to lose
”I mean comparing this is Forever and Always it’s tame.” Tom said.
”Or Better Than Revenge.” Taylor said.
And I guess we fell apart in the usual way
And the story's got dust on every page
But sometimes I wonder how you think about it now
And I see your face in every crowd
“That’s sweet… kinda.” Conor said.
”How?” Most asked him.
”She keeps seeing his face.” He said.
'Cause darling, it was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
Travis, Tom, and Taylor were singing along which John picked up a football and threw it hitting Tom who fell. “Who’s threw that?” Taylor and Travis asked and the others pointed at John who ducked down to avoid a football.
Tonight I'm gonna dance
For all that we've been through
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
“This is too peppy to be a breakup song.” Calvin said nodding along to the beat.
”Some of the lyrics aren’t even bad.” Matty said.
It was good
Never looking down
And right there where we stood
Was holy ground
“Seriously you get this song after a breakup and here I get called an asshole didn’t we break up with her the same way?” Jake asked.
”Dumb teen, you were a fully grown man.” Jonas said.
Tonight I'm gonna dance
For all that we've been through
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
“Is that the case with Travis now?” Harry said.
”I hope.” Travis blushed.
Tonight I'm gonna dance
Like you were in this room
But I don't wanna dance
If I'm not dancing with you
”That was a good happy song we needed.” Harry said the others nodded settling back down.
Chapter 28: London Boy
Summary:
The London boys now argue on who’s the actual London boy.
Notes:
This was requested by EmmaTaylor2006.
I personally believe London Boy is about Harry, Tom, and Alwyn all together but I needed them to argue.
Chapter Text
The first thing they heard wasn’t singing but a male voice.
We can go drivin' in, on my scooter
Uh, you know, just riding in London
Alright
“Oh this one is about me.” Alwyn said.
”This is London boy I’m the first London boy.” Harry said.
I love my hometown as much as Motown, I love SoCal
And you know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey
But something happened, I heard him laughing
I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent
They say home is where the heart is
But that's not where mine lives
”How did you meet her in America.” Alwyn said and felt a pillow he looked Conor who was on the floor smiling. “First the man with footballs now you with pillows.” He said.
”Would you prefer a football?” Travis asked.
You know I love a London boy
I enjoy walking Camden Market in the afternoon
He likes my American smile
Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you
Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates
So I guess all the rumors are true
You know I love a London boy
Boy, I fancy you (ooh)
”Hey did either of you think it’s about Tom he’s British.” Calvin said.
”So is Matty.” Jake said.
”Wasn’t dating her when this was released.” Matty said.
And now I love high tea, stories from uni, and the West End
You can find me in the pub, we are watching rugby with his school friends
Show me a gray sky, a rainy cab ride
Babe, don't threaten me with a good time
They say home is where the heart is
But God, I love the English
“She’s talking about these like she’s first experiencing them.” Harry said.
”Yes all the stuff that older man do.” Alwyn said.
You know I love a London boy
I enjoy nights in Brixton, Shoreditch in the afternoon
He likes my American smile
Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you
Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates
So I guess all the rumors are true
You know I love a London boy
Boy, I fancy you
“Like a child.” Harry said.
”Huh I liked her smile.” Tom said to himself thinking.
So please show me Hackney
Doesn't have to be Louis V up on Bond Street
Just wanna be with you
Wanna be with you
Stick with me, I'm your queen
Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney on the Heath
Just wanna be with you (wanna be with you)
Wanna be with you (oh)
”This is too happy.” John said trying to ignore the two British men having an argument on who the song is about.
You know I love a London boy
I enjoy walking Soho, drinking in the afternoon (yeah)
He likes my American smile
Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you (you)
Took me back to Highgate, met all of his best mates
So I guess all the rumors are true (yeah)
You know I love a London boy (oh)
Boy (oh), I fancy you (I fancy you, ooh)
“Will both of you shut up!?” Jonas yelled rubbing his temples.
“No this man needs to know I am the first and original London boy.” Harry said.
”No I am Lover is all about me.” Alwyn said.
”Are they forgetting I Forgot That You Existed is the first song?” Conor whispered to Travis who shrugged.
“Okay both you shut up or we’re appointing Tom as the London Boy.” Taylor said.
So please show me Hackney
Doesn't have to be Louis V up on Bond Street
Just wanna be with you
I, I, I fancy you, oh
Stick with me, I'm your queen
Like a Tennessee Stella McCartney on the Heath
Just wanna be with you (ooh)
Wanna be with you
I fancy you (yeah), fancy you
Oh, ah
As the song ended Harry and Alwyn were glaring at each other. “That’s a cute song she did stick with us London boys for awhile.” Tom said smiling.
Chapter 29: The Story Of Us
Summary:
The boys now listen to another song about John.
Chapter Text
The guys sat down after making Alwyn and Harry sit away from each other.
I used to think one day we'd tell the story of us
How we met and the sparks flew instantly
And people would say, "They're the lucky ones"
”Oh this is from Speak Now.” Taylor said happy.
I used to know my place was a spot next to you
Now I'm searching the room for an empty seat
'Cause lately I don't even know what page you're on
Conor looked up who this one was about. “What did you find?” Tom asked Conor.
”It’s about John.” Conor said.
”Oh come on!” John yelled and Jake laughed and threw the red scarf at him.
Oh, a simple complication
Miscommunications lead to fall out
So many things that I wish you knew
So many walls up I can't break through
“It’s a good beat.” Taylor said and Travis nodded and Tom lip synced along.
Now I'm standing alone in a crowded room
And we're not speaking and I'm dying to know
Is it killing you like it's killing me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now
Next chapter
“It was a tragedy.” Matty said and felt a glare.
”Smallest man.” John said and Matty stuck out his tongue.
How'd we end up this way?
See me nervously pulling at my clothes
And trying to look busy
And you're doing your best to avoid me
I'm starting to think one day I'll tell the story of us
How I was losing my mind when I saw you here
But you held your pride like you should have held me
“This is a tamer than your other songs.” Calvin said.
”When are we going back to this asshole.” John said pointing to Jake.
”Probably after this one.” Jonas said.
Oh, I'm scared to see the ending
Why are we pretending this is nothing?
I'd tell you I miss you but I don't know how
I've never heard silence quite this loud
“She missed you?” Taylor asked in shock.
”I mean he was grooming her.” Tom said.
Now I'm standing alone in a crowded room
And we're not speaking and I'm dying to know
Is it killing you like it's killing me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now
Travis was vibing while Tom and Taylor sang along with a fake mic. “You three are insane.” John mumbled.
”We’re just having fun.” Tom said.
This is looking like a contest
Of who can act like they care less
But I liked it better when you were on my side
The battle's in your hands now
But I would lay my armor down
If you'd say you'd rather love than fight
So many things that you wish I knew
But the story of us might be ending soon
“Please Tay get out.” Travis said worried, John got up to go punch Travis and he just stood up and John looked up and looked worried and scurried back to his seat.
”Huh looks like Taylor won’t need a bodyguard she just needed Travis.” Taylor said.
Now I'm standing alone in a crowded room
And we're not speaking and I'm dying to know
Is it killing you like it's killing me, yeah
But I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
When it all broke down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now, now, now
And we're not speaking and I'm dying to know
Is it killing you like it's killing me? Yeah
I don't know what to say since the twist of fate
'Cause we're going down
And the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now
The end
“I’m happy that horror story was over.” Conor said and the others nodded, getting ready for the next one.
Notes:
I’m back at college so now more infrequent updates, again if you have any song requests put them in comments.
