Chapter Text
Ranboo was no different from being different. He wasn't like his brothers or father who were cold and killed for fun, he had no intention of becoming a sadistic monster like them.
Ranboo was kind. At least the kindest vampire their friend Tubbo knew. He always said that there was something unique about him, something that made him feel safe. Ranboo called him crazy when he first told him that. Ranboo was a vampire, his mother programmed his DNA to make him violent and a serial murderer, biting his victims and draining them of their blood, leaving them to die and be found the next morning or afternoon when people noticed the lack of their presence at an outing or a work meeting. He was programmed to kill innocent people daily
Ranboo never did do that though. He didn't want to be like his older brothers Techno and Wilbur. They made it a game. No, Ranboo never killed anyone. He only drank human blood once when he first turned, he was sixteen and three months old then. He was now five hundred and fifteen, sixteen in a few months.
Techno always told him he would die because his body was meant to have a "human" diet. Animal blood was easier though and didn't involve killing someone. his five-hundred-year-old record would go on strong.
Ranboo carefully made his way through the apartment, his quiet footsteps barely catching his ears. He was just about to open the apartment door when Techno appeared leaning on the wall next to him.
"Where are you going?" He asked in his usual cold and emotionless tone. He taped his sharp nails against his forearms waiting for an answer.
"Nowhere" Ranboo mumbled, opening the door about to leave. Techno grabbed his wrist, pulled him back into the apartment, and closed the door with a quick snap.
"Let go of me!" Ranboo snarled, pulling his arm out of Techno’s grasp, only for Techno to grab a hold of it again, stopping him from exiting the small apartment. Again . "Let go of me Techno!" He shouted again, only this time his pointed teeth were poking out from his bottom lip as he glared with vibrant yellow eyes.
"Where are you going?" Techno repeated with the same amount of coldness, just with an added amount of tension to the conversation— if you could call it that.
"I'm just going to go see a friend, let me go," Ranboo pulled his arm back, Techno just gripped onto him tighter, his nails dug into his immortal flesh.
"Who? Tubbo, The werewolf? You shouldn't be talking to him, you know that-" Techno squeezed Ranboo’s wrist tighter, a small bit of Ranboo's blood being drawn out from the crescent shaped markings.
"Why not?" Ranboo interrupted him, still pulling his arm back, pulling on Techno’s nails causing them to scratch him, Ranboo growled and got frustrated because Techno wasn't listening to him and wasn't going to let him go.
"He's a werewolf, Ranboo. You shouldn't be spending time together with it" Techno growled. He acted more like a canine than Tubbo, how was he gonna say anything?
"He's not a 'it' he's still a person, a good one too, he's harmless-"
"He's dangerous," Techno corrected. "That hound could tear us all apart if he wanted to!" Techno cried out.
"And from my knowledge, we can't die. Trust me I've tried" Ranboo huffed trying to rip his arm away from Techno again, bits of memories flashing through his mind.
Techno finally let Ranboo’s arm go. "Just,” he paused. “Be safe," he crossed his arms tightly against his chest. "I'll kill him if he touches you." Techno's eyes turned a dark red as he said that. Ranboo nodded, Tubbo wasn't gonna hurt him. And he wasn't gonna hurt Tubbo. It was their deal.
Ranboo closed the apartment door behind him as he exited it. He ran quickly to their normal meeting spot, an old tree house Tubbo had built in the forest. It held up well above all the swamp. Just a few flies bugged them.
Tubbo was already there when he arrived, sitting comfortably on the mattress he had set up, he was flipping through pages of a book, "Hi" Ranboo smiled from the doorway. Tubbo jumped back startled.
"Oh, my god" Tubbo held his hand to his chest. "You scared the shit out of me. But hi," he laughed.
"Sorry I spooked you. I thought you would know I was here. Doggy powers or whatever" Ranboo plopped down on the bed next to Tubbo.
"1. Never call my abilities doggy powers ever again. I'm not a dog-"
"Could have fooled me" Ranboo jokes, earning a slap upside the head. "Ow'' he mumbled afterwards.
"2. You don't smell like a vampire. Probably has to do with the fact you don't murder people every day" Tubbo set his book aside as he talked with Ranboo.
They talked about lots of things. Tubbo talked about how his younger sister Teagan had already accidentally activated her powers, something about it being a long story and him just basically needing to help her the next full moon.
Ranboo listened to him rant on how annoying Lani was being about the whole thing, apparently, she thought it was cool that Teagan got her super cool wolf powers. Tubbo thought otherwise, saying how he felt like it was a curse to have to change into something murderous every full moon because you accidentally caused someone's life to end, whether it was because you were rough housing and someone hit their head to hard, or in Tubbo’s case he got upset with someone and basically fought the guy to death.
The big take away was that Tubbo thought being a werewolf was a curse, and Ranboo couldn't help but relate to that. He is forced to live thousands and thousands of years all because his mother didn't want to see any of her children die.
They kept talking for another hour or so before Ranboo heard someone coming up the latter, he shushed Tubbo before shutting off the lamp next to them.
"What are you-" Tubbo didn't get to finish his sentence before someone grabbed him, bringing him down to the floor Ranboo stood up quickly grabbing something to hit the stranger with, but he was too late by the time Ranboo had Tubbo’s bat in hands the stranger bit into Tubbo’s neck causing him to scream bloody murder.
Ranboo knocked the guy off, before Ranboo got the chance to kill the guy he smirked at Ranboo, saying in a proud voice "tell Techno that Dream sends his condolences" Ranboo lounged at him, snapping his neck watching as he fell back onto the floor.
He leaned down next to Tubbo; he was alive. And that was good. He was fine! He was gonna be fine! Tubbo flinched when Ranboo hugged him. "It's ok." Ranboo's voice was shaky as he spoke. His brain is heavily aware of the smell of blood coming from Tubbo’s neck.
"It's going to be ok." Ranboo wanted to cry. He didn't know what to do. He didn't want Tubbo to die. Tubbo didn't deserve to die. So, he did the only thing he knew how to do, He bit into his wrist and dripped a few drops of his own blood into Tubbo’s mouth. Tubbo made a face as if he had tasted something horrible and to be fair blood did taste bad, metallic. Like you had just licked a pole or something. Ranboo wiped his tears. He looked over at the dead vampire.
He had killed someone. Maybe not a human. But he killed someone. And he felt.. different. He had never killed someone before. He was just so angry... and he had enjoyed the feeling of having his hands around his neck, feeling the life leave his body..
Was this what his brother's felt when they killed? Ranboo was pulled out of his thoughts when Tubbo coughed. He was gonna be fine. He wasn't gonna die. He wasn't.
Tubbo looked up at Ranboo. But it wasn't a happy or relieved look. He looked. Scared. He sat up and moved away from Ranboo. Did his opinions of Ranboo change? Did he think he was a monster? Something vile? Someone who deserved to be hated.
Ranboo moved towards him saying "what's wrong?" And "are you still hurt?" Ranboo knew that was impossible, his blood was meant to heal him, and it always worked, if he would die with it in his system it would work. He just wouldn't be human after.
"Your- your-"
A monster
"Eyes," Tubbo mumbled. Ranboo whipped his head over to the mirror that was positioned right next to the doorway.
Ranboo reached his hand up to his face. His once gray eyes were now Glowing an iridescent yellow, gold even.
"Why do they look like..." Tubbo drifted off.
Ranboo didn't need Tubbo to finish his sentence. He knew what Tubbo was thinking.
Ranboo’s eyes weren't turning red like they normally did when he was upset or had just gone for a hunt.. they turned yellow like how Tubbo’s did right before he changed into a werewolf.
"That is not supposed to be there" Ranboo mumbled. "They're not supposed to look like that."
Ranboo looked back over at Tubbo. Tubbo looked at Ranboo with wide eyes. "I thought you were a vampire?"
"I am?" Ranboo was questioning his own origin. His mother was a witch. His father was human until she turned him into a vampire. No one in his family was a werewolf. No cousins, not grandparents. All humans or witches.
"This doesn't make sense" Ranboo wanted to cry. What was he? Who was he?
Tubbo crawled closer to Ranboo. Bringing him into a hug. He didn't look as scared anymore, he seemed like he understood what Ranboo was feeling or was sympathizing with him at least.
"It's ok, ran.. we'll figure it out" Tubbo hugged Ranboo tighter. "We're ok"
Ranboo let a few tears escape his eyes. He wasn't supposed to be like this. Why was he so different from his brothers?
---Ranboo's guide to be a bad original vampire: don't eat friends---
Ranboo had been looking for Wilbur. They were supposed to check out this record store that Ranbo thought was cool looking. But Wilbur was nowhere to be seen, not in his room, not in the barn.
Ranboo thought he was probably in the woods or town hunting something. He gave Wilbur the benefit of the doubt and checked the woods first, hoping to find Wilbur hunting down a deer like Ranboo did every day for breakfast, but what Ranboo found was so much worse.
Wilbur was behind their house biting someone's neck, nearly drinking them dry before Ranboo pulled him away from the human.
"Wilbur!" Ranboo shouted. Wilbur growled. "Why'd you do that?" Wilbur huffed.
Ranboo bit down on his own wrist feeding the human some of his blood, not wanting him to die on his family property.
"We talked about this, Wil, you said you were gonna try and not kill anyone, for me!?" Ranboo looked at Wilbur sadly. "you even promised!"
Wilbur chuckled. "I went a week on your animal diet or whatever, cut me some slack. I've only eaten human blood for five hundred years. It's not natural"
Ranboo rolled his eyes. "I've only drunken animal blood for five hundred years. And look at me I'm fine-"
"You're weak," Wilbur corrected. "Brother, If you’re gonna be a part of our family you got to be strong? Techno is strong, Tommy is strong, dad is strong, I'm strong, moms well. Is dead" Wilbur spoke blankly.
"And You’re well. Malnutritionedy or whatever" Wilbur shrugged, a small laugh scratching at the back of his throat. "You're not strong Ranboo"
Ranboo looked away from Wilbur. "You're-" right "-wrong, I'm strong" Ranboo wanted to believe it. Deep down though he didn't.
------
When Ranboo had walked through the apartment's door he was greeted by Tommy, who had his arms crossed while he studied Ranboo.
"Where were you?" Tommy asked. Ranboo looked at him confused. "I was with Tubbo, you know that I heard you listening into me and Techno’s conversation earlier"
Tommy raised an eyebrow. "If you were with Tubbo then why do you smell like that?"
Ranboo looked at Tommy confused. "Smell like what?"
"Like a wolf. But not Tubbo's wolf like a different wolf." Tommy corrected himself, moving his hand in a circular motion. “or whatever”
"There was a vampire who tried killing Tubbo but he's not a wolf?"
"Who tried killing Tubbo?" Wilbur appeared next to tommy scaring both him and Ranboo.
"Jesus Christ, we do scare people by showing up randomly like that,” Ranboo laughed out of breath leaning to the door frame for support.
"Yeah, yeah, Boo-who we scare people, who tried killing Tubbo now?"
Ranboo shrugged. "I don't know. Some guy who has a grudge against Techno-"
"Who, what did they say"
Techno appeared in the room a second later standing on the other side of Tommy, scaring him.
"Holy hell" Tommy mumbled leaning forward resting his hand on his knees.
"I don't know, he said something about you and this other guy" Ranboo shrugged again. He did that a lot now. He blamed Tubbo for it.
"What did he say Ranboo." Techno glared at Wilbur who was looking at Ranboo funny.
"Uh something about how Dream sends you condolences, which was before I killed him and healed Tubbo speaking of-"
"Who's Dream?" Tommy interrupted Ranboo.
"He was one of Technos best friend’s, well before he turned him and back stabbed him. That's why Techno doesn't have any friends anymore" Wilbur whispered to Tommy laughing.
"Shut up Wil. At least I don't screw all my friends. Having none is probably better than doing that" Techno glared at him.
"Hey, no fair that was one time, and me and her were hardly just friends, if you know what I mean" Tommy elbowed Wilbur in the ribs causing Wilbur to elbow him back,
"Why did Dream try to kill Tubbo?" Tommy's side was still pained from Wilbur’s jab but he continued on.
Techno sighed, "He wants to get back at me, for killing his family" Techno rolled his eyes as if it wasn't a big deal.
"Since he can't kill me, he wants to make my whole family suffer or some shit. But I have no one he can hurt, Wilbur doesn't give a shit about his friend’s, and Tommy's just lonely."
Techno looked at Ranboo. "You’re the only social butterfly in our family Ranboo" he chuckled.
Ranboo ran his hand down his face. "So now Tubbo is in danger because you decided it was a good idea to seek revenge on someone by killing their family not expecting there to be consequences” Ranboo looked at Techno with the utmost disappointment and disgust.
Techno nodded.
"And you didn't think to warn me"
"To be fair I didn't think you would befriend someone who was mortal-"
"It's lonely being alive for hundreds of years. Of course I wanted friends!" Ranboo groaned, "So, what are we gonna do now! Tubbo isn't safe and you owe me!" he pointed a finger at him.
Techno looked confused "since when?"
"Since I had to kill someone “cause of you"
Techno smiled. "Finally," he clapped his hands. “You’re no longer a murder virgin.”
"Not finally! It made my eyes get all weird, and it was in front of Tubbo! You know how bad that is!" Ranboo shouted.
"Dude. Your eyes are supposed to do that, All our eyes go all weird red or whatever" tommy laughed.
"My eyes used to go red, now they go yellow. That ain't normal tommy" Ranboo was getting upset.
Why did he get stuck with such a stupid set of brothers.
"Oh. Mine never have done that. I've only seen w-” Tommy paused. "Uh"
"My eyes are doing it again ain't they" Ranboo sighed, running his hands over his eyes, a low groan escaping his throat as he whined.
"Yup. That's definitely weird." Wilbur mumbled. Wilbur looked at Ranboo confused and concerned. "I've only seen werewolves' eyes do that. Like after they do their changey thing, when they turn back to human."
Tommy stepped closer to Ranboo admiring Ranboo’s eyes.
"But I'm not a wolf am I?" his voice was slick with venom, he was getting sick of people giving him ideas that didn’t make any since,
They all went quiet.
"I'm not right? Dad's not a werewolf, mom was a witch!" He shouted.
Techno looked at Wilbur mouthing something Ranboo couldn't understand.
"Ranboo, your mom-"
Everyone jumped from the sudden sound of their father's voice. Philza shook his head trying to continue only for Tommy to interrupt him before he got a word out.
"Why hello Philza Minecraft" Tommy laughed.
Phil ignored him, continuing to talk to Ranboo.
"Ranboo. Your mom and I.." Phil paused, sighed and continued.
"After your mom had Wilbur we had a hard time. She started being distant and I started having my suspicions about her maybe..” Philza smiled sadly. "And then you were born.. and you looked nothing like me. you had gray eyes, black hair, tanner skin.." Phil looked Ranboo in the eyes. "You didn't look like my other sons."
"So, I asked your mom. And." Philza looked away from Ranboo and to the floor having no more courage or strength to look at his bastard son. "Biologically Ranboo I'm not your father."
There was no "sugar coating" that.
"Oh.. oh." Ranboo mumbled. "Then who is?" Ranboo felt his fists squeeze together as he forced himself to stay in the room and not storm off like a teenager who didn't get their way.
Philza shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't ask that much, just a simple yes or no."
Ranboo nodded and headed to his room. This was too much to think about right now, he couldn't be in that room. Not with them. Not with the people he thought were his family only for them to not be. It was too much. Half of his life was a lie and Ranboo didn't know it.
The next day Ranboo laid in bed for hours. He didn't get up to go for a quick hunt, or to see what Tommy had dropped and inevitably broke a few hours before, he didn't wake up when he heard a knock on the front door a few minutes ago, he didn't care that he heard a few hushed whispers, and he didn't care when hisroom door was opened.
He didn't care when someone crawled into bed next to him, pausing there for a moment before moving again. He did open his eyes when he felt someone lay next to him, jumping up when he felt them.
Ranboo wasn't less alarmed than before when he saw Tubbo lying next to him sadly smiling at him.
"What are you doing here? When did you get here, does Techno Know you're here? He's gonna kill you if he doesn’t-'' Tubbo ignored Ranboo.
"Your eyes are doing that thing again."
Ranboo looked towards the mirror he had smashed the day before. Ranboo groaned.
"I don’t know what's wrong with me" he laid back down in the bed next to Tubbo who had somehow figured out where he lived- he never told him the address-
Doggy powers probably, hellhound or something with an even better sense of smell.
"Maybe you’re a werewolf." Tubbo half shrugged, one shoulder being
"But I'm a vampire." Ranboo huffed, lifting his lip to show a pointed canine with the tip of his thumb.
"You could be both, that's possible right?"
Ranboo stayed quiet.
Anything’s possible right. He didn't even know who his father was. And he's probably long dead by now.
"I don't know everything you're feeling right now Ran. But you're probably scared?"
Ranboo nodded.
That was an understatement; he was terrified. He didn't know what was going on. He had no control of anything.
"When I first, y'know, got my abilities I was freaking out. My eyes would get all glowy and I had long teeth when I got angry. Don't even get me started on my first full moon." Tubbo laughed halfheartedly, "My dad had to calm me down, tell me it was normal. For my family at least. And that he could help me."
Tubbo played with the ring on his finger. "He had my aunt, who's this powerful witch, make Me this ring. So, after my first full moon I wouldn't have to deal with changing anymore." Tubbo bite the inside of his cheek.
"Sometimes I don't use it though. Because when I'm the wolf. I feel connected to something somehow. I don’t know." Tubbo laughed. "It's silly because, I go through all the pain from shifting just to run around in the woods all night"
Ranboo listened to Tubbo. For a while he went off track a lot but Ranboo appreciated what he was trying to do.
"So. What I'm trying to say, or what I tried to say. You're not alone, I can help you. I don't know how it will work with you being a vampire and all, but I can try. I will try Ranboo."
Ranboo hugged Tubbo to his chest, startling the younger with the quick movement. He did ease up after a while.
“Thank you. For wanting to help me.” Ranboo wanted to cry again. He still didn’t understand why he wanted to cry so much now.
“No problem boss man. Maybe tomorrow we can see if my aunt knows anything about vampire wolf stuff.”
Ranboo nodded, still holding onto Tubbo. At one point he fell asleep, Tubbo had been playing with his hair when there was a knock on the door. They both stayed where they were not really caring if Tommy and techno had started to rough house and wanted allies.
But despite not answering them, Techno still walked through the door.
“Is he ok?” Techno asked, leaning on the door frame. His voice was a whisper and actually sounded worried. Tubbo shrugged the best he could.
“He’s taking it better than I would. I just can’t believe you kept it from him. ” Tubbo smiled softly at Ranboo, brushing bits of hair out of Ranboo's face. Techno shifted his weight on each of his feet for a moment. “We weren't sure if it was true or not.” Techno mumbled.
“You still should have told him.”
Techno sighed. “I know.” Techno watched as Tubbo draped his arm over Ranboo, and Ranboo snuggled into his side still asleep. “I just didn’t think he would handle it well.” Techno mumbled. “and I was right.” Techno leaned his head to the side slightly and stifled a laugh before turning back to Tubbo. “Hey, will you do me a favor?” Techno crossed his arms standing up straight.
Tubbo nodded.
"I trust you. Even if,” Techno sighed. "Even if I seem skeptical or whatever. I do trust you Tubbo. So please don’t change that. And I know that I Can't protect him forever so make sure he’s safe, alright?" Techno smiled at his little brother before walking out of the room, closing the door behind him.
---Ranboo's guide to be a bad original vampire: heal your prey---
"What the hell, Tommy!" Ranboo screeched. Ranboo had found Tommy biting into another human in the house.
"Why did you bring her inside! Are you insane? Don't answer that, I don't want to know" Ranboo rambled as he got the girl away from Tommy, biting into his wrist to give the girl some of his own blood so she wouldn't bleed out and die on the century old rug in the living room, Tommy laughed as he cleaned blood off his mouth.
"Jeez man. It's just a human, it's not like I knew her,” Tommy propped himself up on the couch that was now stained.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Ranboo scoffed.
"You were never here" Ranboo was using his weird eye, memory wiping power on the girl.
"You know that might not work. With you not drinking human blood or whatever. Makes you weaker.” Tommy chuckled as the girl walked out of the house.
"You spend too much time with Wilbur- and this! Is why no girl is ever gonna like you. You kill them!" Ranboo huffed.
"Your logic is flawed but I respect it."
After about three hours there was a knock on the door, Ranboo answered it, finding the girl from before. She looked like she had gotten into a car accident with the amount of blood she had on her face, and bits of glass stuck in her face.
"What did you do to me?!" She yelled.
She was hyperventilating as she walked into the house.
Ranboo closed the door behind her quickly. "Shit- uh. Are you still alive?" Ranboo raised an eyebrow.
Please, please, please tell me she's not turning
"What kind of questions is that of course I'm alive? What kind of question is that!"
"A question uh- what are you feeling right now? Headache? Dizziness, the overwhelming urge to drink someone's blood?"
The girl looked at Ranboo like he was crazy. "What-" The girl thought for a while.
"Just answer the question!" Ranboo shouted, scaring the girl.
"YES! But I shouldn't be so what did you and your friend do to me!" The girl looked like she was about to start crying.
"Tommy, get out here I need your help!" Ranboo shouted towards Tommy's room.
Tommy appears a second.
"What do you need, big brother? Money, advice, finally cave and decide I was a good role model despite our age difference?"
Ranboo rolled his eyes. "Yeah right- we have a situation"
Tommy looked at the girl and back at Ranboo. "What situation"
"She's turning tommy! I turned a human! Having five vampires in this city was already a lot, now there's gonna be six"
Ranboo pressed a hand against his forehead. "How do I get myself in these situations"
Tommy shrugged. "You could just kill her?" Tommy propped his chin up on his hand.
"I can't kill an innocent person." Ranboo huffed.
"She won't be an innocent person for long. She'll cave and kill someone” Tommy swayed his body back and forth clearly bored of this conversation.
"No. I'm not killing her. I'll figure something out"
The girl looked back and forth between them confused out of her mind.
"Fine. I'll kill her"
Before Ranboo got the chance to stop him Tommy already pulled this girl’s heart from her chest, the life leaving her eyes as she fell to her knees, one last gasp of air leaving her chest as she collapsed.
"I'll never get used to that feeling" Tommy shivered before dropping the heart onto the floor, wiping the blood from his hand onto his jeans.
"You're cleaning that up." Tommy smirked and walked away.
"How do I get myself in these situations?" Ranboo repeated,
------
The next day Tubbo took Ranboo into town to find his aunt Niki. Apparently she was an expert on all things werewolves so Tubbo thought she must know something.
Tubbo had been dragging Ranboo around town trying to find her shop, he claimed they weren't lost but Ranboo thought otherwise.
"Tubbo, just admit it we're definitely lost" Tubbo grabbed Ranboo’s hand and started pulling him through town again. "We're not lost,"
Ranboo tripped over his feet a couple of times, Tubbo still not stopping.
"Maybe we should ask someone, maybe they know where it is-"
Tubbo groaned. "I've never been to her shop, I just had her come to my home. Ah I should have come here sooner" Tubbo let go of Ranboo’s hand stopping where he was. He looked around for a second.
"And now we're-"
"Are you guys lost?" A man with ginger hair asked,
"Yes, do you know where Niki’s bakery is?" Tubbo lit up with hope. Maybe they weren’t gonna be wandering around town all night trying to find a singular building.
"Bakery?" Ranboo mumbled.
"Uh yeah! It's on the corner of Logstedshire and L’manburg Ave" the stranger chuckled. "Oh, and tell her Fundy says hello, haven't seen her in a few days" he smiled.
Tubbo nodded. "Well do, but we have to go, so enjoy the rest of your day!"
Tubbo grabbed Ranboo’s hand and started pulling them to where the man directed them.
When they came inside Niki was working at the cash register, she was handing a woman a box with a set of cupcakes in it when they walked in.
When she saw them she reached over the counter and shouted “I need to close early, sorry! Come back another day please!” people shuffled by the two, a few complaining about the minor Inconvenience causing them to Not be able to get their favorite cakes and pies today.
Niki slammed the bakery door closed after flipping the open sign to a sign that had bold red letters stating closed.
"Tubbo! Why did you bring a vampire into my bakery! Especially an original!?" She played with a Crystal that was attached onto a leather cord. Niki looked like she wanted to cry and rip Tubbo apart.
"How did you know I was a vampire? I don't look like one?" Ranboo was confused. All he had on was a simple hoodie and jeans. And there were no blood stains on anything this time.
"I'm a witch I know when something supernatural, and Tubbo is that stupid sometimes," Niki glared at the brunet.
"Hey! Ranboo's is a nice one, at least I didn't bring one of his brothers around. They don't even like me,” Tubbo huffed.
"Tubbo- never mind, what do you want" Niki huffed.
"Uh we need you help with wolf stuff"
Niki looked at Ranboo and then Tubbo. "What kind of wolf stuff?" Niki eyed Ranboo suspiciously.
"Do you know anything about hybrids?"
Niki looked at Tubbo confused.
"Not really? Why" Niki crossed her arms.
"Uh well. Ranboo is sorta a vampire uh..."
Niki was confused again.
"He's a werewolf.. too"
Niki's mouth fell open. "How in the world-" Niki shook her head.
"Anything’s possible I guess," she laughed.
"I don't know much about hybrids, other than they're very rare. But I have a friend who does. She knows all sorts about weird supernatural stuff. But she specializes in things like wolves and witch hybrids or whatever" she bit the inside of her cheek like she was withholding some type of information from the two but Ranboo didn't ask about it and neither did Tubbo.
Niki shrugged, "I could give you her address, just be warned. She's, eh loud? I'm not sure how to explain it" she laughed before pulling out a notebook and writing down a few words before handing the paper to Tubbo, still wary of Ranboo.
"Thank you Niki," Tubbo smiled.
Niki smiled at Ranboo. "You're definitely not like your brothers,"
"Thank- thank you?"
Niki nodded.
"Now leave. I want to re-open my bakery."
Tubbo laughed "Alright Ms.Baker"
Tubbo and Ranboo said goodbye to Niki before leaving her bakery to find this mysterious friend of hers, they used Tubbo’s cell phone and Google maps to find the house, Ranboo mumbled something about how they should’ve done that last time instead of looking like complete fools earlier when Tubbo suggested it.
The maps lead them to a small dungy apartment complex, Tubbo shrugged.
"If I get murdered I'll say hello to God for you"
"Hopefully, you won't have to do that" Ranboo chuckled as Tubbo pressed the button that supposedly alerted the tenant inside of their presence.
After a few minutes they heard a few things fall downstairs and a screech after something tumbled.
But despite the loud concerning sounds of a struggle a woman with freshly dyed purple hair opened the door.
"What do you want? I'm in the middle of something" she motioned to her still soaking wet hair that was dripping down her shoulders, surely staining them purple later.
"Sorry, Niki told us you could help us with something?"
The woman looked at Ranboo then back at Tubbo.
"Niki sent you. Wow, maybe I finally know something she doesn’t” the woman smiled and pumped her fist in the air "yes!" She shouted. "I'm not as dumb as Schlatt says I am" she laughed.
"Anyways, come in come in, ignore the fact that I'm currently turning purple" she once again motioned to her hair.
Tubbo and Ranboo followed the stranger up the stairs to her apartment.
It was small, but that was probably from the assortment of strange items such as a fully blown-up unicorn costume.
"Alright who are you guys and what exactly do y'all want from me?" She sat down on the soft brown sofa that was pushed against a wall decorated with all sorts of patterns, dragons, snakes, fish and even some mystical creature neither of the two had ever seen before.
"Well, I'm Tubbo, this tall vampire thing is Ranboo". he waved towards the woman. He wanted to shrink into a box, packaged and sent back across the ocean so he could jump into the Grand Canyon and never be seen again but he couldn't do that right now.
"I welcomed a vampire into my home" the woman's voice was high pitched. "That's great." Her eye twitched.
"I promise I have no interest in coming back here and killing you" Ranboo reassured,
"How do I know that?" she raised an eyebrow.
Tubbo sat down on the floor leaving Ranboo standing.
"Uh- I only drink hu- animal blood- I've never eaten- drunken human blood before- after I changed anyways"
The woman nodded, still skeptical of Ranboo.
"Well, I'm Minx. And you never said why you need my help but not Niki’s"
"Well, Ranboo you see, has this small problem" tubbo made a hand gesture with his fingers showing something shrinking.
"Uh I don't think I can help with what you are saying" Minx looked at the two boys.
"No, no, no not that!" Ranboo shouted voice going high-pitched just like how Minx's had.
Minx nodded listening to Tubbo once again, resting her elbows on her knees.
"Ranboo seems to be of a hybrid of some sort just..."
"We don't know how that could be possible" Ranboo dug his nails into his palm behind his back. He could feel the skin breaking and then healing again.
"Why couldn't Niki help you? She's a hybrid?" Minx laughed.
"Don't know, she just said you could help us." Tubbo shrugged a confused look on his face for a second. "So can you help him or not?"
Minx hummed. "Depends on what you are asking for. I can't change who you are, but I can help you find out who and what made you the way you are,” Minx smiled softly at Ranboo.
"Right of course" Ranboo mumbled, wishing that wasn't the case. He just wanted to go back to normal, back to a few weeks ago when he didn't know about his mother, when he and Tubbo were just hanging out in the old tree house hidden in the woods, enjoying the friendly conversations. But that wasn't going to happen, now was it?
"Are you able to figure out who my dad is?" Ranboo started to wonder if there was a chance his father was still alive. Though deep down he knew the chances of that were low.
Minx smiled and nodded. "That's my specialty. You have no idea how many people ask for me to find out who their father is. Honestly, I didn't think that there could be so many people who were fatherless”
Minx brought out a tray of items, some sort of dried plant Ranboo never heard of and a liquid that smelled terrible when Minx poured it onto the tray.
Minx took Ranboo’s hand and pricked his finger drawing blood from the small wound. She had to do it a few times when the finger healed itself.
When she finally was down she looked at the two.
"I've never done this with a vampire, so I don't know how it's gonna work ok."
Ranboo nodded. Still hoping for the best.
Minx said a set of words that sounded like some sort of Latin over and over again, while doing so the puddle of liquid spread over top of the tray as it started to spell out a name along with a face.
When Minx was done she turned the tray toward Ranboo.
Ranboo stared at it for a while; he recognized it as the man who lived in the same town as his family all those years ago before he was a vampire.
He remembered when he would come around and give his mother gifts around holidays. He was a well-known werewolf. He was the "alpha" of the clan if you will.
Ranboo pressed his lips together into a fine line and nodded, "Thank you" Ranboo stood up and headed for the door quickly. Tubbo followed suit after saying a second thank you to Minx.
"Wait, wait, where are you going?" Tubbo shouted after Ranboo when they exited the complex.
"I'm going to go find my family" Ranboo wanted to cry. But he couldn't. He didn't know these people; they were hardly his family.
"Be safe.." Tubbo mumbled before Ranboo disappeared in thin air leaving Tubbo alone.
---Ranboo’s guide to be a good bad original vampire: ask questions---
Ranboo smiled up at his mother, her dark hair complimenting her rosy cheeks.
"guess what today is Mama!" Ranboo shouted as he jumped up into his mother's arms hugging her tightly.
"Oh no, I must have forgotten what day it is ran. You must remind me" she brushed some of Ranboo’s hair out of his face, he would be needing a trim soon.
"It's my birthday Mama! How could you forget my favorite day!" Ranboo gasped, offended by her choice of words.
"I'm so sorry baby, I'll never forget your birthday ever again!" She smiled and pressed her nose into his cheek.
There was a knock on the door and Ranboo’s mother gently put Ranboo back on the ground.
"I'll be right back ok"
Ranboo nodded but followed her to the door, hiding behind the shelf that held all their firewood for the winter. He heard his mom open the door and started whispering to someone. Ranboo could only make out a few words.
"What are you doing here --- You know you can't be here Not when ----- home"
The man hummed. "But it’s my --- birthday. He's five -----. Just. Give This to ------" the man answered back.
Ranboo was confused but walked back to the kitchen waiting for his mom to come back.
When she did she was holding a small box.
"Who was the man at the door? Why do you have a box?" Ranboo asked quickly.
Ranboo's mom smiled. "It's a present. Someone left it here for you?"
"Who was that man mama"
"No one. Just open your present Ran"
And Ranboo did, he found a necklace with a crescent moon engraved into the metal. It was attached to a thin leather cord, it must have been homemade, there were slight Groves in places where there weren't meant to be any.
Ranboo smiled seeing it.
"It's really pretty" Ranboo mumbled, pulling it over his head, careful not to get his hair caught in it.
Ranboo’s mom hummed. "It's just as pretty as you my dear," she brushed her thumb over his cheek.
-----
Ranboo held his necklace in his hand, thumbing over the engraving. He had replaced the leather string with a metal chain after it broke, and he nearly lost it. He still had the leather somewhere in his room. Maybe he could figure out how to fix it one day.
Ranboo was headed to a graveyard. It had been here since the day Ranboo was born so he was sure if he were gonna find any trace of his father it would be here with all the five-hundred-year-old skeletons.
Ranboo looked at all the individual headstones before looking for a family crypt.
When he finally found it he stared at the name that was carved into the white stone.
Beloved
Had a nice ring to it, Ranboo Beloved.
Ranboo Minecraft was a little weird to say expertly after Tommy compelled some guy to name a popular game after their family.
Ranboo looked over the names. Until he found it.
It was eroded a lot and he could barely make out its name from the junk stuck in between the letters but there it was.
Fin Beloved, loving father, and brother.
Did Ranboo have brothers and sisters, and even cousins he didn't know about?
He probably would never know the answer to that.
Ranboo pressed his back against the stone.
At least he knows now right
Ranboo got home late that night. Though today Techno didn't pester him about it. He didn’t even seem to be home.
He went to the kitchen to find a bag of animal blood, but he got distracted by a sticky note that wrote "Be back soon have to kick a vampire's ass really quick, Techno"
Ranboo laughed. Ranboo would feel sorry for the poor guy who was seeking revenge on Techno at the moment but after he sent someone to kill Tubbo, he couldn't bring himself to care if Techno killed one more person.
