Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Bulma briefs was the smartest, craziest, most determined woman on planet Earth.

And then she was the most determined frog in the galaxy.

After trying to find anyone who could help, she’d actually found her body sitting amongst the frogs, but another frog had shown up and smashed into her, stealing the speech collar and then taking her body again. After that it had been a blur

She had managed to scramble into one of the Ginyu forces battle pods before the planet blew up. After several minutes trying to figure out the eyesight of the Damned creature she was stuck as she had managed to bash enough buttons to close it and send her off into space. Well it didn't send her off into space, the cliff face she was on collapsed and she was sent hurtling through a collapsing planet into space.

From then on life was a damned.

She had ended up on board a small ship that honestly wasn't the best that the cold Empire had. But it was enough to do what Bulma needed. She gathered enough water and protein bars to keep herself alive before she began carefully stealing tech and tools in order to build herself something that would help her off the damn ship and onto another planet. Preferably a friendly Planet that had decent tech and maybe some decent communications system.

But she didn't wind up on a planet like that. She wound up on a grubby little planet that was basically a glorified motel. But what it did have was a marketplace. And there she was able to squirrel away everything she needed to build a basic but usable bipedal body. People thought it was a standard drone designed to go out and do chores for someone who wasn't able to leave their home. Or someone who was super lazy.

It had taken an earth year to get a big enough reputation that people would hire her for work. And then it took another year for her to gather enough money for a ship that would get her off-world and closer to home. But then life seemed to decide it was going to throw another curve ball at her. Despite the fact she had all of the proper paperwork she came across the one brain dead Galactic Officer who insisted on meeting the Organic who owned the drone.

Bulma had been forced to thwack the officer on the head and then go on the run.

She didn't know how long she'd been on the run for but she did know that during that time she had made many friends and enemies. She had improved her ship and even had a crew that was willing to die for her but mostly because she had the money and the notoriety to scare them into loyalty. She didn't really like that but she had no other choice. The closer she got to home the more Bulma began to realize that she wasn't sure she wanted to stay there.

She missed her friends and family. She missed her nice comfy bed and she missed her lab and she missed strawberries and scratch and -

But she wouldn't miss the monotony. Sure she could head out and have adventures when she wanted but the older she got the more life reminded her that she had obligations. She had the obligation to take over the capsule corp from her father. She had the obligation to keep creating and designing incredible technology. The obligation to settle down and live a regular ordinary life.

Bulma briefs didn't want that anymore.

She wanted the excitement of space travel. She wanted the incredible feeling of being on a new planet every other day. Sure she wanted to return home but she didn't want to be stuck there.

But finally she forced herself back to earth. She discovered that she'd been gone over two decades. She hadn’t even noticed. It was hard to notice time passing when you were running police and pirates and bounty hunters and a myriad of others.

Once she had reached the Earth she'd settled her ship into orbit, activated the cloaking device and sent out drones to see what her friends and family had been doing in all the time she had been gone. The child she had last seen on Namek now had a child of his own.

Krillin now lived with an amazingly beautiful blonde woman who seemed to be just as in love with him as he was with her. An adorable noseless blonde little girl toddled with them as they walked along the street doing their shopping.

Yamcha had grown more handsome as the years had gone by. He'd also grown as a person. He had a good job, he had a nice home but no wife. Bulma was happy with this as it meant that maybe just maybe there was a chance she could get him back. But she also knew that to do that would be to show she was still alive and kicking. And she wasn't sure she was ready to do that just yet.

Piccolo still seemed to be doing his own thing and the Lookout seemed to have a new Guardian. Dende had grown since she had last seen him and he seemed to enjoy his life as the Earth's Guardian.

She had seen Goku with a grown-up Gohan. Another boy had been with them who looked alarmingly like Goku laughing and training with the two. She'd watch them return home where ChiChi was waiting with lunch and another young woman who had cuddled up to Gohan before a small child had come out of the house and laughed at Gohan. She'd called him daddy and Bulma's heart had clenched. The child she had last seen on Namek now had a child of his own.

Then she'd seen her mother in the garden chatting with her father as a small child with blue hair wobbled about in a little dress. Then a boy probably in his middle teens showed up and swept the child up in his arms. The little girl had giggled riotously and then much to her surprise Vegeta had walked out of the door and settled into one of the chairs besides her father.

And then Bulma watched as her own body came walking out of the building. She'd started in complete shock as she watched herself lean down and press a quick kiss so the cheek up Vegeta before settling it into a chair.

Beauma turned off all the probes and immediately began pacing her room. There was no way her body should still exist. Maybe they discovered genuine her form and wished him away and maybe her memories had awoken in the body but her spirit had not

But Bulma knew that is not what had happened. She knew that Ginyu had taken over her life and was now playing Happy Families. She was pissed off and angry. She wanted to take her shuttle fly down there and punched the bastard right in the face. She wanted to demand justice for everything that had happened over the past two decades and for the life she hadn't been able to have.

Only she couldn't.

If Bulma showed up down there in a robotic form claiming to be the real Bulma briefs they'd accuse her of being a liar. Or worse, they just blast her into Oblivion. But she could use this.

So she had spent the next month watching them. At first she thought it was some long con Vegeta and Ginyu had cooked up, but quickly discovered that Vegeta had no idea who was inside her body.

It made her feel a little bad for him. He genuinely loved the ‘Bulma’ he was with. He loved his children, and seemed to have come to at least tolerate the other Fighters.

And then there were the kids.

Trunks was the eldest, and he was just like her. Intelligent, strong willed and handsome. He trained with his father and helped save the world. Genetics proved he was her son. Or Ginyu’s

The girl was still young, and all she knew was that she was adorable, as stubborn as her father and everything Bulma could have wanted from a baby girl.

Bulma’s plans had to be adjusted somewhat. As much as she would love to see Ginyu’ life ripped apart, she couldn’t hurt them.

Vegeta had been a monster, but it seemed as though he had made real change. He was a loving husband, and pretty decent father and honestly, Bulma was a little worried she might send him off the deep end. And with how strong he had become, she sure as hell didn’t want to see that shit show.

So instead she sent Ginyu a message.
