Summary
The older man hums from his position on the couch, a bottle of polish on the coffee table, his sword across his lap. “It’s going well, thank you for asking.” He lifts the ridiculously long weapon, inspecting it casually, commenting, “I thought Masamune could use some cleaning.”
“Yeah,” his voice breaks part way through, “gotta keep weapons clean and in good condition.”
Sephiroth hums again, thoughtful, casually adding, “Yes, it makes it much easier to kill to someone.”
He’s going to die, he’s too young to die, he hasn’t even gotten the chance to ask-
A bowl of popcorn taps against Sephiroth’s head, Cloud’s voice grumbling “stop bullying him already.”
Or Zack comes over to watch a movie and Sephiroth decides to mess with him (again) and Cloud has to save his dramatic boyfriend from his dramtic brother, and Angeal and Genesis are just there.

He’s glad that the main event is over, allowing (purely for the sake of tradition that even Reno decided to go along with and not have his chest half way out of his shirt- or it was the fear of Tifa kicking his ass, who knows) them to strip off suit jackets and ties, and roll up sleeves (the girls being the first ones to kick off heels).

It’s amazing how some things don’t change.
His Ma’s cooking still tastes just as delicious as it did when he was a kid. Tifa is still his best friend more or less from childhood. When he took ballet back up again, at Zack’s insistent, his body still remembered the movements, the routines. He’s still quick on comebacks and sass, old defenses not completely torn down after all these years.
And after all this time, he still can’t pick out a decent fucking gift for Zack.
