Setting is high fantasy because of all the worldbuilding that comes with both races living together in one world.

Since we're dealing with a fantasy world where Humans and Monsters have lived together, tech advancement isn't the same as modern setting. I'd estimate the era to be similar to early-mid 20th century. There's internet and TV, but they're not as widely used so I imagine it at the level of the late 80s. Social media is virtually nonexistent, with Undernet probably being the only one, but I don't imagine it being widely used either (and it probably won't be relevant to the story). There might still be some modern-day elements especially with Underground being very advanced in tech, but I don't imagine today's excessive phone use or super-reliance on cyberspace. Essentially, in my head it's a mixed bag of different time periods that don't exactly equate to modern setting, just has some of its elements thrown here and there.
