Summary
The trauma of a summer day, really, is quite opposite that of a winter night. One dissolves and the other does not; a winter death is prolonged, buried under layers of snow and sweaters and knit fabric. A summer death is a drop in the ocean, the swatting of a bug off an arm. It is summer and the bodies are baked in sunscreen, bug spray, and the scent of humid rot. A winter body is found intact, treaded over and frozen. A summer body is found rotten and swollen, festering with life. Really, what is more different than preservation and decay?
