The story will follow our two main characters as they attempt to bring peace between their peoples, while also keeping themselves alive.

The songling had a long, serpentine tail, dark on the top and paler on the bottom, with short stripes of much brighter color. He had much longer gills than was usual, coiled in a wild nest around his head with fimbriae writhing in the water. His face was even shaped the same, hard and angular with only faint lingering touches of guppy softness to differentiate them.
If the songling hadn’t been half a dozen shades of purple from head to tail, Shouta might have suspected someone had cloned him somehow.
