The young man sat across from them, carefully adjusting the folds of Jiang Cheng’s sleeve. Jiang Cheng looked tense, lips pressed into a thin line.
Lan Qiren’s eyes narrowed as he cleared his throat, the sound breaking the heavy silence. “If we are to entertain such outrageous claims,” he said sternly, “then tell us.. who are you, if not Wei Wuxian?”
Slowly, the boy looked up, his gaze calm but distant. “I prefer using the name of the sect that raised me. ” His hands still for a moment. “It feels more.. suitable.”
Lan Xichen glanced at Lan Wangji, both silent as the room held its breath.
‘Not Wei Wuxian’ straightened Jiang Cheng’s cuff one last time before meeting their eyes with a gentle smile. “I am Jiang Ying. Courtesy name, Wuxian.”
